HELMETS are REQUIRED ON ALL RIDES
Last Minute Adhoc/Add-on rides now included in this listing
Adhoc rides are last minute weekend rides appearing on this web page as late as 9PM each Friday evening.
Saturday, November 6 - Valley Forge National Park. Class B/B-, about 14 mph, 40 to 45 miles. Moderately hilly. A tour through Philadelphia's wealthiest suburbs to the place where our revolutionary forefathers suffered through a harsh winter. Rest and food stop in Upper Merion. Start from the Italian Fountain by the C Spinoff Rock at 8:45 for a prompt 9 AM start. Call if weather is questionable or very cold. Leader: Jeff Bakely, 215-843-1093, jbakely@verizon.net.
Saturday, November 6 - Cruise the Delaware Canal Towpath! Class C, 8- 10 mph, 45+ miles, with an option for a shorter distance ride. Meet at the Riverside picnic area of Washington Crossing State Park at 9:30 AM. Bring the family or just come yourself, but come join us for one of this year's best trail rides. During the ride we'll enjoy the autumn along the Delaware. We'll meander our way along the crushed stone trail north to Frenchtown, where we'll stop for a bite to eat before crossing over into Pennsylvania. From there we'll head south to New Hope, once again crossing the river back into New Jersey. Before departing to our cars we'll stop in New Hope at a delicious French bakery. As the trail is not paved, a hybrid or mountain bike works best, but a bike with touring tires will do the trick. Plan for a full day's adventure. Directions: North on I-95 and then NJ 29 North immediately after crossing Scudder's Falls Bridge. Continue N. on 29 for approximately 8 miles to Mercer County Rt. 546. Left, then quick right. Go to the back of parking area. Or take Septa's R3 train to West Trenton and then bike NJ 29 or canal path, about 5 miles to the park. Leaders: Steve Trobovic, 610-687-9229, wildyugo@comcast.net, and Pat Haggar, 610-896-1987, (home) or 610-517-8294 (cell, day of ride), phaggar@comcast.net.
Sunday, November 7 - The Delaware Flood of the Century. Class B, 100 miles at 15 mph avg, hilly on the second half. I followed part of this route late in the summer after the Delaware River went over its banks and devastated a huge area from the Delaware Water Gap to Bristol. Although I saw an incredible amount of damage to houses and land along the shore, the route was magnificent and the views of the river were superb and should be even better now that the leaves have fallen. We'll follow the river through the Water Gap to historic Millbrook (check http://www.nps.gov/dewa/InDepth/Sites/MV.html) along fairly flat roads, and we'll climb over the Appalachian Trail and the hills of northwestern Warren County, NJ on our way back to Riegelsville. A great century ride before you lose all that stamina during the winter months. Two food stops. Starts at 8 AM from Riegelsville, Pa. Take SR 611 North to Riegelsville on the Delaware River. Once in town, turn right at the light onto Delaware Ave., go for 2 blocks and turn right again onto Durham St. We'll meet in the small parking lot on the left side of the road, across from the grocery store. Approximately 45- minute drive from Willow Grove, Pa. Call if weather is questionable. Email if you would like a cue sheet for the ride. Leader: Eduardo Ruchelli, 215-572-0753, edr@mail.med.upenn.edu.
Sunday, November 7 - Exton to Valley Forge. Class C+, 13-15 mph, 35 +/- miles. Meet at Baird Park (next to the Uwchlan Township building) on Ship Road in Exton for a 9 AM start. This ride will wind out to Valley Forge Park, through the park, then back north of 113 to the starting point. Bathrooms will be available in Valley Forge Park, and we may stop at the Kimberton Whole Foods (public restroom) and/or the bakery at 113 and Yellow Springs (mmm, hot chocolate... but no public restroom). Expect some hills and a moderately brisk pace to keep warm. Bring water, snacks, and money. Snow or freezing temps at the start will cancel the ride. This ride is also listed with the BBC. Leader: Matt Rice, 610-280-6195, mrice@dca.net.
Sunday, November 7 - The Outer Fifty. Class B, B- pace, 14 mph. Why spend millions of your hard-earned money for a ride into outer space when you can ride the Outer Fifty of the Schuylkill Century for free? Mostly rolling hills in Chester Co. but none too ferocious. Leaves from Betzwood Parking Lot of Valley Forge National Park at 9:15 sharp. Rest stop is a breakfast place @ 26 mi. or so. They may have added a mini mart section by now, but it's not confirmed, so bring food if you skipped breakfast at home. Leader: Roger Burnham, 215-848-3545 til 10:30 pm. Forecast high of 45 or no go.
Sunday, November 7 - B Ramble to Frazer and Immaculata College. Class B, 40-mile and 55+ mile versions. Rest stop at about 20 miles in the Westown-Goshen area after passing through Ridley Creek State Park. Detailed instructions will be available for 40-mile return. Leader will continue on longer version. This is a ride that moves quickly because the roads are well graded. The return trip is usually fast because the route is downhill and the prevailing wind is usually at our backs. Meet at the Italian Fountain at noon. Leader: Jack Echols, 610-622-6997, jackvortex@aol.com.
Tuesday, November 9 - BCP Annual Meeting. 6:30 PM. Meet, greet, and and chow down with your fellow BCPers at McFadden's Restaurant, next to the new ballpark at One Citizen's Bank Way (10th & Pattison). There will also be a business meeting and election of new board members. See announcement elsewhere in this Quick Release.

In fact please RSVP by phone or e-mail for this ride. Meet at Carranza Memorial Parking lot on Carranza Rd., 6.7 miles SE of Tabernacle, NJ, for a 7 PM start. Leader: Joe 'Parts' Barolin, 856-265-1051, joepartsb@yahoo.com.

We start from Stabler Arena on the campus of Lehigh University and head through some quiet, bucolic, but very hilly back roads in Lehigh County. Possible snack & drink stop, but not much opportunity for food, so bring some power bars. Meet at the parking area (Lot F) in front of the arena at 9 AM. From Philadelphia, take your favorite route to 309 North, then bear right at 378 to Bethlehem. After you go under 78, follow the signs to Stabler. You will turn right onto Black River Road, then left at the T onto Bingen, which becomes, at the light, Mountain Drive South. Stabler will then be on your right. We will leave Narberth at 9:15 and head to Malvern for a food stop (Bakery, Wawa or Italian restaurant). This is a moderately hilly ride. Ride cancels if precipitation at 8 AM. Leaders: Robert Silverman, 215-977- 2282, rsilverman@wolfblock.com, and Henry Miller, 215-977-2182, hmiller@wolfblock.com.
