HELMETS are REQUIRED ON ALL RIDES
Saturday, June 3 - Roll Along the Back Roads! Class B-/C+, 12-14 mph, 40-50 miles depending on group. Meet 8:30 at the Folsom PathMark on MacDade Boulevard in Ridley Township. We'll bike to Neumann College, the highest point in Delaware County, and continue to the county's west end, swinging back through Media on the way back to PathMark. While the ride is C pace, bring strong legs for the hills, as they are definitely B+ rated. Bring money for a snack. Rain cancels. Leader: Frank Jackson, 215-620-0632 (cell), fjackson@rohmhaas.com.
Saturday, June 3 - Mt. Gretna. Class B, 15 MPH, 74 miles. 9:00 start from the Shady Maple Market in Blue Ball, Lancaster County. From Center City: I-76W/PA Turnpike to Morgantown Exit; S.R. 10 South to S.R. 23 West. Stay on 23 W as 10 S breaks off; the Shady Maple Market will be on the left, shortly after S.R. 897 joins S.R. 23. If you reach 322 S you have gone too far. Please park in the back, right portion of the lot. Driving time from Center City to start is approximately 1 hr. Our annual pilgrimage to Mt. Gretna, with its houses that appear to have sprung from the pages of a fairy tale. From the Shady Maple Market we roll through Amish country before entering the more wooded Lebanon County. We'll dine al fresco at the historic Jigger Shoppe in Mt. Gretna. After an optional tour of the town we head back over the "mountain" and finish the ride through more of Lancaster County's fertile farm land. Eduardo amended the original route several years back to take out some of the climbing, so the route is mostly rolling, but expect some hillier sections. Cue sheets will be provided, and a second stop is possible if conditions warrant. Call for a go/no-go message the night before if the weather is questionable. Hope to see a large turnout for this BCP favorite. Leader: David Ziccardi, 215-978-7531, d_ziccardi@yahoo.com.
Saturday, June 3, Tenth + Annual Oley Valley Strawberry Ride. A sociably paced C ride about 28 easy miles starting at 9:30 AM. from Daniel Boone Homestead. This great ride usually is more of a sociable event rather than a ride, and a good reason to eat strawberries, ice cream, cool whip, and the Lutheran Church also has other food. Exquisite country side with some rolling hills and a lush valley. A multi-club ride. No one dropped. Cue sheets provided. Bring sun block, fluids, snack, and money. The Daniel Boone Homestead is located off of US422. From the intersection of US422 and PA100, go west (seems north) on 422 for 8.4 miles to Daniel Boone Rd (at a light). Right on Daniel Boone Rd for 0.8 miles to the Homestead. Use the "jug handle" on the Right instead of making a more dangerous Left at the entrance at the Homestead. Park at the big parking lot, marked DeTurk Educenter, near the gate on the right. Can't miss it. Call or e-mail for more information. Ride Leader Arnie Roseman, 610.640.4529, Biker73pa@msn.com.
