    Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride

    Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park.     Toss of the dice Ambler

    Level C+: 12-14mph, 45-60 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:15 am.

    Friendly C+ ride with various destinations: BE SURE TO CHECK THE DAILY RIDE CALENDAR FOR RIDE LEADER AND DESTINATION INFORMATION. Bring money for lunch. We will regroup as necessary and wait at turns within ride level expectations. YOU MUST CARRY A SPARE TUBE. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.     CANCELLED Hills out West

    Level B: 14.5-15.5mph, 50 - 70 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    Consider this the next step up from the Toss of the DIce "C+", further (50 - 70 miles) and with more hills (3000 - 5000). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.


    9:30am start - Frenchtown to Merrill Creek Reservoir Challenge.

    Level B-: 14mph, 63 miles. Meet at Frenchtown - parking lot just below Bridge St, between river and Canal Trail. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1579978.

    Hilly but pretty loop through Warren and Hunterdon Counties, NJ, to the scenic Merrill Creek Reservoir. This route includes a couple of 400-ft climbs, and one 640-ft climb, but the vistas from the summits are magnificent. We'll be riding mostly on quiet and shaded country roads, but also passing through the quaint towns of Milford, Riegelsville, Stewartsville, and Bloomsbury. Initial and final stretches of the route, along River Road, are flat. The challenging hills section, ~10 miles of climbing, is in the middle. Total elevation gain is 5100 ft, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Food stops at mile 24 in Stewartvsille (before climbing to the Reservoir), and at mile 46 in Bloomsbury. (We'll also have a brief photo/scenery stop at the spectacular Reservoir at mile 31.) From the food stop in Bloomsbury, we'll descend to the village of Little York, then return to Milford and Frenchtown via downhill-to-flat roads. CARPOOLING: LMc is available to meet for car-pooling at 7:00 at a mutually convenient location in NE Phila. or eastern Montgomery County. Depending on where you live, please allow an hour for the drive to Frenchtown.

    Sunny Sunday D Ride

    Sunny Sunday C Spinoff

    Level C: 13mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:15 pm.

    A true C ride that cheerfully waits to regroup. Plan, if weather appears favorable, is to head to the Giant in Flourtown for lunch, 35 miles roudtrip. Meet at the Italian Fountain, near the parking garage sign. Leave extra time to arrive due to Made in America road closings. Rain an hour before the ride or forecast over 50 percent during the ride will result in cancellation.

    Perkiomen Trail to Green Lane (and back)

    Level C+: 13.5mph, 42 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 9:00 am.

    Trail ride up the Perkiomen Creek. I will be inspecting my food stop for the SSC in Green Lane Park. 28 mm or wider tires highly recommended. Hybrid, cross, mountain bike friendly. Much of the trail is sand, stone dust, and quarter inch sized gravel. VERY scenic. LOTS of shade. Medium pace. 13-14 ish mph rolling average, primarily flat terrain. BRING SNACKS! Water stop available in Collegeville at mile 9 on the way up, mile 22 at Green Lane, and mile 33 on the way back. 2 comfort castles available on the trail.


    Easy Labor day ride to Valley Forge

Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Relaxed pace. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Meet in the small parking lot next to the ball field, across the street from the high school. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Occasionally, this Monday night ride from UDHS may be cancelled, if there is a special Tailgate event at the COS ride in Wayne on the same date.


    Church of the Saviour Multi-Level Rides

    Level A through D: 8-20mph, 13-45 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    Multi-level ride group with 7 different paced groups ( D, C, C+, B-, B, B+, and A). The 7 groups range from a slow D level "hybrid / road" group that rides no more than 15 miles at 8-11 mph pace up to our fastest pace "A" ride group that rides at 18-20 mph and anywhere between 20 and 50 miles depending on sunset times. We ride every Monday April thru September except when a Monday falls on a holiday. Rain cancels the rides. See a description of each individual ride group on the daily calendar.

    Bulldog ride

    Delightful, Delicious D (& D+/C-) Ride, Tuesday Evening Edition

    Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-25 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 5:45 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Scheduled for most Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Relaxed pace. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Meet in the library parking lot. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. This Tuesday evening ride meets on 3 Tuesdays each month. One Tuesday of the month (usually, the LAST week of the month), this ride is replaced by the Ride to the Monthly Newsletter Mailing Party, meeting at 5:00pm.


    Tuesday evening from North Penn High School

    Level B: 15mph, Sunlight determines miles. Meet at North Penn High School. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    The ride will depart from North Penn High School - meet behind the school near the bus depot at 6:00 pm. Ride Level: C+/B-, Speed: 13-15 mph. We will meet at 6pm every Tuesday evening through the end of September. The rides will begin the season at 13-14mph and increase to occasional 15-16mph rides as the season slowly progresses. The riding distance is determined by the amount of sunlight. Come on out and discover new roads and routes. We never repeat a route during a single season. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Gently paced, relaxed, post-work ride on quiet roads to pedal away workday stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking low-intensity recovery ride. Meet in same parking lot as "Multi-Paced Rides" listed above. Rear of lot, near Giant Market. (LANDMARK: Flourtown Shopping Ctr has McDonald's in the front, facing Bethlehem Pike.) Please bring LIGHTS in case we return close to dark. Cue sheets will not be available. Please note: One Wednesday per month (usually the second Wed), Linda cannot lead this ride, due to BCP Board meeting -will try to arrange another leader on Board meeting nights.


    Flourtown Multi-Level Rides, Every Wednesday April Thru September

    Phoenixville Dog Ride, B-/C+, 13.5-14.5

    Level C+: 13.5mph, 20-35 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    The daylight Phoenixville dog rides begin in May and continue through September. Rolling to hilly rides on low-traffic roads. Regroup as necessary. No one dropped, but please be prepared to ride the posted speed on rolling to hilly terrain. On the last Wednesday of each month, we will have a day/night ride. We start riding in the daylight and continue after sunset with headlights and taillights. A strong headlight and taillight are required. On the last Wednesday in June, we will ride a metric century.


    Weekly Flourtown A- Ride

    Level A-: 18-20mph, 25-45 miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Conshohocken Multi-Level Rides

    Levels B: 14-16mph, C+: 13-14mph, 20-30+ miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 5:45 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Meet at 5:30 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 2 paces (13-14, 14-16,) on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Distance will vary with the pace and available daylight. Please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels), and if a certain pace is not available. NOTE: START TIME IN SEPT. IS 5:45.


    Thursday Night Hill Ride - Earlier Start Time

    Levels B: 15mph, B-: 14mph, 25 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 5:45 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. This year we will have 2 different paced groups. Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph

Meet in same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". Start by riding on the Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, the Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill with Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we return close to dark.


    "C"vilized Thursday Night Hill Ride - NOTE EARLIER START TIME

    Friday Afternoon Frolic - UDHS to Jamison and Doylestown. THIS RIDE IS A DROP-OFF LOCATION FOR SCHUYLKILL CENTURY BAKED GOODS.

    Level B-: 14mph, 45 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 12:45 pm. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is UDHS to Doylestown for Easter Sunday Morning.

    Leader has to work in the morning, so this will be an afternoon ride. Pretty loop from Upper Dublin High School to Doylestown, with two QUICK rest stops for snacks & bathroom. Along the way, we'll ride through Horsham and Warrington, Jamison, New Britain, and Springhouse. We'll cross the picturesque Neshaminy Creek on Dark Hollow Rd. Quick rest stops - Wawa at mile 17 in Jamison, and Weis Market in Doylestown at mile 28. Terrain is rolling - total climbing is 2236 ft - nothing severe. Plan is to return by 4:45-5:00pm. Optional Preregistration has been set up here for your convenience. Preregistration is not required, BUT, it DOES save you writing time at the starting point, and, it helps your Leader by ensuring that your contact info is printed legibly. ATTENTION, SCHUYLKILL CENTURY BAKERS: Leader can pick up your baked goods today, either before or after the ride.

    Scenic ride to the Bowers Park Chile Pepper Festival (http://www.pepperfestival.com/Welcome.html). Beautiful scenery along mostly low traffic roads. Rolling to hilly terrain. Challenging yet manageable climbing miles 27-34 followed by long and fast 3 mile descent prior to stop at Bowers Park. Another 3 miles of climbing after rest stop / lunch at the Festival before flattening out and returning to rollers for remainder of return. Optional rest stop at Turkey Hill at mile 20, longer rest stop at midway point for lunch and final (optional) stop at Wawa at mile 63. No one dropped / regroup as necessary but please be prepared to maintain the advertised pace. CO-LEADER WELCOME - if you would like to lead a group at an alternative pace, THANK YOU!     This Sunday is a special day for the Bike Club of Philadelphia. It is the day of the Schuylkill Scenic Century. The 12 noon ride will be replaced this Sunday for rides to and from the SSC site at AIM Academy. There will be several rides leaving from the center city to ride to the start of the ride.     This week marks the 6th anniversary of the death of Brad Fox - a Plymouth Township Police officer who was killed in the line of duty on September 13, 2012. The ride will travel past Wings Field and Blue Bell stopping at the memorial on the SRT. It is highly probable that we will return after sunset so reflective clothing and strong head and tail lights are required. Rain or other nasty weather will cancel the ride.     Leader has to work in the morning, so this will be an afternoon ride. Pretty loop from Upper Dublin High School to Doylestown, with two QUICK rest stops for snacks & bathroom. Along the way, we'll ride through Horsham and Warrington, Jamison, New Britain, and Springhouse. We'll cross the picturesque Neshaminy Creek on Dark Hollow Rd. Quick rest stops - Wawa at mile 17 in Jamison, and Weis Market in Doylestown at mile 28. Terrain is rolling - total climbing is 2236 ft - nothing severe. Plan is to return by 4:45-5:00pm. Optional Preregistration has been set up here for your convenience. Preregistration is not required, BUT, it DOES save you writing time at the starting point, and, it helps your Leader by ensuring that your contact info is printed legibly.

This week will will head out to Valley Forge taking a lunch break at Wegmans, King of Prussia. Total hills will be ~ 4.500 ft. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.


    Saturday D Ride

Will regroup at top of long hills as needed, but riders are expected to achieve advertised pace (which is what our computers read as "average" at the finish). Quick rest stops - Wawa at mile 17 in Jamison, and Weis Market in Doylestown at mile 28. Terrain is rolling - total climbing is 2236 ft - nothing severe. Plan is to return by 4:45-5:00pm.     The daylight Phoenixville dog rides begin in May and continue through September. Rolling to hilly rides on low-traffic roads. Regroup as necessary. No one dropped, but please be prepared to ride the posted speed on rolling to hilly terrain. On the last Wednesday of each month, we will have a day/night ride. We start riding in the daylight and continue after sunset with headlights and taillights. A strong headlight and taillight are required. On the last Wednesday in June, we will ride a metric century.

    Friday Afternoon Frolic w/Linda. UDHS to Centre Square, Gwynedd, and Whole Foods Market in Springhouse

    Leader has to work in the morning, so this will be an afternoon ramble. Pretty route through eastern Montgomery County. Quick rest stop for bathroom at Centre Square Park at mile 20, then, a food stop at Whole Foods Market in Springhouse at mile 31. Total climbing 2226 ft. Plan is to return by 4:30-5:00pm. PLEASE NOTE: Morning Departure for the Friday Frolic ride will resume on October 12. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk, or snow activity. As long as we are enjoying outdoor exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

    Assemble at 8:00. We willl leave at 8:05 SHARP! Returning to the "classic" route, ride through Belmont, Wynwood, Merion, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, Radnor, Devon, Wayne, Gulph Mills, Conshohocken, Manayunk, etc., returning via Manayunk Bridge and Bala Cynwyd. Many hills, including 12 (or so) relatively long ones. One 30-minute coffee stop in Devon (Pour Richards) at mile 26 or so. (It's all about the coffee.) Will regroup at top of long hills as needed, but riders are expected to achieve advertised pace (which is what our computers read as "average" at the finish). PLEASE PREREGISTER: It saves time; and increases substantially my ability to read the important info on the sign-in sheet; and it does not matter if you do not show up since we will not wait beyond the scheduled start time..

Will regroup at top of hills if necessary, but riders are expected to maintain posted speed (what our computers read upon ride completion). PLEASE PREREGISTER: saves time; ensures that I will be able to read important emergency info; and no problem if you change your mind and don't show up since we will not be waiting past the posted departure time.
