For a birthday celebration, I'll lead a ride (from the middle of the pack, as usual) to the western suburbs. Can't say where, yet, but I promise the hills will be moderate and the road will be smooth. There's a post-ride party at my house to mark this milestone (which may or may not relate to the mileage). Come prepared to eat. I live at 2120 Chancellor Street, near 22nd and Locust Streets, in Center City. Call for details and parking options. Leader: Dave Finger, 215 561-3176, davederailleur@hotmail.com.

Saturday, July 13 - The Triskaidekaphobia Century. Class B+/B, 62 miles. Originally scheduled for Friday the 13th of last year, rain washed it out. I had to wait this long to find an appropriate date. So, here goes: Meet at the Italian Fountain at 7:00 for a metric century ride through the Main Line to the Glen Mills area. The early start will allow us to return in time for the BCP picnic. Cue sheets will be available for a return to Center City for those not attending the picnic. Saturday, July 13 - Center City to the Picnic. Class C, about 30 miles. Starts 10:00 from the Italian Fountain. Return via Andorra Rd and down Barren Hill Rd to the Schuylkill trail. Leader: Ann Martha, 215-548-8482.

Saturday, July 13 - Main Line Goes to the Picnic. Class C, about 30 miles. Starts 10:00 from the Ardmore Farmer's Market in the Suburban Square Shopping Center off Montgomery Ave. Work up an appetite meandering around the Main Line area as we find our way to the picnic. Saturday, July 20 - Delaware and Raritan Canal. Class B, 15-16 mph, 60 miles. From Jeff Reardon's collection of beautiful rides. We will ride through Mercer and Somerset Counties to the outskirts of New Brunswick in New Jersey. This year we will visit again the beautiful and historical Delaware and Raritan Canal that will transport us to the turn of the century (the 19th-20th century, not two years ago). If you missed the ride last year or the canoe trip last month, this is another opportunity to enjoy this beautiful park. The ride will leave at 9:00 sharp (no grace period) from Washington's Crossing in N.J. It's a good idea to get there at least 15 minutes earlier as the parking lot fills fast. From the south, take I-95 to the first exit in N.J. (Rt.29) and go north on Rt. 29 for about 2 miles to Rt. 546. Left on Rt. 546 to the parking lot on your right, before the bridge. Leader: Luis Figueroa, 215-683-1111 or 215-673-0785, luisbikefiggs@aol.com.

Saturday, July 20 - Peace Valley Park. Class C+, about 50 miles. Starts 9:00 from Bruno's, Germantown & Northwestern Aves in Chestnut Hill. A BCP "classic" ride, with a loop around Lake Galena, followed by lunch at the Bagel Barrel in Doylestown. Cue sheets. Expect hills around the lake area. Leader: Tom Stewart, 215-455-9168, tjstewart@erols.com.

Sunday, July 21 - Pine Barrens Canoe Trip. The Mullica River is the largest waterway in the Pine Barrens, located in Wharton State Forest, N.J. The Pine Barrens National Reserve covers about two-thirds of the land in the southern half of New Jersey and helps provide the river with the wilderness not found anywhere else in the state. Among the wildlife found in the river are painted turtles, beaver, blue herons and, if you are lucky, a bald eagle that is said to frequent the area for years. The river starts by Atsion Lake, on Rt. 206. Please contact me for directions and what to bring. We'll meet at 9:00 to launch by 9:30. Leader: Luis Figueroa, 215-683-1111, Luisbikefiggs@aol.com.

Sunday, July 21 - Butter Valley Bop. Class B, 15-16 mph, 50-55 miles of rolling and hilly terrain. Come with me as we explore some of the back country roads leading out to the Butter Valley Golf Course. You won't want to miss this extremely scenic route with a combination golf course/airport as the rest stop. Watch golf balls take off down the first fairway while they parallel a Piper. Just remember to look both ways and up when entering the driveway! No cue sheets, wet roads or rain at the start cancels. The ride leaves from Bikesport (325 West Main in Trappe, Pa.) at 9:00 sharp. Directions are at http://www.bikesportbikes.com/about_us.htm#directions. Leader: Wayne Gregory, 610-608-1967, wegregory@hotmail.com.

Saturday, July 27 - Doylestown for C Riders. Class C, 60 miles. Starts 9:00 from the Italian Fountain. Why should the B gang be the only ones to enjoy rides to Doylestown? A few of us are older and all of us are a bit slower going up the hills, but if we can do the distance, we should ride to Doylestown and back! Ann knows the way, and she knows a few good places for water, restrooms, and ice cream! Leader: Ann Martha, 215-548-8482.
