BCP offers many regularly scheduled weekly rides. Occasionally, ad-hoc rides are announced. These rides are sent by email to all members of the BCP email list. To join this list, click here. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Pedal away the stresses of the work day, at a relaxed pace.n We'll cycle on peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery County. We'll be meeting in the small parking lot next to the ball field, and across the street from the high school. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Occasionally, this Monday night ride from UDHS may be cancelled, if there is a special Tailgate event at the COS ride in Wayne on the same date.

    Ride yer Bike Tuesdays

    Bring yer bike and sense of adventure. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll ride to the Outbound Station in Conshohocken via the Norristown Farm Park for a bite to eat. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to ride the listed pace. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels).

    Ride to and from the monthly Quick Release mailing party downtown at Cozen O'Connor @ 1700 Market St, to help Tom Witt and his crew with preparing to mail the new issue of the newsletter. Part of the route will include the Schuylkill River Trail along Kelly Drive, and some Center City streets with bike lanes. Please bring LOCKS, and LIGHTS for the return trip..


    Tuesday Night from North Penn High School

    Level C+/B-, 13-15 mph, various miles. North Penn High School - meet behind the school near the bus depot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Tuesday evening C+/B- ride from North Penn High School. We will meet at 6pm every Tuesday evening through the end of September. The rides will begin the season at 13-14mph and increase to occasional 15-16mph rides as the season slowly progresses. The riding distance is determined by the amount of sunlight. Come on out and discover new roads and routes. We never repeat a route during a single season.


    The Bulldog ride

    Level B, 16-17 mph, 27-32 miles. Meet at Bulldog Statue, 25th St. and Pennsylvania Ave.. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Winds thru the Schuylkill Park towards Ambler. On short days we turn left on Stenton Ave then take Joshua Rd to the Bike Path and home. When there is more sun light we cross Stenton, pick up Milia Hill Rd to the bike path and home.

Pedal away the day's stresses at a relaxed pace. Non-competitive ride on quiet roads through pretty, residential neighborhoods. We'll be meeting in the same parking lot as the "Multi-Paced Rides" listed above. We'll meet in the rear of the parking lot, near the Giant Market. Please bring LIGHTS in case we return close to dark. Cue sheets will not be available. Please note: One Wednesday per month (usually the second Wednesday), Linda cannot lead this ride, due to the BCP Board meeting. Linda will try to arrange another leader for this ride on Board meeting nights.


    Flourtown A- Rides

    Level A-/A, 17-20 mph, 25-35+ miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Meet at 5:50pm for a 6pm prompt start; light is precious. Routes on relatively lightly traveled roads in eastern Montgomery County and northwestern Philadelphia. Distance varies depending on the pace of the ride, type of route and available daylight (please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too) Check the monthly calendar for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels).


    Flourtown B/B+ Group

    Level B / B+, 15-17 mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    Phoenixville Dog Ride

    Level B-/C+, 13.5-14.5 mph, 20-35 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    One paces will be offered: 13.5-14.5 mph. No one dropped, regroup as necessary. These rides tend to be on the hilly side, compared to other start locations. Come on out and see why the regular riders are so enthusiastic about this ride. This is an excellent workout. Rides start at 6:00 and go until sunset. These rides are scheduled every Wednesday from May 4 until September 28. New this year - on the last Wednesday of each month, the ride will be a Day/Night ride, with lights required.

    Conshohocken Multi-Level Rides

    Level C+ and B, 13-14 and 14-16 mph, 20-30+ miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 2 paces on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Distance will vary with the pace and available daylight. Please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Check day of the ride for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels), and if a certain pace is not available.


    Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Level B-/C+, 13.5-15 mph, 25-30 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride


    "C"vilized Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Level C, 10-13 mph, 25 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 6:01 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    A slower "C" level version of the Thursday night hill ride, we start just after the B-/C+ group and climb the hills of Gladwyne using Tom Witt's five-hill route.

We'll start by riding on the Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, the Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill with Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we return close to dark.

    Friday Frolic Special Edition. Sandy Hook Seashore Trek (Rescheduled from Sunday, due to weather.). TWO LEADERS, TWO PACES

    Level B-, 14-15 mph, 70 miles. Visitor Center of Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Route 33 Business, Manalapan, NJ. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is http://ridewithgps.com/routes/9454582.

    Picturesque adventure ride from Central NJ to Sandy Hook, a 1665-acre barrier peninsula which protrudes into the bay between NJ & NY. Sandy Hook offers a view of the Manhattan skyline, as well as 7 miles of beaches, a lighthouse, and a holly forest. Shortly before reaching the seashore, we'll stop at the Mt. Mitchell Scenic Overlook County Park, which includes a memorial to the heroes of 9-11. This county park provides a spectacular overlook of Sandy Hook Bay and the NYC skyline. The route to & from Sandy Hook will take us along the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers, as well as the Swimming River Reservoir. Beginning and ending portions of the route are rolling, with a few brisk climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total elevation gain is 2189 feet. Middle portion of the route (near and on the beach) is flat. Food stops at mile 25 and 45, + an optional Rita's Water Ice stop at mile 62, near the finish. DRIVING DIRECTIONS to the starting point (Visitor Center of Monmouth Battlefield State Park): 1) NJ Turnpike North to Exit 8/Hightstown & Freehold. 2) From Exit 8 ramp, turn right onto NJ-33 East/Franklin St. Stay on 33 East. 3) After crossing CR 527/Millhurst Rd, NJ-33 will split into Business and Expressway. Take the right-lane exit for 33 Business, then bear right at bottom of ramp for 33 Bus East. Look for sign for Monmouth Battlefield Visitor Center. Turn left into Visitor Center entrance. Parking lot is at the end of a long driveway. Please allow at least 75 mins driving time from Phila. The map link provided below (you can zoom in) will show the start/finish point, the whole route, and the elevation profile. TWO LEADERS, TWO PACES: John Dwyer will lead the 13-14mph group, and Linda Mc will lead the 14-15 group.

    Level B-/C+, 13-15 mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Various starting points -- please check the daily . The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Depending on the destination, starting point may be in Conshohocken, Flourtown, Jenkintown, Wayne, Valley Forge, etc. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year, with a few exceptions here & there. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

    Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride

    Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing. Bring a snack for a brief mid-ride break. Consider the on-line routes approximate. Leave by 8:05 AM. Rain cancels.


    Memory Lane

    Level CCC+, 12 ish mph, 43 miles. Wilson Farm Park Lot on Rt 202 side: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6736486. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    Level CCC+ stands for Chester County C+ ride. The only flat part of Chester County is the trail, which will be the last 10 miles of the trip. Before that, the steep climbs are not long and the long climbs are not steep. That's about the best I could do after 4 revisions. Moderate pace, lots of shade, 2 H2O stops, and camera ready scenery. Yes, we will ride past Memory Lane.


    Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard

    Level D, 10 mph, 18 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    The Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard is now open on Saturdays and Sundays. Let's explore! The dry dock lined with mothballed ships, the Phila. Ship Co, Urban Outfitters, Tastykake Bakery, an exciting new building that looks like it falling over, old naval air field, of couse the up a close Delawear River. We will pass the sports stadiums on the way back, plus stopping at old location of the Navy Yard, and Washington Ave Green.


    Toss of the dice

    Level C+, 13-14.5 mph, 51 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. Cue sheets will not be available. The on-line route map is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/15625454.

    Friendly C+ ride today headed to King of Prussia with a rest stop at Wegman's. The route involves fairly steady uphill grade on the outbound route with a few short steep climbs. Rest stop isn't until mile 30 so a small snack and 2 water bottles may be necessary.The return to CC is mostly downhill. Cancellations can occur up to 30 minutes prior to scheduled start. If the latter day forecast is foreboding, there are several options to shorten the route for an earlier return.

    Blue Bell to the Lumberville General Store. SPECIAL EVENT after the ride. (Please see ride description below.)

    Level B-, 14-15 mph, 62 miles. Small parking lot at 1000 Jolly Rd (near Arch Street Rd), next to the NE Extension of the Turnpike, and across from the Paddock Room (white & red barn), in Blue Bell.. The ride leaves at 8:00 am.     Pretty route from Blue Bell to Lumberville, along the river in Upper Bucks County. Rest stop at mile 14 at Del Val College Market. Lunch stop at Lumberville store is at mile 28. On the return, we have an optional Wawa stop if needed, at mile 49. This route will cross the Neshaminy Creek, as well as Lake Galena in Peace Valley Park. Total elevation gain 3074 feet - nothing too steep. After lunch, we will be able to cycle away from the river on the newly restored and re-opened Fleecydale Rd. Fleecydale is a very gentle, meandering uphill. Plan is to return to Blue Bell by ~1:00-1:30, to minimize riding in the heat, and to be able to get to summer parties. PLEASE NOTE: There are no restrooms or porta-potties in the small parking lot where we are meeting, however, there are restrooms and a porta-potty in Wentz Run Park, at mile 1.0 on the cue sheet. SPECIAL EVENT: Later today, our sister club, SCU, will host its annual Members' Picnic & Pool Party*** at Mermaid Lake Swim Club across the street on Jolly Rd, next to the Paddock Room (white & red barn). (***The SCU party is for current, dues-paid SCU members only. If you plan to attend this SCU social, please ensure that your SCU membership is current.     Sunny Sunday Afternoon D Ride

    Level D, 10 mph, 15-25 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Come out and enjoy a leasurely bicycle ride thru Fairmont Park and or near suburbs. Especially apropreate for novice riders, new riders to the city and those new to group riding. Lots of tips on city cycling. Bring a helmet, tools to fix a flat tire ( we will coach you on how to fix a flat if the occasion deflates), water and a few dollars for a coffee stop.


    Sunny Sunday C Spin-Off

    Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 2 paces on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace.     Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the stresses of the workday, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Pedal away the stresses of the workday at a relaxed pace. We'll be meeting in the same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". We'll start by riding on the Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, the Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill with Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we return close to dark.

    I will be leading an easy ride to the ribbon cutting cerramony of the Sullivan Bridge connecting the Besttswood section of the Valley Forge National Park to the main section of the park crossing the Schuylkill River. Need to leave early, 8 am, since Besttswood is at the 22 mile marker of the Schuylkill River Trail and to include a coffee stop at the River's Bend Bicycle Shop and Coffee Bar. We will cycle over the bridge to the Valley Forge National Park visitor center before returning the way we came out. Most likely we will get back to Philadelphia just before 3 pm.


    SCU's Ocean City Cycling Weekend: Smithville,NJ to Wharton Forest and Tuckerton

    We'll drive to the historic village of Smithville located a few miles north of Atlantic City at the intersection of RT. 9 and E. Moss Mill Rd. Turn onto E. Moss Mill Rd from RT.9 and enter the 3rd parking lot on your right ( "Village Green" lot). We'll meet 8:30am in front of the "Crafting Cellar" store in the Village Green parking lot. All rides leave 9am sharp. We'll ride and explore the area around Wharton forest and Tuckerton.The 65 mile loop will be led by Shore Cycle Club members Mike "K" (KMan) and Jim Wheatcroft and this ride will head all the way to the quaint coastal town of Tuckerton. After our rides are finished there will be an optional lunch at @ 1:00-1:30pm at Fred and Ethel's Lantern Light Tavern in Smithville.     This route was created by Mike Krizauskas of SCU, BCP and the Jersey Shore Cycle Club. Today's starting point will be Luray Manor, the meeting point for SCU's week-long Ocean City event. "DAY-TRIPPERS" are warmly welcome to join us for this Friday ride -- it is NOT necessary to register for the whole week or weekend package. We'll ride from Ocean City to Mays Landing and Tuckahoe, then circle back to O.C. on quiet roads. Nice views of the river near Mays Landing. We have a Wawa stop in Mays Landing at mile 21, then a rest stop in Tuckahoe at mile 34. Terrain is FLAT (674 ft elevation for the whole route), although we may have some headwinds. Please bring sunblock with you. If you are driving to Ocean City on Friday morning for this ride, please allow at least 75 mins drive time, due to normal weekday commuter traffic. Our destination is the Paoli Memorial Park in Malvern where there is a revolutionary war memorial. Won't stop there long because of the distance needed to cover this day. Lunch will be down the hill at US 1 and ST 29 at Wagemans. Return route will be what I call the upper route - Yellow SpringsRd and Valley Forge Park.We will ease on down the Schuylkill River Trail back to Philadelphia.

Swim as you put the kayak in the Schuykill River. Paddle or drift down the river to the first set of high wires about 2.5 miles, Take portage trail to the canal (this portage is longer and therefore more tiering but worth the effort and You can drag the kayak), and paddle back to the "Fitz" Pack a lot of snacks. These rides are scheduled every Wednesday from May 4 until September 28. New this year - on the last Wednesday of each month, the ride will be a Day/Night ride, with lights required.

We'll try to squeeze in a peak at the Washington Memorial Chapel, before returning on the trail to Conshohocken.     For 8/26: Pretty loop from Upper Dublin High School to Tabora's in Chalfont for lunch, as well as some creamy, frozen refreshment. The first 27 miles are straight out the Schuylkill Trail to Phoenixville, then Cold Stream Rd to Pughtown Rd, Ridge Rd. and finally St. Peter's Rd where we will have lunch on the deck of a quaint restaurant over looking the rocky creek bed of French Creek. We will retrace our route back as not to add any more miles than needed for this C warmup in "doing the miles," anticipating our club's 20th Annual Scenic Schuylkill Century, Sunday, Sept. 11th..

    THE RIDE IS ON! You've done him. You've done his love child. Now do his grandson. New, even nicer way over the longest hill of the course on the way to lunch in picturesque Belvidere, NJ at the half way point. Return via scenic mostly empty roads through quiet communities with some nice views of the river. Good tune up for next weekend's Brooklyn ride. Two additional, short water stops if conditions warrant, including one at Paul-Mart in Phillipsburg. Can't guarantee a black bear sighting like we had last year, but we'll keep our eyes peeled. Periodic re-grouping after long climbs and descents, but if you are consistently far off the back or front you will be expected to navigate on your own. Due to the length of this ride, it will start on time, so please arrive at the start by 8:30 a.m. at the latest. Inclement weather, including extreme heat, cancels. We will ride between 25 and 35 miles ( we ride till sunset so the rides get progressively longer then shorter again as the season waxes and wanes). Expect all different types of terrain ( some flat rides, some hilly rides) and many different locations ( we'll ride in all 5 counties: Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware and Chester County.) This is a "Show and Go" which will be led by various ride leaders


    Flourtown C/C+ Group

    Level C/C+, 12-13 mph, 25-30 miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    Day/Night Phoenixville Dog Ride

    Level B-/C+, 13.5-14.5 mph, 40-55 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/16041338.

    From now until the end of September, the weekly dog ride will be a day/night ride, with headlights required. If you are new to night riding, this is a good introduction as half of the ride is in daylight, half is at night. Come out and join us for beautiful rides on low-traffic roads. One pace is offered: 13.5 - 14.5 mph. No one dropped, regroup as necessary. These rides tend to be on the hilly side, compared to other start locations. Come on out and see why the regular riders are so enthusiastic about this ride.
