Volunteers Needed - BCP Needs Your Help
Social Chair Needed
Friends, BCP schedules many enjoyable and informative social events throughout the year, e.g., the Awards Banquet,
the Travelogue, the Non-Profit Fair, seminars, tailgate parties, etc. We need a SOCIAL CHAIR to help plan and
organize these satisfying events on the calendar. If you are interested in helping to organize some of the social
events for our club, please contact Linda McGrane (267-251-7862 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
These worthwhile events, cannot take place without someone to plan and organize them. If you are able to help
BCP, THANK YOU for volunteering!
There are several other opportunities to help BCP. Remember BCP is an all volunteer organization. If you would like further information about any of the opportunities listed below, please contact any of BCPs Officers or
Board members for additional details.
Board of Directors
BCP is looking for members who would like to serve on our Board of Directors, to help BCP at the
decision-making and leadership level. The Board of Directors discusses the major issues which
affect our club, and makes the administrative and policy decisions which guide our club forward
as the largest cycling club in the Greater Philadelphia region. The Board meets once a month,
for 10 meetings for year. BCP's Bylaws, which are available on the website, provide additional
information on how the Board of Directors functions.
The AAH Coordinator organizes BCP's road clean-up events along Yellow Springs Rd just
west of Valley Forge National Park, in collaboration
with the Brandywine Bike Club. The overall Adopt-a-Highway program is administered by PennDoT. Our two clubs are responsible for hosting
four clean-up events throughout the year, that is, BCP and BBC would each be responsible for leading two clean-up events. The Adopt-a-Highway
program is very rewarding and satisfying - we are helping to maintain
the tidiness and beauty of a road which is frequently used by cyclists.
The BCP Member's Guide is now available on the web site. A
link to it can be found under the Join Renew menu. (Join Renew => BCP Member's Guide)
The BCP Board has recently determined the club's 2014 charitable contributions and/or
memberships to various bike related organizations that benefit the biking community in
general and our members. To view the allocation, please first log in, and then click
the Resources Link
in the Member Access menu.
Bike Shop Discounts
Discounts at participating bike shops are available to BCP members upon
showing the membership card (located on the last page of their most recent QR). Certain bike shops can
also check online whether a customer actually is a BCP member (encourage them to contact the club if
they don't have this feature).
Best of Philly Award
We are proud of the fact that the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia was named
the 2009 winner of Philadelphia Magazine's Best of Philly award for Intramural Sport.
The club sponsors an email list/list-serve. It contains the latest ride information and is where you can exchange
experiences and information about biking.
more information is available under the "More" menu Item and then "E-Mail List".
