    Tuesdays are Suzy-Jo Donut day at Riverbend Cafe without needing to go on to Bridgeport, PA. This morning's route will reverse our normal out Bryn Mar Ave, the Cynwd Heritage Trail, over Manayunk Trail Bridge, up Umbia and following Rivser Rd to the back approach to Riverbend Cafe and Bicycle Shop. Then after coffee we will take a loop up the Mid County Trail to Plymouth Meeting and back down Spring Mill Rd to River Road to home. We ride to eat donuts.

    Two weeks ago we cycled to Wayne, PA one way, let's cycle the other way. Parts of the ride is hilly but the return over Matsonford Rd is down to the Schuylkill River Trail and flat along the river. Will be back in Philadelphia around 3pm.

    Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Levels B: 15mph, B-/C+: 14mph, 25 -35 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 5:45 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 - 35 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. Two different paced groups: Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph. Bike lights are highly recommended. Optional after-ride drinks at local beer gardens (bring ID & money).


    Conshohocken Multi-Level Rides

    Levels A-/B+: 16.5-17.5mph, B/B-: 14.5-15.5mph, C+: 13-14mph, 20-30+ miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 3 paces on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Distance will vary with the pace and available daylight. Please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels), and if a certain pace is not available. NOTE: START TIME IN SEPT. IS 5:45.

    Celebrate the return of spring with a pretty route from Ft. Washington State Park to Audubon/Trooper. Outbound via Blue Bell, Centre Square, and Eagleville. At the lunch stop a mile 26, we have a choice of eateries - Panera (sit down), or mega-Wawa (stand up). We will return via the Audubpn Trail to Schuylkill River Trail to Conshohocken/Plymouth Mtg. Toward the end of the ride, we'll be heading north on the Cross-County Trail....we'll have an optional rest break, if needed, at the Barnes & Noble with cafe and restrooms. Total climbing is ~2000 ft. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions.     Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing. Bring a snack for a brief mid-ride break. Consider the on-line routes approximate. Leave by 8:05 AM.     Early Bird Slightly Slower Ride to Coffee in Ambler (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B-: 14.5mph, 48 +/- miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Assemble at 8:30. Depart at 8:35 SHARP! Ride through East Falls, Wyndmoor, Oreland, Fort Washington, Upper Dublin, Ambler, Flourtown, and Manayunk. Several hills but no killers. 35-minute coffee stop at Abyss in Ambler. (It's all about the coffee!). Will regroup at top of hills if necessary, but riders are expected to maintain posted speed (what our computers read upon ride completion). PLEASE PREREGISTER: saves time; ensures that I will be able to read important emergency info; and no problem if you change your mind and don't show up since we will not be waiting past the posted departure time.


    Progressive D Rides - Conshohocken .

    Level D: 10mph, 25 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    D riders , get ready for Summer cycling by going a little bit farther, a little bit faster with a little bit more confidence and skill on this progressive series D rides on each Saturday of April. Cycle each Saturday over the Schuylkill River Trail to Conshohocken, 25 mile , Bridgeport, 35 miles, Valley Forge, 45 miles, and Phoenixville, 55 miles! Do everyone and the leader will treat you to a beverage at the Steel City Cafe ! This week's progressive D ride is to Conshohocken.

    Hills out West - Malvern Buttery

    Consider this the next step up from the Toss of the DIce "C+", further (50 - 70 miles) and with more hills (3000 - 5000). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. The week will head out Malvern to to enjoy scrumptious sandwiches at the Malvern Buttery. As you are going to climb ~ 3,800 feet you will have deserved these. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.


    Lansdale to Ottsville/Brig O'Doon Cafe CO-LEADER WELCOME

    Scenic loop from Lansdale to Brig O'Doon Cafe in Ottsville, Bucks County. Outbound via Hatfield and Perkasie, return via Plumsteadville, Peace Valley Park, and Colmar. Brief rest stop for snack and bathroom at mile 19 in Pennridge. Lunch stop in Ottsville at mile 29. On the return, if another water stop is needed, we pass a Wawa at mile 49. Total elevation gain is 2529 feet. Please click on the route map link below to preview the elevation profile - there is a significant climb in the beginning, and one at the end. The middle of the route is mostly rolling. We will regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain the advertised pace.     Assemble at 8:30. We willl leave at 8:35 SHARP! Ride through Belmont, Wynnewood, Havertown, Haverford, Merion, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, Radnor, Devon, Wayne, Gulph Mills, Conshohocken, Manayunk, etc. Many hills, including 12 (or so) relatively long ones. One 35-minute coffee stop in Devon (Pour Richards) at mile 26 or so. (It's all about the coffee.) Will regroup at top of long hills as needed, but riders are expected to achieve advertised pace (which is what our computers read as "average" at the finish). PLEASE PREREGISTER: It saves time; and increases substantially my ability to read the important info on the sign-in sheet; and it does not matter if you do not show up since we will not wait beyond the scheduled start time.

    Memory Lane

    Very scenic ride out through Downingtown. The climbing happens in the first part of the ride, with the last 8 miles on the Chester Valley Trail. We will take a moderate pace with regrouping since it is early in the year, but it is not a C ride. (Yes, we will be riding on Memory Lane).


    G.R.I.T. Ride to Northbrook

    Level B-: 14mph, 45 miles. Meet at Shaw's Bridge Park located on South Creek Rd., West Chester, PA. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. The on-line route map is Northbrook 45(13-32)GRIT.

    Meander the scenic roads of Chester county toward Northbrook Market before making our return. Route will cover 32 paved miles and 13 gravel road miles.


    RIVERS, CREEKS, & BRIDGES in HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ CO-LEADER WELCOME

    Lovely, scenic route along peaceful roads in Hunterdon County. This ride is based on the "Three Bridges Loop" by author Tom Hammell. Many of the roads on this loop are familiar to us from other club rides, also. We'll cross creeks and brooks, as well as the Raritan River. Total climbing 2992 feet. We will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain 13mph, as advertised. There are two Wawa rest stops - at mile 16 in Flemington, and at mile 33 in Three Bridges. On the last stretch of the ride, if another rest stop is needed, there is another convenience store near mile 51 on the cue sheet.     Sunny Sunday D Rides

    Level D: 9-12mph, 12-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride for any age through Fairmount Park and beyond. Please bring helmet(required by club rules), water, $ for mid ride snack, and extra-tube. Please dress appropriately for the weather. The ride distance will be determined by the assembled group. There might be a hill or two to improve biking strength. We will regroup at the top of any hills to catch up on breathing. Some instructional biking info will be available on most rides.


    Sunny Sunday C Spin-Off

    Weekly Church of the Savoir (COS) Multi-Level Group Rides

    Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The event starts at 6:00 pm.

    This weekly ride is scheduled on Mondays starting on April 8, 2019 and is scheduled to end on September 30, 2019. The ride will depart from Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA at 6:00 pm promptly. Ride Level: D thru A, Speed: 10-20 mph, Distance: 10-40 miles. Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley ( over 100 riders). We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group ( rides at 8-10 mph pace for 15 miles ) up to our "A" group ( 18-20 mph up to 30-40 miles). All rides start 6pm sharp and finish at sunset ( the Hybrid group finishes at 7:30). We also have post-ride socials at the Great American Pub in Wayne as well as two "tailgate" nights in the COS lot where BCP and SCU provide free pizza and soda to all riders. We have experienced ride leaders and sweep riders so no one gets lost! We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.).     Delightful, Delicious D (& D+/C-) Ride, Tuesday Evening Edition

    Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-28 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Scheduled for most Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. This ride meets on 3 Tuesdays each month. One Tuesday of the month (usually, the LAST week of the month), this ride is replaced by the Ride to the Monthly Newsletter Mailing Party, meeting at 5:00pm.

    A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 - 35 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. Two different paced groups: Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph. Bike lights are highly recommended.     For April 12 - Pretty loop from Ft. Washington State Park to the Main Line. Outbound via Erdenheim, Chestnut Hill, Roxborough, and Haverford. Quick bathroom & snack break in Haverford at mile 18.5. Lunch stop at mile 31 in Valley Forge. On the return, we will try to catch up with Chuck Herbert's ride group at the Cabin Cafe in Valley Forge Park. After Valley Forge, we have a nice, 9-10-mile flat stretch along the SRT, until we exit the SRT at Spring Mill. Total climbing is 2870 ft. Most of the climbing is before the lunch stop. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk, or snow activity.     Join us for a sensibly paced 50-mile ride from the Art Museum to the Chapel Cabin Gift Shop and Cafe in Valley Forge National Park. We will go out and back along the Schuylkill River Trail. There will be some hills in Valley Forge, but otherwise the terrain is mostly flat. We will regroup as needed and gear our pace to the riders present, but please be prepared to ride at a 10-12 mph pace. Riders can feel free to return at a faster pace, if they would like to do so. Helmets required. Bring a smile, a spare tube, water, and money for a mid-ride snack. IF THE WEATHER REPORT LOOKS BAD FOR THE AFTERNOON, WE WILL SHORTEN THE RIDE.

    Pretty loop from the Philadelphia Canoe Club, site of our Spring Kick-Off Picnic scheduled for later today. On the outbound, we will meander through East Falls, Mt. Airy & Chestnut Hill, Ft. Washington, Ambler, and Springhouse. We'll have a quick rest stop at the mega-Wawa in Gwynedd. We will return via Blue Bell, Plymouth Meeting, and the Schuylkill River Trail to Manayunk. Toward the end of the ride, we will avoid the traffic on Main St in Manayunk by taking the Manayunk Bridge Trail across the river to the Cynwyd Heritage Trail, then re-cross the river on the Penncoyd Bridge, before returning to the Canoe Club. Plan is to finish by ~12:00 - 12:15, in order to help with setting up for the Spring Kick-Off Picnic.     Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley ( over 100 riders). We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group up to our "A" group. All rides start 6pm sharp and finish at sunset ( the Hybrid group finishes at 7:30). We also have post-ride socials at the Great American Pub in Wayne as well as two "tailgate" nights in the COS lot. We have experienced ride leaders and sweep riders so no one gets lost! We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.). One hill of note (Iron Hill - not very long, but about a 10% grade at the top) plus one gradual uphill as we approach our lunch stop. Otherwise, the usual PA rolling hills. Mix of suburban and country roads, and some paved trails. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Ride through Bala Cynwyd, Wynnewood, Havertown, Haverford, Merion, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, Radnor, Devon, Wayne, Gulph Mills, Conshohocken, etc. Many hills, including 10 (or so) relatively long ones. One 35-minute coffee stop in Devon (Pour Richards) at mile 22 or so. (It's all about the coffee.) Will regroup at top of long hills as needed, but riders are expected to achieve advertised pace (which is what our computers read as "average" at the finish).     I was told that the Pennsylvania Canal Trail has been completed form Bristol,PA to Morrisville, PA. This is also a section of the East Coast Greenway which when completed, cyclist and pedestrians can go from the Canadian border in Maine to Key West, FL on an off road trail. Let's check it out with a train assist from 30th Street AMTRAK Station, to Croydon, PA, cycle to Bristol then find the trail, talking it to Morrisville and then go on to Yardly, for the 3:01 West Trenton line back to Philly. A full day excursion. Lunch iether at the Amish Farmer's Market along the trail north of Bristol or in Morissville. Meet in front of the Saxby's coffee stand by 9:45 am.

    The Carranza Memorial commerates the spot of the crash landing of Emilio Carranza, the "Lindbergh of Mexico.” Steve Trabovic has suggested a ride for Saturday, July 13th, when each year Mexicans remember their fallen heros. The memorial is deep in the Tabernacle Woods of the Wharton State Forrest. We need to scout out a route. We will meet 8:30 am at Cosmic Cafe to catch the 9:03 train to Lindenwald PATCO high speed line station. Or meet us there to begin the by 9:30 am. This an all day ride. Bring a lunch because we don't know where services will be.

    A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 - 35 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. Two different paced groups: Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph. Bike lights are highly recommended.     Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley ( over 100 riders). We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group up to our "A" group.     A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 - 35 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. Two different paced groups: Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph. Bike lights are highly recommended. Optional after-ride drinks at Parks -on-Tap at the Azalea Garden (bring ID, money, & lock).

    Conshohocken Multi-Level Rides

    Levels A-/B+: 16.5-17.5mph, B/B-: 14.5-15.5mph, C+: 13-14mph, 20-30+ miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 3 paces on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Distance will vary with the pace and available daylight. Please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels), and if a certain pace is not available. NOTE: START TIME IN SEPT. IS 5:45.

Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). We will regroup at the top of any hills to catch up on breathing. Some instructional biking info will be available on most rides.


    Sunny Sunday C Spin-Off

    Ride on the SRT from Oaks to Conshocken. We will stop off at the Conshohocken Brewery before we ride back. Tandem and single bikes are welcome. Pace will be slow - 10-12 mph. No one will be dropped.


    Oaks to Conshohocken

    Level Tandem: 10.5-15mph, 26-30 miles. Meet at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park. The tandem ride leaves at 1:00 pm.

    This is a low milage, low speed ride on the SRT. If you want to extend your ride, either by riding on from Conshohocken, or at the end of the ride, feel free. We will depart from Lower Perkiomen Valley Park, 101 New Mill Rd, Norristown, PA 19403 and ride the SRT to Conshohocken. There will be a stop at the Conshohocken Brewery for fuel and hydration and then ride back to Oaks. Ride pace will be 10-12 MPH. Ride time will be about an hour each way with the stop at the brewer lasting 45-60 minutes Also, we will make a shorts stop at Betzwood Park to maybe pick up some additional riders and take a group photo on the bridge. I have opened this up to friends and family, and so expect about 15 bikes if the weather is good. If you have friends who just want to come out and ride, either on singles or tandems, invite them along.. I would appreciate RSVPs for this no later than Friday, April 25 so I have a general head count for Sunday.

Occasionally, this ride may be cancelled, if there is a special Tailgate event at the COS ride in Wayne on the same date.


    Church of the Saviour Multi-Level Rides

    Levels A through D: 10-20mph, 10-40 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will be available.

    Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley ( over 100 riders). We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group up to our "A" group. All rides start 6pm sharp and finish at sunset ( the Hybrid group finishes at 7:30). We also have post-ride socials at the Great American Pub in Wayne as well as two "tailgate" nights in the COS lot. We have experienced ride leaders and sweep riders so no one gets lost! We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.). Rain cancels the ride but look at Meetup for last minute updates when weather is questionable.

    Tuesdays are Suzy-Jo Donut day at Riverbend Cafe without needing to go on to Bridgeport, PA. This morning's route will go straight out Kelly Dr bike path, reversing our normal out Bryn Mar Ave, the Cynwd Heritage Trail, over Manayunk Trail Bridge, up Umbia and following Rivser Rd to the back approach to Riverbend Cafe and Bicycle Shop. Then after coffee we will take a loop up the Mid County Trail to Plymouth Meeting and stop at Dick's Sporting Goods Store to check out cycling shorts and tights, then back down Spring Mill Rd to River Road to home. We ride to eat donuts.

Rolling hills with relatively mild first elevation gain heading to New Hope, followed by the majority of elevation gain on the return - nothing steep, but a number of longer gradual climbs. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws.Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels).
