Cycle across the campus of Cabrini College, cross some peaceful creeks and ride past serene landscapes and pretty countryside. We'll also pass Cheyney University. Total elevation gain 3500 ft of climbing. We will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain 13mph average, as advertised. Convenience store quick stop at mile 17. Indoor, sit-down lunch stop at mile 32 at the large and popular Whole Foods Market in Glen Mills. On the return, we have an optional Wawa rest stop if needed at mile 42. MINI TAILGATE PARTY: Leader will bring assorted snacks and soft drinks. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Frenchtown to Merrill Creek Reservoir Challenge. CARPOOLING AVAILABLE

Leader: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862Hilly but pretty loop through Warren and Hunterdon Counties, NJ, to the scenic Merrill Creek Reservoir. This route includes a couple of 400-ft climbs, and one 640-ft climb, but the vistas from the summits are magnificent. We'll be riding mostly on quiet and shaded country roads, but also passing through the quaint towns of Milford, Riegelsville, Stewartsville, and Bloomsbury. Initial and final stretches of the route, along River Road, are flat. The challenging hills section, ~10 miles of climbing, is in the middle. Total elevation gain is 5100 ft, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Food stops at mile 24 in Stewartvsille (before climbing to the Reservoir), and at mile 46 in Bloomsbury. (We'll also have a brief photo/scenery stop at the spectacular Reservoir at mile 31.) From the food stop in Bloomsbury, we'll descend to the village of Little York, then return to Milford and Frenchtown via downhill-to-flat roads. CARPOOLING: LMc is available to meet for car-pooling at 7:00 at a mutually convenient location in NE Phila. or eastern Montgomery County. Depending on where you live, please allow an hour for the drive to Frenchtown.

Return via Lahaska, Horsham, & Maple Glen. Rolling terrain with a few brisk climgs, but nothing too steep. Total elevation gain is 2366 feet. Quick rest stop (bathroom break) at mile 16 at Doylestown Central Park, then a lunch stop at Carversville General Store at mile 27. On the return, we have an optional Wawa stop at mile 46. We will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain at 13mph, as advertised. Plan is to return by ~3:00pm. There will be hills, small back roads, apple orchards, and the Trexler Nature Preserve with free ranging Elk and Buffalo (behind big fences). I have also seen foxes, eagles, and other strange critters. Bring the camera. The views are spectacular. PLEASE measure your ability. It is not necessary to āraceā up a hill, but you MUST have the cardio to recover at the top. Otherwise, it will be a very long day. This is NOT A āCā RIDE.
