Blue Bell Park

BCP's Annual Picnic

BCP’s Annual Picnic will be held on Sunday, May 31st, between noon and 3:00 p.m. The location is Blue Bell Park, right by the traffic circle at Walnut Lane & Park Line Drive in Wissahickon/Mount Airy. (The Park’s address is 842 West Walnut Lane, but your GPS may have trouble finding the entrance; more detailed directions are set forth below). We’ve reserved the pavilion there, so we will have a covered place in case of inclement weather. Everyone is welcome, including children. It will be a big BBQ, with picnic fare (various kinds of burgers, sausages, salads, chips, desserts, etc.). There are several club rides that will stop there, so you can both ride and attend the picnic that day.

Come see old friends and make new ones.

You can attend the picnic without signing up, but we would appreciate it if you do so. That will give us an idea of how many people plan to attend and therefore how much food to buy.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: If you like to bake, please volunteer to bake cookies or small cakes (for example, zucchini bread). That way, we’ll have great desserts. If you intend to bake something, please let me know several days beforehand, so that (a) we don’t have too many of the same thing (for example, chocolate chip cookies), and (b) we don’t end up with too much dessert (I don’t like people volunteering to bake and then their cookies/cakes aren’t even eaten). Please contact if you want to bake something.

We could still use a few volunteers to help out during the Picnic. If you’re willing and able, please contact me ASAP.

If you’re driving there, please bring some folding chairs. If you mark them with your name (suggestion: write your name on tape and affix it to the chair backs), that will make things easier when we are cleaning up.

The weather There is no rain date (because we reserved the location just for that date). But the event will occur unless the forecast is very bad. If we decide to cancel the picnic, we’ll send a notice on Saturday by email to our members and the Listserve. Please note that we have reserved the covered pavilion at the park, so even if it sprinkles, you’ll be under cover.
