    Sat February 17, 2018 - Early Bird Beat the Snow Ride to Coffee in Flourtown via Upper Dublin (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B/B-, 14.5-15.0 mph, 48 +/- miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:20 am. Weather prediction for Saturday AM is cold, but dry, at least through the early part of the day. Assemble at 8:20. We willl leave at 8:25 SHARP! Ride through East Falls, Mount Airy, Chestnut Hill, Wyndmor, Fort Washington, Upper Dublin, Oreland, Whitemarsh, Ambler, Manayunk, and Bala Cynwyd. Many hills, but no killers. Thirty minute coffee stop at Starbucks in Flourtown at mile 30 or so. (It's all about the coffee.) Will regroup at top of long hills if necessary, but riders are expected to do the advertised pace (which is what our computers should read as "average" at the finish). Partial cue sheet showing turns, but not milage. PLEASE PREREGISTER: it saves time and improves substantially my ability to read your emergency information (and it does not matter if you do not show up since we will not be waiting for anyone beyond posted start time).

    Level B, 13.5 mph, 35 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Every Saturday thru March we will ride 17.5 miles to the Kimberton Wholefoods in Kimberton, have an indoor coffee break, then ride 17.5 miles back to Valley Forge. Plan is to be back in VF by noon.     Sat February 17, 2018 - Burlington, NJ

    Level D, 10 mph, 44 miles. Meet at Penn Treaty Park, Delaware Ave and Beach St . The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Two weeks ago we cycled to Bristol, PA. This week we will cycle to Burlington, NJ across the Delaware River from Bristol, hence the name Burlington Bristol Bridge. Cyclists can not cross this bridge so we will walk across the Tacony Palmyra Bridge with a coffee stop in Riverton, NJ. Lunch will be at the Burlington Dinner. The return will be over the Ben Franklin Bridge. Rain, snow or icy roads one hour prior to start, cancels. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Sat February 17, 2018 - Morning Ride - UDHS to Del Val College Market - before the wet weather CO-LEADER WELCOME (ad-hoc ride)

    Level C+/B-, 13-14 mph, 42 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Pretty loop from UDHS in Ft. Washington to Del Val College Market, just south of Doylestown. Outbound via Horsham, Warrington, and Furlong. Return via Gwynedd and Springhouse. On the outbound, there is a quick break for snack and bathrooms at mile 17. Lunch at Del Val College Market is at mile 28. Total climbing is 2000 ft. Rolling terrain, with no severe hills. Plan is to return by ~1:00-1:15pm. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing.     Sun February 18, 2018 - Hike along the Wissahickon and Cresheim Trails

    Level All levels are welcome, 3 mph, 6.5 - 8.5 miles. Meet at St. Martin train station, West Willow Grove Ave near Seminole St.. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Pretty hiking route along the peaceful Cresheim Creek, which feeds into the Wissahickon. We'll climb some hills, but there will be a flat option on the return. Well-behaved canine hikers are always welcome to join us. From the meeting point, we'll walk down Pocono St, then pick up the Cresheim Trail. After the hike, we will have several options for places to go for lunch. Gary and Tracey T. will be our Sweeps. It is optional, but you may preregister until Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:59 pm.

    Level D, 9-12 mph, 14-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. OWLS (older, wiser, longer, slower) paced through Fairmount Park and beyond depending on the assembled group of riders. No one dropped. There might a hill or two for a challenge and to help conditioning. Please wear helmet (required by club). Bring extra tube, water, proper dress for weather conditions, and $ for mid. Ride rest-snack stop. Ride will cancel if raini, snow, or icy roads, but not for cold.

    Sun February 18, 2018 - Sunday Afternoon (Post-Hike) Winter Ramble Ride from St. Martin train station to Whole Foods in North Wales

    Level C+/B-, 13-15 mph, 35 miles. Meet at St. Martin Lane train station, Willow Grove Ave near Seminole St.. The ride leaves at 1:15 pm. For 2/18: Pretty loop from Chestnut Hill (St. Martins train station) to the Whole Foods Market in North Wales. 1600 ft elevation. Outbound via Ft. Washington and Maple Glen, return via Gwynedd Valley and Blue Bell. Quick rest stop at Whole Foods in North Wales at mile 20. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic, 30-35-ish mile loop, usually through Montgomery County or Lower Bucks, with a brief rest stop. Unless otherwise stated, this winter afternoon ride will meet most Sundays at Bruno's Diner (finishing point for many of the Sunday morning Wissahickon hikes). Instead of Bruno's, we may on occasion meet at another location in Chestnut Hill. Even if you don't join the hike in the morning, you are welcome to cycle with us on this afternoon ride! We will stop to regroup if needed, but try as much as possible to maintain 13-15mph, due to short daylight. Plan is to return before 5:00pm. Please bring LIGHTS, just in case we return in the nick of time. Please ensure that your bike is ready before start time, so that we can leave promptly. Specific details will be posted for each Sunday's Route. Scheduled for EVERY Sunday throughout the winter (for the duration of the hiking season), weather permitting, EXCEPT for the last Sunday in February. (Leader will be away cross-country skiing.) This ride will resume on the first Sunday of March. If winter weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a snow activity, e.g., cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing. As long as we keep moving throughout the winter, we will maintain our base fitness level for the return of spring cycling in mid-March. Cue sheets will be available.     Wed February 21, 2018 - Nighttime Phoenixville Dog Rides

    Level B-/C+, 13.5-14.5 mph, 30-35 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:30 am. The rides of darkness are back every Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm until the return of daylight savings time. Maintain your fitness level with weekly 30-35 mile rides. Strong headlights and taillights required. These are beautiful rides on low-traffic roads. No one dropped, regroup as necessary, but please be prepared to ride the advertised pace on rolling to hilly terrain. Dress warmly. Extreme cold ( <20 degrees ), precipitation and/or icy roads cancels. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Fri February 23, 2018 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. This is the generic description. Specific details will be posted on daily calendar for each Friday.

    Level B-/C+, 13-15 mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Meet at Various starting points -- please check the daily . The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Depending on the destination, starting point may be in Conshohocken, Flourtown, Jenkintown, Wayne, Valley Forge, etc. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year, with a few exceptions here & there. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing. Cue sheets will be available.

So the last two Saturdays we have riden to Bristol, PA and Burlington, NJ, now put them together via Trenton and get very close to 73 miles. Remember Trenton Makes The World Takes. Lunch will be in Boredontown, NJ at a very fine hoagie shope with coffee stops before and after. Anybody for an ice cream cone at the Castle, Dredge Harbor? The + on the D ride is for distance. PATS MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT: The third annual PATS party and planning meeting will be in University City. Anyone interested in a multiple-rider bike is welcome. We'll socialize, eat and drink, share our cycling adventures, and plan the tandeming year ahead. We'll have the dates of some of the tandem rallies and other tandem-club ride schedules.
