    Level B-/C+, 13-14.5,15-15+ mph, 56 miles. Wentz Run Park, Anvil Lane & Wentz Rd, Blue Bell, PA. This is next to the Whitpain Township Building, near Wentz Rd & Skippack Pike/PA-73.     New route through Montgomery County from Wentz Run Park in Blue Bell to Java's Brewin' in Royersford/Limerick, where John Anthony Seitz (who performed at our Fall Open House Party on 11/1) will be singing and playing the guitar at lunch time. Our route will go through Norristown Farm Park, on both the outbound and return. We'll also ride on a portion of the flat Schuylkill River Trail, and cycle through Arcola, Trappe, and Schwenksville. We'll cross the Perkiomen Creek, and cycle past some pretty parks and golf courses. Rolling terrain with some brisk climbs, but nothing too steep. Total elevation gain is 3082ft. Lunch stop at Java's Brewin' cafe is at mile 34. Before lunch, there are optional rest stops at mile 16 (Wegman's in Collegeville), or at mile 20 (Trappe). On the return, if another quick rest stop is needed, there is a Wawa at mile 48. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year, exploring pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through a variety in different regions. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year, with a few exceptions. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

    Scenic Sunday Ride - Langhorne, Bucks County to Lambertville, NJ CO-LEADER WELCOME

    Today's pretty ride will be a change of location and scenery. This is a picturesque route in Bucks County, as well as Hunterdon County, NJ, from Langhorne, to Yardley, Washington Crossing, Titusville and Lambertville in NJ, then returning to Washington Crossing and Langhorne. Mostly rolling terrain with some nice, flat stretches along the river. A couple of brisk climbs before the lunch stop, but nothing too steep. Total elevation gain is 2568 ft. Quick snack/rest stop in Washington Crossing at mile 15. Lunch stop in Lambertville at a coffee shop/roastery at mile 32. DRIVING DIRECTIONS: to Cairn University from Philadelphia, heading north to Langhorne: Take US-1 North, and go beyond the Neshaminy Mall. Stay straight on the US-1 North expressway toward Morrisville. Take the exit for Bellevue Ave/PA-413 -- this is a right-lane exit and a right turn onto Bellevue. From Bellevue, in 0.6 mi, turn left onto MANOR Ave. You will see signs for Cairn University. Make a soft left turn onto University Drive (look for the red & white "Welcome" banner). Park in Lot A, the first parking lot on your right, across from the pond and fountain. CO-LEADER WELCOME: If you would like to lead this ride at an alternative speed, thank you!     G.R.I.T. Ride around Tinicum

    Starting at Peace Valley Park will ride the Delaware Canel Towpath in Lumberville toward the gravel and dirt hills of Tinicum township. Rest-stop at Brig O' Doon Coffee in Ottsville before returning. Route will cover 26 road miles and 17 gravel road and trail miles.


    Sunny Sunday Afternoon D Ride

    Level D, 10 mph, 15-25 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Come out and enjoy a leasurely bicycle ride thru Fairmont Park and or near suburbs. Especially apropreate for novice riders, new riders to the city and those new to group riding. Lots of tips on city cycling. Bring a helmet, tools to fix a flat tire ( we will coach you on how to fix a flat if the occasion deflates), water and a few dollars for a coffee stop.


    Sunny Sunday C Spin-Off

    Delightful, Delicious D (& D+/C-) Ride, Tuesday Evening Edition

    Level D/D+/C-, 8-11 mph, 12-25 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. We'll be meeting in the parking lot adjacent to the library. Enjoy a friendly, non-competitive ride on quiet roads through pretty residential neighborhoods. Occasionally, we'll ride on park trails. Please bring LIGHTS in case we are delayed on our return. This ride is scheduled for 3/4 Tuesdays each month, however, one Tuesday a month (usually, the LAST Tuesday each month), there is no Delightful, Delicious D ride - this leader leads the "Ride to the Monthly Newsletter Mailing Party" instead, from Glenside Library to Center City.

    Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the stresses of the workday, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Pedal away the day's stresses at a relaxed pace. Non-competitive ride on quiet roads through pretty, residential neighborhoods. We'll be meeting in the same parking lot as the "Multi-Paced Rides" listed above. We'll meet in the rear of the parking lot, near the Giant Market. Please bring LIGHTS in case we return close to dark. Cue sheets will not be available. Please note: One Wednesday per month (usually the second Wednesday), Linda cannot lead this ride, due to the BCP Board meeting. Linda will try to arrange another leader for this ride on Board meeting nights.


    Flourtown A- Rides

    Level A-/A, 17-20 mph, 25-35+ miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Meet at 5:50pm for a 6pm prompt start; light is precious. Routes on relatively lightly traveled roads in eastern Montgomery County and northwestern Philadelphia. Distance varies depending on the pace of the ride, type of route and available daylight (please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too) Check the monthly calendar for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels).


    Nighttime Phoenixville Dog Rides

    Level B-/C+, 13-14 mph, 35-45 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:15 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    This weekly ride covers 30-40 miles on low traffic roads. Strong headlights and taillights are required. Wear your brightest most garish clothes and come join the fun. Don't lose your conditioning just because its dark outside. Cheat the darkness and join us for excellent workouts. These rides tend to be on the hilly side, so please be prepared to ride at the listed pace. We regroup at the top of hills when necessary. This is a road ride. Only one speed is offered. Snow, ice, rain and wet or icy roads cancel. Cold weather does NOT cancel.

    New route from Upper Dublin High School to the Wegman's Food Court in Collegeville. Outbound via Blue Bell, East Norriton, and Eagleville, return via Oaks, Schuylkill River Trail, Norristown Farm Park, and Ambler. On the outbound, we have a quick rest stop for bathroom & snack at a Wawa in East Norriton at mile16. Indoor lunch stop at Wegman's is at mile 30. Most of the climbing is before the lunch stop.     Please meet Owen and Tim at Rittenhouse Square fountain for a group ride to the Grays Ferry Bridge. BCP will be participating in the 2016 Mayors Annual Cleanup Day. We will be cleaning the shoulders of the bridge to make it free of debris. As noted in the QR, the City will be providing us with the tools we need for this project. Please arrive by 8:15 so we may leave at 8:30

    Since the Greys Ferry Bridge Cleanup has been postponed, I will do next week's Saturday D ride to Bridgeport this Saturday, April 9th. If KYW is reporting rain or snow one hour before the ride start, the ride cancels so otherwise see you at the Azalea Garden no matter how cold or windy, got it! There is a wonderful donut shope in Bridgeport, across the river from Norristown, so let's cycle there! Cue sheets will not be available.

    Scenic loop from Lansdale to the Kimberton Whole Foods Market in Ottsville, Bucks County. Outbound via Hatfield and Perkasie, return via Plumsteadville, Peace Valley Park, and Colmar. Brief rest stop for snack and bathroom at mile 19 in Pennridge. Lunch stop at Kimberton Whole Foods in Ottsville at mile 29. On the return, if another water stop is needed, we pass a Wawa at mile 49. Total elevation gain is 2529 feet. Please click on the route map link below to preview the elevation profile - there is a significant climb in the beginning, and one at the end.     Special and scenic adventure from Doylestown through Upper Bucks County, into Hunterdon County, NJ, on [mostly] peaceful and pretty country roads. Outbound via Buckingham, Lahaska, and Ringoes, returning via Stockton, Bulls Island, and Carversville. Before crossing the river into NJ, we have an optional quick Wawa stop at mile 17. Indoor rest stop at the Carousel Deli in Ringoes at mile 26. On the return, we will be in Carversville at mile 45 - we can stop at the Carversville Store if needed for a bathroom/snack break. Total elevation gain is 2461 feet - rolling, but nothing too steep. We will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain 13mph or greater, as advertised.     This weekly ride covers 30-40 miles on low traffic roads. Strong headlights and taillights are required. Wear your brightest most garish clothes and come join the fun. Don't lose your conditioning just because its dark outside. Cheat the darkness and join us for excellent workouts. These rides tend to be on the hilly side, so please be prepared to ride at the listed pace. We regroup at the top of hills when necessary. This is a road ride. Only one speed is offered. Snow, ice, rain and wet or icy roads cancel. Cold weather does NOT cancel.

    Scenic loop from Lansdale to the Kimberton Whole Foods Market in Ottsville, Bucks County. Outbound via Hatfield and Perkasie, return via Plumsteadville, Peace Valley Park, and Colmar. Brief rest stop for snack and bathroom at mile 19 in Pennridge. Lunch stop at Brig O'Doon Coffee House/Kimberton Whole Foods in Ottsville at mile 30. On the return, if another water stop is needed, we pass a Wawa at mile 49. Total elevation gain is 2529 feet.     FOR 4/22: Rose Tree Park in Media to Hoopes Reservoir & Centreville, DE for lunch. Pretty and scenic route through the Brandywine Valley, on peaceful roads which are popular with the Delaware Valley and White Clay Bike Clubs. Venture through Ridley Creek State Park, circle around Hoopes Reservoir, cross the Brandywine Creek a couple of times, and pass the Tyler Arboretum. On the outbound, there is a quick Wawa break at mile 12. Lunch at the Centreville Cafe is at mile 32. On the return, there is a Wawa stop if needed at mile 40. Rolling hills with a couple of brisk climbs, but a couple of flat stretches along Creek Rd, also. Total elevation gain 3689 feet. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions.     FOR 4/29: Rose Tree Park in Media to Hoopes Reservoir & Centreville, DE for lunch. Pretty and scenic route through the Brandywine Valley, on peaceful roads which are popular with the Delaware Valley and White Clay Bike Clubs. Venture through Ridley Creek State Park, circle around Hoopes Reservoir, cross the Brandywine Creek a couple of times, and pass the Tyler Arboretum. On the outbound, there is a quick Wawa break at mile 12. Lunch at the Centreville Cafe is at mile 32. On the return, there is a Wawa stop if needed at mile 40. Rolling hills with a couple of brisk climbs, but a couple of flat stretches along Creek Rd, also. Total elevation gain 3689 feet. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

    Early Bird Ride to Coffee in Devon via "Dirty Dozen" (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B/B-, 14.75-15.25 mph, 50 +/- miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 7:55 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Assemble at 7:55. We willl leave at 8:05 SHARP! Ride through Belmont, Wynwood, Bryn Mawr, Gladwyn, Villanova, Devon,Conshohocken, Manayunk, etc., returning via Manayunk Bridge and Bala Cynwyd. Many hills, including 12 relatively long ones, but no killers. One longish coffee stop in Devon (Pour Richards or Whole Foods) at mile 26 or so. (It's all about the coffee.) Will regroup at top of long hills as needed, but riders are expected to achieve advertised pace (which is what our computers read as "average" at the finish). Please preregister: it increase substantially my ability to read the important info on the sign-in sheet.


    Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride

    Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing. Bring a snack for a brief mid-ride break. Consider the on-line routes approximate. Leave by 8:05 AM.     Want to bicycle across the USA over the TransAm Bicycle Route? Well if you can't go cross country go overnight! Green Lane, Upper Perkiomen County Park is the perfect destination for beginning your cycling dream. Simple and flat route, out the Schuylkill River Trail and Perkiomen Trail. Simple equipment, a bicycle with a rack on the back, a simple tent and sleeping bag, one set of saddle bags! we will have lunch at the Collegeville Dinner, dinner at Chiaro's Pizzeria & Restaurant. I will have a cook stove to have oatmeal and hot chocolate before breaking camp. A second breakfast in Schwenksville will fortify us for the rest of the ride back to the Philadelphia Art Museum.     Pottstown and Harleysville via Mingo Rd

    Level B-, 14 ish mph, 61 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    See farms, fields and creeks in north western Montgomery County (plus downtown Pottstown-that's where the food is...) 2 full service rest stops (food, H2O, indoor potty). This ride is not flat (3800 feet gain), but we will regroup (hills, traffic lights, etc.) Optional climb up Eichele Rd?? (Real optional... if this is the first time you have seen it, you will never forget it. It tops out at a 26% grade.)

    How did we ever cycled to Valley Forge National Park before there was a Schuylkill River Trail? Come find out on this D paced, C distance hilly ride thru King Of Prussia. We will take one loop around the park before crossing the Schuylkill River, seeing the progress of the pedestrian /cycling bridge being reconstructed and then returning all the way home to Philadelphia on the SRT! This was cut short last Saturday

    A friendly ride that regroups as necessary. We'll be riding to Devon. Climbing will average around 2000'. Overall average speed should be around 14mph, and we'll maintain a speed of 14.5-16mph on flat terrain. Bring $ for a food stop at about the halfway point. No one will be dropped. Wet roads or a 50% chance of rain cancels ride. RIDE CAN BE CANCELLED UP TO 2 HOURS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE.
