Leader: Clifford Schwinger, , 215-872-3559Philadelphia is a treasure trove of beautiful architecture. There are many old buildings in the city that are truly works of art - wonderful sculptures hidden in plain view. The problem is that we are usually too busy to stop and look up. On this ride we will stop - and look up! This ride is not a repeat of the architecture ride that I led back in August. We will be stopping at new old buildings on this ride! We will visit a number of quirky and interesting buildings and monuments - most virtually unknown (more specifically, un-noticed), and each with a fascinating story. We will not only learn about the buildings and architects who designed them, but also a bit about the history of Philadelphia. You have the option of either starting at my house at 39 Lanfair Rd, Cheltenham 19012 (where we will be leaving at 9:00) or meeting us at the entrance to the Azalea Garden behind the Art Museum (leaving at 10:00). We will be back at the Azalea Garden by 1:00 and back to my house by 2:00. The ride is 15 miles if you start at the Azalea Garden, 35 miles if you start at my house. Helmet required! You must be comfortable riding on city streets. Make sure your bike is in good working order and bring along a spare tube (or two). Dress warmly. Call or email me if you have any questions. Leader: Tim Carey, , 267-414-9037I really liked this little ride when we did it in August. Originally found on our way to Lake Atsion a few months back, we where looking for a morning coffee stop at Hadden Heights, but because of the early start, no place was open. Then a little bit farther we found the Barrington Luncheonette! We had a wonderful breakfast! So let's go there as our destination. Over the Ben Franklin Bridge, out Cooper River Park and then the tree line street of Hadden Township. We will explore a different route home.
