March, 2010 WEEKLY RIDES & GENERAL RIDE DESCRIPTIONSBCP offers regular weekly rides. Below is a general description of the weekly rides, with pace, mileage, starting time, location, and leader or coordinator. The weekly rides are also listed by date in the Monthly Ride Calendar which you should check for specific ride leaders and any additional information on the ride. Information about starting locations is available on our Ride Guide page which is found under the rides menu item. Sundays Valley Forge Winter Ride - Sunday Edition. Class B, 14 mph, 35 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms) at 9:00 AM. Meet every Sunday through March for a ride from Valley Forge to Harleysville. Indoor coffee break at the Hennings Market in Harleysville. Plan is to be back in VF by noon. Leader: Richard L. Wagner, , 610-964-1484. Northwest Philly Rides. C to B paces. We offer a variety of scenic rides into surrounding counties, often with a sit down food stop. Rides start at either Ft. Washington State Park Flourtown Picnic Area on W. Mill Rd., between Stenton Ave. and Bethlehem Pike (from the Chestnut Hill direction: 1st right on Stenton after Northwestern Ave., or from Bethlehem Pike left just after Acme) or Upper Dublin High School in Ft. Washington (corner of Ft. Washington Ave. and Loch Alsh). Check Monthly Ride Calendar for start locations, specific pace, distance, destination, and start time, as they will vary each week. Coordinator: Howard Hochheiser, 215-913-3246, . Hike the Wissahickon. 9:30 AM. The last listed hike for this season will be on March 7 followed by an end of season get-together at Howard and Cathy Hochheiser's house. Please join us as we celebrate another season of hiking and get ready to get back on our bikes. (Some of us never got off of our bikes). See the listing on March 7 for specifics. The weekly hikes will resume in November. Depending on the weather, there may be some ad hoc hikes so check the ride list on the web page. Coordinator: Debbie Hoellein, 215-833-5545, . Sunny Sunday C Spin-Off. 12:15 PM. A true C ride which cheerfully waits to regroup. Usually 25-30 miles. Meet at the Italian Fountain near the pergola entrance to the Azalea Garden, behind the Art Museum. Coordinator: Tom Witt, 215-977-2164, . Tuesdays MTB on the Pennypack Trails. Class C+/B-. Starts from the Pine Road entrance to Pennypack Park at 6:30 PM. Come enjoy the great outdoors (without cars) after dark! Lights and a trail permit are required (go to http://www.fairmountpark.org/TrailPermits.asp to purchase a permit). We ride for approximately 1-1/2 hours. Depending on the predicted weather and/or trail conditions, the ride may be cancelled or rescheduled for another evening. Call or e-mail to confirm that the ride is on or with questions.
