The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 13.5 - 14.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Level C: 13mph, 35 miles. Meet at Lake Parking Lot, French Creek State Park. The ride leaves at 10:00 am.
Leader: David C. Ziccardi, , 267-230-8995I’ll be rolling a three-day tour to French Creek S.P. on Friday and will need to pick up groceries on Saturday. Join me on ride to the famous Shady Maple Market in Lancaster via the lovely Conestoga Valley. Route highlights include numerous farms, a roadside menagerie and a covered bridge. Behind the market there is a large pen that is usually home to a few llamas and makes for a nice lunch spot. Return trip is a reversal of the route out. A few steep pitches in both directions, but nothing resembling a true climb. I will be riding my tank with fat tires and will have food to tote back, so this is not going to be a fast ride. I’ve never felt the need to lock up my bike outside the market, but bring a light lock if it will make you feel secure. Don’t know what cell service is like in the camping area these days so don’t count on being able to contact me on Friday. Due to the lack of cue sheets we will regroup at the turns and wherever else necessary.
