Leader: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862For August 1: Pretty route from Upper Dublin High School (Ft. Washington) to charming Carversville in Bucks County. Outbound via Spring House, Warrington, & Doylestown. Return via Lahaska, Horsham, & Maple Glen. Rolling terrain with a few brisk climgs, but nothing too steep. Total elevation gain is 2366 feet. Quick rest stop (bathroom break) at mile 16 at Doylestown Central Park, then a lunch stop at Carversville General Store at mile 27. On the return, we have an optional Wawa stop at mile 46. We will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain at least 13mph, as advertised. Plan is to return by ~3:00pm. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

Short rest stop (bathroom break) at mile 15 at Merrymead Farm Market. Lunch is at Wawa at mile 30 in Collegeville. On the return, if an additional water stop is needed, there will be a convenience store at mile 45. Part of the return route will include a short, paved segment of the Perkiomen Trail. We'll also cross the Perkiomen and the Skippack Creeks. Total climbing is 2726 feet, and we will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain at least 13mph as advertised, in order to return in time to enjoy the tailgate party. Leader: Clifford Schwinger, , 215-872-3559It is going to be a beautiful day on Saturday - so, join me on another ride where we will look at about a dozen wonderful old buildings, murals and monuments in West Philadelphia. The architecture in West Philadelphia is, in my opinion the most beautiful in the city. Since we will be riding primarily through West Philadelphia and University City - that means one thing - trolley tracks. If you get nothing else out of this ride you will learn the safety rules for safely navigating streets with trolley tracks. (Rule #1: Stay off of streets with trolley tracks when you can.) We will be back at the Azalea Garden by 12:30. The ride will be at a leisurely pace and we will be making plenty of stops. Bring your water bottle. HELMET REQUIRED! Today's route is the "Whole Foods Double Header", a pretty loop through eastern Montgomery County, from the Whole Foods Market in Jenkintown, to the Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting via Oreland and Blue Bell, then back to Jenkintown via Flourtown and Glenside. BRIEF snack & restroom stop at the Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting at mile 19. Total climbing is 1823 feet. Rolling terrain with a few brisk climbs, but nothing very steep. Please click on the route map link below to view the elevation profile. We will stop to regroup as needed, but we will try to maintain at least 13 mph average, as advertised. We'll meet 8:30am in front of the "Crafting Cellar" store in the Village Green parking lot. All rides leave 9am sharp. We'll ride and explore the area around Wharton forest and Tuckerton.The 60 mile loop will be led by Shore Cycle Club members Mike "K" (KMan) and Jim Wheatcroft and this ride will head all the way to the quaint coastal town of Tuckerton. Today's starting point will be Luray Manor, the meeting point for Tom Madle's weekend event. "DAY-TRIPPERS" are warmly welcome to join us for this Friday ride -- it is NOT necessary to register for the whole weekend package. We'll ride from Ocean City to Mays Landing and Tuckahoe, then circle back to O.C. on quiet roads. Nice views of the river near Mays Landing. We have a Wawa stop in Mays Landing at mile 21, then a rest stop in Tuckahoe at mile 34. Terrain is FLAT (674 ft elevation for the whole route), although we may have some headwinds. Please bring sunblock with you. If you are driving to Ocean City on Friday morning for this ride, please allow at least 75 mins drive time, due to normal weekday commuter traffic. Minimal Breaking Hill Ride for Coffee in Manayunk (ad-hoc ride)

We will climb Umbria, River Road, Manor Road, Oak Street, Jones Road, Gypsy/Hollow, Barren Hill, then back over Umbria and into Manayunk for our only rest stop (at mile 35) for coffee (it's all about the coffee). Regrouping if necessary, but riders are expected to be able to do the advertised pace (which is what our computers should read as "average" at the finish).

Quick rest stop (bathroom break) at mile 16 at Doylestown Central Park, then a lunch stop at Carversville General Store at mile 27. On the return, we have an optional Wawa stop at mile 46. We will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain at least 13mph, as advertised. Plan is to return by ~3:00pm. Frenchtown to Merrill Creek Reservoir Challenge. CARPOOLING AVAILABLE

Leader: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862Hilly but pretty loop through Warren and Hunterdon Counties, NJ, to the scenic Merrill Creek Reservoir. This route includes a couple of 400-ft climbs, and one 640-ft climb, but the vistas from the summits are magnificent. We'll be riding mostly on quiet and shaded country roads, but also passing through the quaint towns of Milford, Riegelsville, Stewartsville, and Bloomsbury. Initial and final stretches of the route, along River Road, are flat. The challenging hills section, ~10 miles of climbing, is in the middle. Total elevation gain is 5100 ft, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Food stops at mile 24 in Stewartvsille (before climbing to the Reservoir), and at mile 46 in Bloomsbury. (We'll also have a brief photo/scenery stop at the spectacular Reservoir at mile 31.) From the food stop in Bloomsbury, we'll descend to the village of Little York, then return to Milford and Frenchtown via downhill-to-flat roads. CARPOOLING: LMc is available to meet for car-pooling at 7:00 at a mutually convenient location in NE Phila. or eastern Montgomery County. Depending on where you live, please allow an hour for the drive to Frenchtown.
Collegeville, PA

My average pace will be on the slower end of 13-14 mph and so if someone wants to lead a faster group show up or contact me and I will list a co-leader for the ride. We'll keep a steady pace and effort but, as necessary, will wait to regroup. There will be some hills to climb on the ride and in order for the average speed to be 13-14 mph sometimes we will be going faster than 14 mph. Bring money for a snack.
