This weeks ride will be to the Navy Yard with the group from Bike Temple. A no drop ride, with rest stops and re-group as needed. Helmet and Water a must. A light riding snack suggested.     Sun October 20, 2019 - Lambertville to the Black Bass Inn

    Level Tandem: 16mph, 14 miles. Meet at Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead Museum, 1605 Daniel Bray Hwy, Lambertville, New Jersey 08530. The tandem ride leaves at 10:45 am. We are going to ride the New Jersey side of the Delaware Canal Towpath from Lambertville north to the Park at Bull Island Park. We will walk the bikes across the footbridge there to the PA side and have lunch at the Black Bass Inn. The Black Bass Inn offers a diverse menu which is reasonably priced. It is located in a historic building and offers a sweeping view of the Delaware River, the PA Canal and the footbridge. https://blackbasshotel.com/ I am making lunch reservations for noon at the restaurant, so I need a head count of those interested as soon as possible. If your RSVP and your situation changes, I need to know it no later than 5 PM on Saturday, Oct. 19. After lunch, riders have the choice if either heading back to Lambertville, or getting in some more outbound miles on either the PA or the New Jersey side of the river. Please arrive at 10:45 and be ready to ride no later than 11 AM. Departure time will be crucial to arrive for our noon lunch reservation.     Level D: 9-12mph, 12-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride for any age through Fairmount Park and beyond depending on the group assembled. Please bring water, helmet (required by the club), extra tube, and $ for mid-ride snack. Recommend you bring sun screen to be applied mid-ride. Many smiles will be needed.

    Tue October 22, 2019 - RIDE YER BIKE TUESDAY

    Levels A-/B+: 16.5-17.5mph, B: 15-16mph, C+: 13-14mph, 44 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll head west to Schwenksville, with a porta-potty stop at mile 15 and a bring your own lunch stop at Heebner Park on the return (mile 31). Expect lots of low traffic country roads, hills of all types, and good company. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels). NOTE: THE RIDE STARTS FROM CENTRAL PARK, DOYLESTOWN NEXT WEEK. NOTE 2: IN NOVEMBER THE RIDE WILL BE AD HOC WITH DIFFERENT RIDE START LOCATIONS. WEATHER FORECAST WILL DETERMINE THE DAY OF WEEK AND TIME WE WILL RIDE.     Level C+: 13.5-14.5mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:30 pm. Nighttime rides on beautiful low-traffic roads. Rolling to hilly terrain. Lights are required. No one dropped, but please be prepared to ride the advertised pace. Temperatures below 20 degrees cancels. Precipitation cancels. Snow and ice on the route cancels.     Fri October 25, 2019 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. Linda will be leading the Fall Foliage Weekend in Hanover/Gettysburg this weekend (Friday to Sunday). The "regular" Friday Frolic will return next week, November 2.

    Level B-: 14mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Start location to be determined. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. OCT. 25: LMc will be leading the Fall Foliage Weekend in Hanover/Gettysburg (Friday to Sunday). Please visit BCPWeekends.org for event details. Pre-registration is required for the Fall Weekend. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk, or snow activity.     Fri October 25, 2019 - Annual Fall Foliage Weekend in Hanover/Gettysburg -- Friday, Oct. 25 through Sunday, Oct. 27

    Level B-: 14-14mph, 15-75+ miles. Meet at Hampton Inn of Hanover, PA, 309 Wilson Ave @ Einsenhower Drive, 17331. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. BCP's annual fall foliage bike tour of Hanover and Gettysburg, PA, and surrounding countryside in York and Adams Counties. Ride past peaceful horse farms, across creeks and lakes, and around the quaint town of Gettysburg, as well as through Gettysburg National Park (the Battlefield). Preregistration and payment are required. Event details and the registration page are available at: BCPWeekends.org Wide array of routes with various distances and terrains are available. Organized group rides with leaders. Hotel, meals, and snacks provided, post-ride parties, and live music. Cue sheet packets will include routes and maps. All-inclusive package.     Fri October 25, 2019 - "Early Bird" Coffee Ride to New Oxford (BCP Hanover Weekend)

    , 31+/- miles. Meet at Hampton Inn, Hanover, PA. The event starts at 2:10 pm. Level B-. 14 mph. Assemble at 2:10 pm. The ride leaves at 2:20 SHARP! This ride, for those able to get to the Fall Weekend early enough, will take us 15.5 miles to New Oxford for a 35-minute coffee break at a nice bakery (it's all about the coffee, but the baked goods here are pretty good), then another 15.5 miles back to the Hampton Inn. The ride has about 1,200 feet of climbing, the most difficult part of which will be encountered between miles 2 and 5. HISTORICAL NOTE: This route, courtesy of Rich Wagner, was called the "Donut Ride" until the made-to-order donut shop (adjacent to the still existing coffee shop) closed. LOGISTICAL NOTE: If you are unable to check into your room before the ride, you will be able to change into cycling clothes at the hotel and you can check into the hotel after the ride. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing.     Sat October 26, 2019 - At the FALL FOLIAGE WEEKEND in Hanover/Gettysburg: Irishtown, Biglerville, Orchard County, and a Lil' Bit of Gettsburg Battlefield

    Level B-: 14mph, 71-75 miles. Meet at Hampton Inn of Hanover, 309 Wilson Ave, Hanover, PA 17331. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Day 2 of 3 at the FALL FOLIAGE WEEKEND: one of the several ride options at this weekend event will be a tour of Irishtown, Biglerville, orchards, and a little taste of the Battlefield at Gettysburg. Scenic meander which begins at the Hampton Inn of Hanover, and winds through quaint towns and green countryside. Brief rest break for bathroom and coffee at Mile 13. Lunch stop at Mile 34 in Biglerville. Ride through a portion of Gettysburg Battlefield, and we can stop at the Visitors Center. At Mile 45, we have an option to detour off the cue sheet for a couple of miles to visit a historic covered bridge. Return to Hanover via Bonneauville. There is a convenience store at Mile 57, if needed. The main route is 71 miles. If riders would like to visit a few more landmarks and monuments in the Battlefield, this will add a few more miles (~75 total). Total elevation gain is 2621 ft - not too much climbing.     Level D: 11.5mph, 17 miles. Meet at Cadence Cycling and Cafe 201 S. 25th St Philadelphia. The ride leaves at 11:00 am. Meet at Cadence Cycling and Cafe located at 201 S 25th St easily accessible from the Schuylkill River Trail. Explore the Germantown neighborhood with lunch stop at Sister Muhammad's Kitchen, famous for their incredible fish hoagie. 17 mile ride at enjoyable 10 to 12 mph pace. Ride will be rescheduled for Sunday 10/27 at 11 am if rain is forecast for start of ride. Expect lots of pretty country roads, a relatively tame route to New Hope, with more hills on the return (particularly leaving New Hope, and then there's Valley Rd. - long but not steep) and good company. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels).
