Occasionally, ad-hoc rides are announced. These rides are sent by email to all members of the BCP email list. To join this list, click here.     Thursday Night C+ Hill Ride

    Level C+, 13.5-15 mph, 22-26 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 5:30 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Chainsmokers Training Ride

    Level B, 15-16 mph, 30-34 miles. Meet at 229 Haverford Ave, Narberth. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    Riding the less travelled roads of the Main Line starting in Narberth and extending west towards Valley Forge. We will ride to Valley Forge via Gypsy Lane and through the west end of the Park


    Delightful, Delicious "D" (and D+/C-) Ride, Thursday Evening Edition

    Level D/D+/C-, 10-12 mph, 15-20 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 6:10 pm.

    Easy-paced evening jaunt for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone interested in a gentle recovery ride. We'll do a loop around some of the many pretty streets in Glenside and surrounding neighborhoods, adjusting the route as needed to return before dark. Please bring lights if you have them for safety & visibility. Please contact the Leader with any questions, or if the weather is threatening. Ride is cancelled in the event of rain.     Conshohocken to Kimberton

    Level B-, 14-15 mph, 49 miles. SEPTA parking lot in Conshohocken, next to the Outbound Station (on Harry St, between Elm St. & Schuylkill River Trail), near Matsonford Bridge . The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    Scenic ride from Conshohocken to the Kimberton Whole Foods market in Chester County. The route is a classic Jeff Bakely cue sheet. Terrain is rolling with some brisk hills, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Enjoy some picturesque roads surrounding Valley Forge, near French and Pickering Creeks. Kimberton Whole Foods stop is at the midway point. On the return, we can stop at the convenience store in Audubon/Trooper, if needed. Please contact the Leader if weather is questionable.

    Philadelphia to Phoenixville Ride

    Level D, 10 mph, 60 miles. Formal Entrence to the Azalea Garden behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Long and easy ride to Phoenixville, PA via the Schuylkill River Trail. Out and back. No hills (when have you head this before?) We will stop along the way at the Out Bound Train Depot in Conshohocken for a coffee/latte and pastry. Lunch will be at one of the quaint restaurants in Phoenixville. D riders, you can do the distance - it just occupies your whole day! You will do it!


    Odell Warm Up Ride (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B to B-, 13-14 mph, 45 +/- miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    Get your legs tuned up for Sunday's Odell ride to Brooklyn. This ride will be over familiar roads of the main lline, heading through Conshy and into Chestnut Hill and Mt Airy before heading back to the MLK drive. Will be using the Five Hills cue sheet. Ride will average about 13-14 mph. Let's meet a few minutes before 8:30 at the Italian Fountain for a prompt 8:30 am departure. No rest stops are scheduled, although if we need to stop of a bathroom break...we will do so.


    Scenic Lebanon County

    Level B-, 14-16 mph, 68-70 miles. South Hills Park on Lincoln Ave, South Lebanon Township. The ride leaves at 9:00 am.

    Discover some picturesque new routes, courtesy of the Lebanon Valley Bicycle Club. Cycle through Amish & Mennonite farmlands, and green vistas. Lebanon County is filled with peaceful landscapes. Route will include 2-3 rest stops, and cue sheets will be provided. The route begins at South Hills Park on Lincoln Ave in South Lebanon Township: take the main PA Turnpike (I-276/I-76)westbound to the Lebanon/Lancaster Interchange (PA Route 72). Exit onto 72 North for 4-5 miles to Rocherty Rd. Turn right at Rocherty (Sheetz station on the corner). Stay on Rocherty for ~ one mile to Lincoln Ave. Turn left onto Lincoln, and follow Lincoln to South Hills Park. Parking lot is on the right, just past the Lebanon VA Hospital. Please plan on at least 75 mins driving time to Lebanon. Please contact the Leader if you would like to car-pool together from from Phila. area.


    Saturday C+ Ride

    Level C+, 13-14 mph, 40-50 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:15 am.

    Frequently we ride to Ambler but we may ride to other locations such as North Wales or Devon.     Peddler's Village to Hopewell, NJ (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B, 14 mph, 59 miles. Peddler's Village parking lot off Street road (behind the "Sugar Shack") in Lahaska Bucks County.. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    From Peddler's Village in Lahaska, we'll pedal to New Hope and cross into NJ and proceed to Ringoes for a quick water stop at mile 17. Then it's on to Hopewell, NJ for lunch at a cafe at mile 39. Then it is just 20 miles back to the cars. My cell number is 267-261-1677.

    7800 feet of climbing in 73 miles. The fastest average in 7 postings of this route is 13.5 mph. The average attendance is 2 riders. To entice a few more riders to try, I am lowering the expected average pace. This pace should be accessible to a "B" level rider. We will regroup at 12 mph. Slower, and bail out options will be available. Multiple QUICK H2O stops.


    Devon Whole Foods (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B, 15-16 mph, 40-45 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    Have you ever wondered how we cycled to Valley Forge National Park back when the bike club was started in 1979, before there was a Schuylkill River Trail? Come cycle the old route, it is still there, the roads that is. The donut shop in Bridgeport that makes a deep fried cake donut with cinnamon sugar is still there too and of course we must stop. One loop around the park before returning back to Philly via the easier route, The Schuylkill River Trail! Bring a packed lunch, PB&J sandwiches keeps well.

    Level B+, 16-17 mph, 40 miles. Parking Lot behind Main Line Cyles in Narberth. (Shop will not be open.). The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Ride to the Kimberton Wholefoods in Chester County with a rest stop at Ludwigs Corner. Not the same old, same old. I added some different roads, and of course more climbing to the original Kimberton ride. The first rest stop at the A-Plus is Ludwigs is not until mile 24, so come prepared. Lunch stop at the Wholefoods is at mile 42.Start is at the Visitor Center Lot. NOT BETZWOOD!


    27 Mile Bryn Athyn Cathedral Ride (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B-/B, 14-16 mph, 27 miles. Meet at Ft. Washington State Park, Flourtown Picnic Area. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    A short 2 hr ride with a quick 5 min. stop at the marvelous Bryn Athyn Cathedral for pictures. This ride will be listed in the new "Where to Bike in Philadelphia" book that will be released Sept. 29th. After taking some pictures of the cathedral we'll head directly back to Flourtown and get there no later than 11:30. Q sheets available. No lunch stops. Bring snacks if needed.Rain cancels ride.

    Join us for a dinner ride out to Phoenixville, complete with night ride return to Philly. Meet at Azalea Garden, behind the Art Museum in Philly for a 3:00 pm departure. The ride out will be made in daylight, and about half of the ride back will be made IN THE DARK - though we will be mainly on the Schuylkill River Trail bike path. Given the night riding, YOU MUST HAVE A HEAD LIGHT AND TAIL LIGHT!!! Additional helpful items: spare pair of CLEAR GLASSES to keep the bugs out of your eyes while riding along the river at night (a huge help!). We ride out, 28 miles, but it's pretty flat and effortless on the bike trail. Bring some cash as dinner and happy-hour specials will be enjoyed at the Bistro in P'Ville (dining on the sidewalk, bistro style; ~$20 per person w tip). And then we cruise the 28 miles back to Philly as the sun goes down. Oh, and did I mention...? Have a LIGHT!!! And CLEAR glasses! RSVP, please.

    Four-Day Bicycle Camping Tour to Washington, DC

    Level C, 12 mph, 65-50-50-50 miles. the Rocky statue in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    This will be the culminating bike camping touring trips for this cycling season. We used to do this tour at Easter Time but instead of camping there where Youth Hostels to sleep over. The first night will be close to Bowmensville, PA, second night close to Gettysburg, PA, the third night close to Harper's Ferry, WV then taking the C&O Canal Path into Washington, DC. We will take the train back to Philly Monday evening. Lots of hills, but last day flat. We will be carrying all that we need on the bikes, no sag, getting food along the way, either for cooking over the camp stove or eating out, when needed or desired. All costs shared. Train fare plus $10 bike handling fee which includes an over sized bike box. May need to pick up the bike the next day at 30th Street Station.

    Tyler Park and Dark Hollow

    This is a modified version of the "Newtown" ride in August. The beginning and end are the same (minimizing traffic and climbing), but the middle is completely different. We will be in Tyler Park for about 4 miles. Overall climbing profile is very moderate -- 37 feet/mile (not zero, but not evil). We will regroup as needed (traffic lights, hilltops, etc.).


    Northbrook Orchards Market (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B/C+, 13.5 mph, 55 miles. Ridley Creek State Park, at the park office parking lot. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    With the PASA ride routing through northern Chester County tomorrow, we will explore the southern parts of the county today. As well as southwestern Delco, and even a small portion of the state of Delaware. I will try to keep the pace at a moderate level. - Want to save our legs for PASA. One quick rest break in Chadds Ford (mile 20). A sit down lunch stop at Northbrook - mile 28 (hopefully outdoor). And an optional third stop, at a Wawa (mile 45), are planned.
