FOR JAN. 30: Due to the prediction for light snowfall overnight from Thursday into Friday morning, today's Friday Frolic will either be a shorter ride, or a hike/walk in Valley Green, depending on weather and road conditions. Meet at Bruno's in Chestnut Hill.....if we cycle, we have a variety of bike routes from Bruno's. If we hike/walk, we can walk from Bruno's down to Forbidden Drive into Valley Green. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Depending on the destination, starting point may be in Conshohocken, Flourtown, Jenkintown, Wayne, Valley Forge, etc. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year, with a few exceptions here & there. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

This hike is NOT FOR FIRST TIMERS. If it were a ride, I would grade it “B-”. The loop takes about 2 1 /2 hours. 1 large water bottle should be enough. Bring your GPS app and give me a precise distance and elevation. Meet in the upper parking lot near the information sign beside the mansion at 8:45 for a 9:00 AM start. If you email by 3:30 PM Friday, I will attach a PDF map to the reply. Thanks. HIKE UPDATE 1-30-15: Gloves and scarves and base layers, Oh My! Any brave hikers? I will see you there. Mike.
