The Absolutely-Last Thursday Night Hill Climb

We'll pass a few horse farms and country clubs, too. If you are not familiar with the Church of the Saviour ride start location, we cyclists meet in the rear parking lot, near the athletic field. Brandywine River Valley Ride

Madle, , 215-233-2578Join us for a ride around the beautiful Brandywine River Valley in southern Chester County and Northern New Castle County.There is about 2000' feet elevation gain with no major hills on pretty back roads. There will be a short grocery store rest stop about 1/2 way through. Depending on turnout, we'll divide into two paces or ride as one group. Will regroup as needed. There are no restrooms at the Museum, so plan ahead - there is a big Wawa on northbound Rt. 1 several miles north of the Museum.
Saturday C+ Ride
Level C+, 13-14 mph, 40-50 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:15 am.

Delightful, Delicious D (and D+/C-) Ride, Saturday Edition
Level D/D+/C-, 8-12 mph, 25 +/- miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Cue sheets will be available.
Leader: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862Enjoy the "Wildlife, History, & Gardens" loop from Center City to the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge in Tinicum, then on to Old Fort Mifflin, Bartram's Gardens, then return to Center City. We will ride at a relaxed pace for novice riders, newcomers to Philadelphia, and/or anyone seeking a gentle recovery ride. The route is mainly flat, save for a few mild inclines -- we'll stop as needed to regroup after hills. Many of the roads have separate bike lanes. We will stop briefly at the Wildlife Refuge, Fort Mifflin, and Bartram's Gardens -- please bring snacks. Please contact the Leader if the weather is questionable. Rain cancels. On-line preregistration (open til 11:59 on Friday night) is not mandatory, but it does save you writing time at the ride start. Adopt-A-Highway road clean-up
Level walking, 2 mph, 0.5 miles. the first parking lot after crossing the covered bridge where PA 252 intersects Yellow Springs rd. in VFNHP. The ride leaves at 11:00 am.

Ride past Wilson Farm Park, along Pickering Creek, and on some lovely roads in Chester County. Rest stop in Ludwig's corner at mile 25. If needed, there is an optional Wawa stop on the return at mile 35. Total elevation gain is 3800 ft. Rolling to hilly course, but most of the climbing is in the first half of the ride (e.g., Welsh Valley Rd off Yellow Springs at mile 8, Birchrun Rd mile 26). The final segment is flat, along the Schuylkill River Trail. We will stop to regroup as needed. Please note: Next week's Friday Frolic (11/16) will leave from Montgomery County (Flourtown or Jenkintown.)

This scenic loop, near Delaware Bay, will take us on quiet, country roads through farmlands, marshlands, & across peaceful creeks. Terrain is very gentle -- mostly flat, with a couple of small climbs, but these are less than 150 ft each. Total elevation gain is 947 ft. Directions to the starting point at Fort Mott: I-295 South in NJ to Exit 1/NJ-49 E - Broadway for Pennsville/Salem. After 4 miles on NJ-49E/Broadway, turn right onto Fort Mott Rd, and stay on this road for 3.5 miles, til you get to the Bay. Entrance to the State Park will be on your right. From Center City Phila., drive time is ONE HOUR. Carpooling: Leader will be in parking lot of Conklin Playground, 15 E. Church Rd, Elkins Park, at 8:00am. Easier going up than coming back. If you shudder at the thought of a hilly ride, this ride is not for you. Waiting for the ride leader at the tops of hills will be mandatory. The old way out is much hillier so you can better appreciate all the hard work of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia over the past 30 years and the continuing advocacy they do for us. This means Umbia St, River Rd on both sides of the Schuylkill, and through King Of Prussia, plus once around Valley Forge Park! Yeah, we'll take the bike trail back!

This route is based on a ride led by Tom Madle and Katie Eberhart, with an additional loop around the lovely Hoopes Reservoir. Rest stop at mile 20. Total elevation gain is 3300 ft. We will stop to regroup as needed. Most of the climbing is in the first half. CARPOOLING: 8:30am - Leader will be in the parking lot of Conklin Playground, 15 East Church Rd, Elkins Park. We have 3 different groups (C, B and B+) which ride between 12 and 18 mph. We typically get @ 25 riders on warm nights. We meet 6pm at Jacobs Engineering parking lot, 2 Ash St., Conshohocken, PA. We leave the lot 6:15 sharp and head to the Philly Art Museum area via Roxboro, Manyunk and East Falls. We take a short 5 minute bathroom/snack break at Lloyd Hall before returning to Conshohocken by 8:30. Rain or starting temp. below 40F cancels the ride

Leader: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862Scenic loop from Flourtown & Chestnut Hill to Belmont Hills, Haverford, Wayne, Devon, and Valley Forge. From Valley Forge, we'll cross the Betzwood Bridge and return via the FLAT Schuylkill River Trail to Spring Mill, then Joshua Rd. Quick bathroom break at mile 16 in Haverford, & indoor rest stop at mile 28 in Valley Forge. Rolling hills with some steep climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Elevation gain is 3817 ft. Most of the climbing is in the first half. This route was revised to leave from the Hawk Watch of FWSP, in order to have rest rooms at the starting point.
