BCP offers many regularly scheduled weekly rides. Occasionally, ad-hoc rides are announced. These rides are sent by email to all members of the BCP email list. To join this list, click here.     Friday Frolic w/Linda. This is the generic description. Specific details will be posted on daily calendar for each Friday.

    Level B-/C+, 13-15 mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Various starting points -- please check the daily . The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Depending on the destination, starting point may be in Conshohocken, Flourtown, Jenkintown, Wayne, Valley Forge, etc. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year, with a few exceptions here & there. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

    Every Saturday thru March we will ride 17.5 miles to the Kimberton Wholefoods in Kimberton, have an indoor coffee break, then ride 17.5 miles back to Valley Forge. Plan is to be back in VF by noon.


    Bristol Stomp

    Level D, 10 mph, 42 miles. Penn Treaty Park, Delaware Ave and Beach St.. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Bristol, PA is the Eastern terminus of the Delaware Canal with the Western terminus, Easton, PA. We will briefly explore the parts of the canal before having lunch at the Bristol Amish Market. A coffee break will be 10 miles into the ride. Return via Torresdale Ave. We might get to cycle on the soon to open Baxter Bicycle Trail running thru the Philadelphia Police Academy's firing range! Rain, snow or icy roads one hour prior to start, cancels.


    Ride to the bagel shop in Doylestown

    Level C+/B-, 13.5-14.5 mph, 35-40 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    The temps will be a little over freezing so dress in layers so that you can shed clothes if you get too warm while riding. Potty stops on the way out and back with a food stop at the bagel shop in Doylestown. Some hills, regroup as needed. Riders should be able to maintain the average pace. Bring an on bike snack and something to drink. Ride leader will make up the route as we ride.


    Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride

    No history lesson this hike -- we're making history today! Come on out to romp around the woods of the Wissahickon Gorge. We'll explore the the woods of the Cresheim Valley and more. Having worked up an appetite, you'll be ready for snacking your way to an Eagles Superbowl victory.


    Sunny Sunday Afternoon D Ride

    Level D, 10 mph, 15-25 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Introductory ride for those new to riding or looking to improve riding skills and fitness for the C rides. Ride will be in the Fairmount Park area, will regroup as needed and be tailored to the abilities of those participating. You will need a helmet, water, and a tube for your tire. A snack is strongly recommended, as we may not stop for food. Safety and equipment instruction provided as needed. Rain, snow, or ice on the roads one hour to the start time, cancels.


    Sunny Sunday C Spinoff - Witt not fully recovered from flu

    Level C, 11-12 mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:15 pm.

    A true C ride that cheerfully waits to regroup. Usually 25-35 miles, usually with a lunch or snack stop. Meet at the Italian Fountain, near the parking garage sign.


    Sunday Afternoon (Post-Hike) Winter Ramble - Bruno's to Eagleville, before our Super Bowl parties

    Level C+/B-, 13-15 mph, 35 miles. Meet at Bruno's, Northwestern and Germantown Aves. The ride leaves at 1:15 pm. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is http://ridewithgps.com/routes/6734963.

    Pretty route to Eagleville: outbound via Blue Bell and Trooper, return via Norristown Farm Park and East Norriton. Rest stop at mile 21 - "stand up" food & bathroom stop at a mega-Wawa to save time, in order to return in good time for evening Super Bowl festivities. Total elevation gain 1870 feet of climbing. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic, 30-35-ish mile loop, usually through Montgomery County or Lower Bucks, with a brief rest stop. Unless otherwise stated, this winter afternoon ride will meet at Bruno's Diner (finishing point for many of the Sunday morning Wissahickon hikes). Even if you don't join the hike in the morning, you are welcome to cycle with us on this ride! We will stop to regroup if needed, but try as much as possible to maintain 13 mph, due to short daylight. Plan is to return before 5:00pm. Please bring lights, just in case we return in the nick of time. Please ensure that your bike is ready before start time, so that we can leave promptly. Specific details will be posted for each Sunday's Route. Scheduled for EVERY Sunday throughout the winter (for the duration of the hiking season), weather permitting, EXCEPT for the last Sunday in February, 2/25. This ride will resume on the first Sunday of March. If winter weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a snow activity.

This morning's route will go out Bryn Mar Ave, the Cynwd Heritage Trail, over Manayunk Trail Bridge, up Umbia and following Rivser Rd to the back approach to Riverbend Cafe and Bicycle Shop. We ride to eat donuts.

Strong headlights and taillights required. These are beautiful rides on low-traffic roads. No one dropped, regroup as necessary, but please be prepared to ride the advertised pace on rolling to hilly terrain. Dress warmly. Extreme cold ( <20 degrees ), precipitation and/or icy roads cancels.

    Today's weather forecast calls for partial sunshine and reasonable high temps this afternoon. This is a pretty route from the Jenkintown Whole Foods Market to the giant Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting, then back. Outbound via Abington, Oreland, and Blue Bell. Return via Plymouth-Whitemarsh, Flourtown, and Glenside. Indoor rest stop for something hot at Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting at the half-way mark. Total elevation gain 1875 ft. Mostly rolling terrain, no killer climbs. Most of the climbing comes before the rest stop. MEETING POINT in Jenkintown: the Whole Foods Market on the Fairway is ~1 mile east of Old York Road/PA-611.     Come join us for a relaxed pace mid-winter ride to Phoenixville. This ride originally planned in December to see the Firebird the day before it burned was rained out. The Firebird is gone for now, but this time the forecast is for warm temps, light winds and no rain until the afternoon. Coffee stop halfway. Brief potty stops on the out and back. Re-group as needed. Route below is subject to change as needed to suit conditions.

    Level hike, 5-7 miles miles. Meet at Bruno's, Northwestern and Germantown Aves. The ride leaves at 9:30 am.

    Since it may rain on Sunday, we'll lead a gentler hike in the Wissahickon on Saturday. We will do the same terrain but at a slower speed than on the Sunday hikes. Unless otherwise stated, this winter afternoon ride will meet most Sundays at Bruno's Diner (finishing point for many of the Sunday morning Wissahickon hikes). Instead of Bruno's, we may on occasion meet at another location in Chestnut Hill. Even if you don't join the hike in the morning, you are welcome to cycle with us on this afternoon ride! We will stop to regroup if needed, but try as much as possible to maintain 13-15mph, due to short daylight. Plan is to return before 5:00pm. Please bring LIGHTS, just in case we return in the nick of time. Please ensure that your bike is ready before start time, so that we can leave promptly. Specific details will be posted for each Sunday's Route. Scheduled for EVERY Sunday throughout the winter (for the duration of the hiking season), weather permitting, EXCEPT for the last Sunday in February. (Leader will be away cross-country skiing.) This ride will resume on the first Sunday of March. If winter weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a snow activity, e.g., cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing. As long as we keep moving throughout the winter, we will maintain our base fitness level for the return of spring cycling in mid-March.

We will return to the Shake Shack on Penn's Campus to hand out flyers to their customers to present to the cashier when purchasing something and 25% of the purchase price will be donated to the Schuylkill Banks Trail maintenance fund. I will do this until 12:30pm. You are welcome to help out longer if you have more time.

    I went to a talk by Judy Wicks of the White Dog Cafe, book signing. She mentioned that one of the local businesses that one of her organizations, maybe Aunts and Uncles assisted was a coffee shop in Chester. Let's cycle there and find it. Weather is predicted to be good. We will be cycling thru industrial areas but there are good shoulders for us to safely ride. Only 15 miles and if you don't want to cycle back, catch the train home. This is a pretty route from the Jenkintown Whole Foods Market to the giant Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting, then back. Outbound via Abington, Oreland, and Blue Bell. Return via Plymouth-Whitemarsh, Flourtown, and Glenside. Indoor rest stop for something hot at Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting at the half-way mark. Total elevation gain 1875 ft. Mostly rolling terrain, no killer climbs. Most of the climbing comes before the rest stop. MEETING POINT in Jenkintown: the Whole Foods Market on the Fairway is ~1 mile east of Old York Road/PA-611.     Two weeks ago we cycled to Bristol, PA. This week we will cycle to Burlington, NJ across the Delaware River from Bristol, hence the name Burlington Bristol Bridge. Cyclists can not cross this bridge so we will walk across the Tacony Palmyra Bridge with a coffee stop in Riverton, NJ. Lunch will be at the Burlington Dinner. The return will be over the Ben Franklin Bridge. Rain, snow or icy roads one hour prior to start, cancels.

    For 2/18: Pretty loop from Chestnut Hill (St. Martins train station) to the Whole Foods Market in North Wales. 1600 ft elevation. Outbound via Ft. Washington and Maple Glen, return via Gwynedd Valley and Blue Bell. Quick rest stop at Whole Foods in North Wales at mile 20. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic, 30-35-ish mile loop, usually through Montgomery County or Lower Bucks, with a brief rest stop. Unless otherwise stated, this winter afternoon ride will meet most Sundays at Bruno's Diner (finishing point for many of the Sunday morning Wissahickon hikes). Instead of Bruno's, we may on occasion meet at another location in Chestnut Hill. Even if you don't join the hike in the morning, you are welcome to cycle with us on this afternoon ride! We will stop to regroup if needed, but try as much as possible to maintain 13-15mph, due to short daylight. Plan is to return before 5:00pm. Please bring LIGHTS, just in case we return in the nick of time. Please ensure that your bike is ready before start time, so that we can leave promptly. Specific details will be posted for each Sunday's Route. Scheduled for EVERY Sunday throughout the winter (for the duration of the hiking season), weather permitting, EXCEPT for the last Sunday in February. (Leader will be away cross-country skiing.)     See you next Sunday, on March 4! GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic, 30-35-ish mile loop, usually through Montgomery County or Lower Bucks, with a brief rest stop. Unless otherwise stated, this winter afternoon ride will meet most Sundays at Bruno's Diner (finishing point for many of the Sunday morning Wissahickon hikes). Instead of Bruno's, we may on occasion meet at another location in Chestnut Hill. Even if you don't join the hike in the morning, you are welcome to cycle with us on this afternoon ride! We will stop to regroup if needed, but try as much as possible to maintain 13-15mph, due to short daylight. Plan is to return before 5:00pm. Please bring LIGHTS, just in case we return in the nick of time. Please ensure that your bike is ready before start time, so that we can leave promptly. Specific details will be posted for each Sunday's Route. Scheduled for EVERY Sunday throughout the winter (for the duration of the hiking season), weather permitting, EXCEPT for the last Sunday in February. (Leader will be away.) This ride will resume on the first Sunday of March. If winter weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a snow activity, e.g., cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing. As long as we keep moving throughout the winter, we will maintain our base fitness level for the return of spring cycling in mid-March.

    We will go the back way to Conchochen through Penn Valley and up! But what goes up must go down through the secret passage of Prospect Hill into West Conchochen by the McDonald's and across the Fayette St. Bridge over the Schuylkill River to have coffee at the Outbound Cafe on the SRT. Straight and level ride back to Philly on the SRT.

    Tuesdays are Suzy-Jo Donut day at Riverbend Cafe without needing to go on to Bridgeport, PA. This morning's route will go out Bryn Mar Ave, the Cynwd Heritage Trail, over Manayunk Trail Bridge, up Umbia and following Rivser Rd to the back approach to Riverbend Cafe and Bicycle Shop. We ride to eat donuts.

    The rides of darkness are back every Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm until the return of daylight savings time. Maintain your fitness level with weekly 30-35 mile rides. Strong headlights and taillights required. These are beautiful rides on low-traffic roads. No one dropped, regroup as necessary, but please be prepared to ride the advertised pace on rolling to hilly terrain. Dress warmly. Extreme cold ( <20 degrees ), precipitation and/or icy roads cancels.

Then on to Dick's Sporting Goods to check out their cycling shorts and camping equipment. Straight out and back over the SRT.
