    Level B, 13.5 mph, 35 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Every Sunday through March we will ride 17.5 miles to Henning's Market in Harleysville for an indoor coffee break, then ride 17.5 miles back to Valley Forge. Plan is to be back in VF by noon.     Sun February 1, 2015 - Hike the Wissahickon - exploring trails less traveled

    Hike ALL, 4-5 mph, 6-8 miles. Gravel parking lot across from Walnut Lane Golf Course, Magdalena St & Walnut Ln, one block from Henry Ave, Roxborough.. The hike leaves at 9:30 am. Let's celebrate winter and explore some trails less frequently hiked in the Wissahickon Valley. We'll do some climbing, but there will be a flat option along Forbidden Drive, on the return. Well-behaved, four-legged canine hikers are welcome to join us. Optional group lunch at a nearby eatery after the hike. There are a couple of options for lunch on Henry Ave, near the parking lot where we meet. Please strongly consider using the on-line preregistration option -- preregistering is not mandatory, but it does save you writing time at the meeting place, and helps the Leaders by ensuring that your contact info is printed legibly.     Level D, 10 mph, 15-25 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. Ride in and around Fairmount Park area. Novice ride with safety and equipment instruction provided as needed. Helmet required, tools to fix a flat tire, water recomended. Snack stop along the way. We will regroup as needed.     Sun February 1, 2015 - Sunday Afternoon (Post-Hike) Winter Ramble Ride - Bruno's to Eagleville,

    Level C+/B-, 13-15 mph, 35 miles. Meet at Bruno's, Northwestern and Germantown Aves. The ride leaves at 1:15 pm. New route to Eagleville: outbound via Blue Bell and Trooper, return via Norristown Farm Park and East Norriton. Rest stop at mile 21 - choice of eateries - Wawa, pizzaeria, etc.. Total elevation gain 1870 feet of climbing. Leader will be riding her knobby-tire (heavy) bike, in case of icy patches here and there. GOOD NEWS: Days are gradually getting longer - we still have light after 5:00pm. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic, 30-35-ish mile loop, usually through Montgomery County or Lower Bucks, with a brief rest stop. Unless otherwise stated, this winter afternoon ride will meet at Bruno's Diner (finishing point for many of the Sunday morning Wissahickon hikes). Even if you don't join the hike in the morning, you are welcome to cycle with us on this ride! We will stop to regroup if needed, but try as much as possible to maintain 13 mph, due to short daylight. Plan is to return before 5:00pm. Please bring lights, just in case we return in the nick of time. Please ensure that your bike is ready before start time, so that we can leave promptly. Specific details will be posted for each Sunday's Route. Scheduled for EVERY Sunday throughout the winter (for the duration of the hiking season), weather permitting, EXCEPT Feb. 22. (Leader will be away cross-country skiing on 2/22). This ride will resume on March 1. If winter weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a snow activity. About 25 miles to Lloyd Hall at Boat House Row. Short bathroom break at Lloyd Hall. BRIGHT headlight and taillight required. Part of the ride is on the Schuykill River Trail that has no lights. Various ride leaders. Bring a snack and something to eat. Rain, wet roads, temps below 30 cancel. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Level C+/B-, 13-14 mph, 30 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 7:00 pm. Dress in your brightest reflective clothes, charge up your light batteries, and join us for a great workout on low-traffic roads. This ride will easily beat anything you can do on an indoor trainer. Don't lose that great conditioning just because it's darker now - seize the night and join the fun. Ride canceled if snow or ice is on the roads, or if precipitation is forecast between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. Low temperatures do NOT cancel the ride - add more layers.     Level C - B+, 13-17 mph, 25 miles. Power Line Trail on Dresher Road in Horsham, across from the hotel. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Various paces depending on who shows up. Various ride leaders. You must have a BRIGHT headlight and tail light as the power line trail has no lights. Ride also goes on the 202 bike path for a short while and through some neighborhoods.     Fri February 6, 2015 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. Upper Dublin High School to Trevose/Feasterville

    Level B-/C+, 13-14.5 mph, 44 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:45 am. For 2/6: Pretty loop from Upper Dublin High School in Fort Washington, to the Panera Bread Cafe in Trevose/Feasterville for lunch. Thank Goodness they keep opening new locations of Panera - we'll have a steady supply of bike routes! Today's outbound route will take us through Oreland, Jenkintown, and Bryn Athyn. We return from Trevose via Somerton, Rockledge, and Glenside. Indoor rest stop at Panera at half-way mark. Total elevation gain 2995 feet. We will stop to regroup as needed. No-one dropped, but we will try to maintain 13mph, as advertised. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year, with a few exceptions here & there. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot).     Level B, 13.5 mph, 53 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 9:00 am. With temperatures forecast in the mid 40's Saturday, I will be offering a longer route to anyone interested. The 35 mile loop will still be offered. Both routes will stay together up to the first stop at Kimberton Wholefoods, then you decide which distance is best for you. Cue sheets will be available.

    Sat February 7, 2015 - Delightful, Delicious D (and D+/C-) Ride, Saturday Edition - Glenside to Plymouth Meeting/Conshohocken. PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE - EARLIER START

    Level D/D+/C-, 8-12 mph, 24-25 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. This ride is for novice cyclists, newcomers to Phila., or for those seeking a gentle recovery ride. Anyone for hot coffee, tea, or cocoa, mixed with warm conversation? Scenic loop on mostly quiet, suburban roads from Glenside to Plymouth Meeting/Conshohocken to Panera Bread cafe. Indoor rest stop at mid-way point. We will climb a few hills here & there, but slow & gentle climbing (or walking up hills) is perfectly fine on this ride. We'll stop to regroup as often as needed. Cue sheets will be provided, but the route can be adjusted as needed. Ride is cancelled in the event of rain/snow/slick roads. Please contact the Leader if you have questions. The majority of the trails right now are very icy, so wearing yaktraks, stabilizers or some other ice gripper on hiking boots or shoes is strongly recommended. We'll be mainly on trails with some flat options. Well-behaved leashed canine friends are welcome. The hike usually lasts about 3 hours.

    Level C+/B-, 13-15 mph, 35 miles. Meet at Bruno's, Northwestern and Germantown Aves. The ride leaves at 1:15 pm. New route to Eagleville: outbound via Blue Bell and Trooper, return via Norristown Farm Park and East Norriton. Rest stop at mile 21 - choice of eateries - Wawa, pizzaeria, etc.. Total elevation gain 1870 feet of climbing. GOOD NEWS: Days are gradually getting longer - we still have light after 5:00pm. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic, 30-35-ish mile loop, usually through Montgomery County or Lower Bucks, with a brief rest stop. Unless otherwise stated, this winter afternoon ride will meet at Bruno's Diner (finishing point for many of the Sunday morning Wissahickon hikes). Even if you don't join the hike in the morning, you are welcome to cycle with us on this ride! We will stop to regroup if needed, but try as much as possible to maintain 13 mph, due to short daylight. Plan is to return before 5:00pm.     Sat February 28, 2015 - Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride

    Level B+, 16-17 mph, 40-55 miles. Meet at Main Line Cycles back parking lot, Narberth, PA. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Great roads with low traffic. Narberth through Bryn Mawr and out to Waynesborough Country Club. Then south to Ridley Creek State Park. Back through Villanova (and Gladwyne if the group wants more hills). No one gets dropped. Speed determined by the group. Bring a snack for brief mid-ride break. Rain cancels. Consider the on-line route approximate. Leave at 9:05AM. Cue sheets will not be available.     Sat February 28, 2015 - Jenkintown to Del Val College Market

    Level B-/C+, 13-14 mph, 46 miles. Jenkintown Whole Foods Market, the Fairway, ~1 mile east of Old York Rd/611. Far end of parking lot.. The ride leaves at 9:45 am. Pretty loop through Montgomery and lower Bucks Counties, to the farm market cafe at Del Val College in Doylestown (indoor rest stop at mid-point). Quiet roads, and part of the route will include the bike path of the new 202 Parkway. Rolling terrain with a few brisk climbs, not very steep. Total elevation gain 1900'. No one dropped, although, we will try to maintain at least 13mph as advertised. There are rest rooms at the starting point. Cue sheets will be available.     Sat February 28, 2015 - "Gear Up for Spring" Wellness Evening (Indoor Social Event, NOT a Ride) - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

    Hike ALL are welcome Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, 500 West Willow Grove Ave, Chestnut Hill. Meet in the Haber Room, on the first floor of Wissahickon Hall. The hike leaves at 6:00 pm. Special evening for BCP and SCU members, geared (no pun intended) to help us overcome the winter blahs and to get ready for the return of cycling this spring, just around the corner. A physical therapist, a bicycle fit expert, a sports performance psychologist, and a sports nutritionist will be sharing their expertise with us, re. how to prevent pain from interfering with your cycling & fitness program, how to prevent winter weight gain, how to make 2015 your best, most memorable and satisfying year of cycling ever, etc. Refreshments will be served, and we'll have raffle prizes to give away. Doors open at 6:00pm for socializing and refreshments, and the program begins at 6:30pm. Wissahickon Hall is the large, stately, gray stone building directly across the street from the tennis courts of Philadelphia Cricket Club.
