BCP offers many regularly scheduled weekly rides. Occasionally, ad-hoc rides are announced. These rides are sent by email to all members of the BCP email list. To join this list, click here.     CANCELLED Not so Early, Not so Fast Ride to Coffee in Lansdale from Manayunk (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B-: 14.5mph, 50 +/- miles. Meet at Manayunk theater parking lot. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Assemble at 9:30. Depart at 9:35 SHARP! Going out via Upper Dublin High School and Cedar Hill Road, return via Gwynedd Mercy University and Brushtown Road. Several hills but no killers. 35-minute coffee stop at Backyard Beans. (It's all about the coffee!). Will regroup at top of hills if necessary, but riders are expected to maintain posted speed (what our computers read upon ride completion). MUST PREREGISTER: NO RIDE IF NO ONE PREREGISTERS.

    Gently paced, relaxed, post-work ride on quiet roads to pedal away workday stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking low-intensity recovery ride. Meet in same parking lot as "Multi-Paced Rides" listed above. Rear of lot, near Giant Market. (LANDMARK: Flourtown Shopping Ctr has McDonald's in the front, facing Bethlehem Pike.) Please bring LIGHTS in case we return close to dark. Cue sheets will not be available.     Flourtown Wednesday Ride 15-16 mph average

    Level B: 15-16mph Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Conshohocken Multi-Level Rides

    Levels A-/B+: 16.5-17.5mph, B/B-: 14.5-15.5mph, C+: 13-14mph, 20-30+ miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 3 paces on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Distance will vary with the pace and available daylight. Please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels), and if a certain pace is not available. NOTE: START TIME IN SEPT. IS 5:45.


    Delightful, Delicious "D" (and D+/C-) Ride, Thursday evening Edition

    Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-28 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the stresses of the workday, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride - relaxed pace. Meet in same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". Start by riding on the Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, the Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill with Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we return close to dark.


    Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Levels B: 15mph, B-/C+: 14mph, 25 -35 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 - 35 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. Two different paced groups: Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph. Bike lights are highly recommended. Optional after-ride drinks at local beer gardens (bring ID & money).


    "C"vilized Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Levels C: 12mph, 25 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 6:01 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    A true C level version of the Thursday night hill ride. Early season we will likely abbreviate the route to try to beat the darkness home.

    Friday Frolic w/Linda. This is the generic description. NO FROLICKING on May 3, due to the BCP Spring Weekend in Danville. This ride will resume next week, May 10.

    Level B-: 14mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Start location to be determined. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    Deferred for May 3, due to the Spring Weekend in Danville. This ride will resume next Friday, May 10. Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk, or snow activity. As long as we are enjoying outdoor exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

    Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride

    Levels A: 18mph, 40-55 miles. Meet at Main Line Cycles front of shop 919 Montgomery Ave. The ride leaves at 8:05 am. Cue sheets will not be available. The on-line route map is http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1940076.

    Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing. Bring a snack for a brief mid-ride break. Consider the on-line routes approximate. Leave by 8:05 AM.     Early Bird Slower Ride to Coffee in Devon (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B-: 14.5mph, 48 +/- miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Assemble at 8:30. We willl leave at 8:35 SHARP! Ride through Belmont, Wynnewood, Havertown, Haverford, Merion, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, Radnor, Devon, Wayne, Gulph Mills, Conshohocken, Manayunk, etc. Many hills, including 12 (or so) relatively long ones. One 35-minute coffee stop in Devon (Pour Richards) at mile 26 or so. (It's all about the coffee.) Will regroup at top of long hills as needed, but riders are expected to achieve advertised pace (which is what our computers read as "average" at the finish). PLEASE PREREGISTER: It saves time; and increases substantially my ability to read the important info on the sign-in sheet; and it does not matter if you do not show up since we will not wait beyond the scheduled start time. P.S. As of Thursday afternoon, I am seeing a 51% chance of rain for Sat. AM until 10:00. Be sure to check Ride Calendar at 8:00 AM for possible cancellation notice.

    These rides will focus local neighborhoods around Philadelphia County and will include places like old buildings, historic places and murals. Easy rides for new riders to biking, with Safety Instructions and How To ride in a group. A no drop ride with rest stops and re-group as needed. Helmet and Water a must.     FERADO'S BIRTHDAY RIDE, Trenton and Back

    Level D: 10mph, 72.2 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Come celibrate Fernando' s birthday by cycling his age in miles. This was rained out in March so we will need to cycle two tenths of a mile longer. That's the way we bicyclists celibrate our own birthdays, don't we? Trenton, NJ is the destination, and crossing back into Philadelphia over the Tacony Palmyra Bridge. Lunch in Bordentown, NJ.


    Toss of the dice

    Level C+: 12-14mph, 45-60 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am.

    Friendly C+ ride with various destinations: BE SURE TO CHECK THE DAILY RIDE CALENDAR FOR RIDE LEADER AND DESTINATION INFORMATION. Bring money for lunch. We will regroup as necessary and wait at turns within ride level expectations. YOU MUST CARRY A SPARE TUBE. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.


    Hills out West - Wegman's KOP, the hilly way and back to Parks on Tap.

    Consider this the next step up from the Toss of the DIce "C+", further (50 - 70 miles) and with more hills (3000 - 5000). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. This week we'll climb ~ 4,500 ft. The ride will end at Parks on Tap at Rittenhouse Town (bring ID). Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time depending on weather.


    UDHS to Tabora's bakery

    OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) pace ride through Fairmount Park and beyond. Distance will be determined by the group assembled. Please bring helmet (required by club), water, extra tube, $ for mid-ride snack, and remember to use sunscreen. There might be a hill or two for building up muscle by resistance biking. We will regroup and allow breathing to catch up.

    Scheduled for most Monday evenings throughout the summer. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Mileage will depend on the length of evening daylight. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Occasionally, this ride may be cancelled, if there is a special Tailgate event at the COS ride in Wayne on the same date.


    Church of the Saviour Multi-Level Rides

    Levels A through D: 10-20mph, 10-40 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will be available.

    Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley ( over 100 riders). We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group up to our "A" group. All rides start 6pm sharp and finish at sunset ( the Hybrid group finishes at 7:30). We also have post-ride socials at the Great American Pub in Wayne as well as two "tailgate" nights in the COS lot. We have experienced ride leaders and sweep riders so no one gets lost! We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.). Rain cancels the ride but look at Meetup for last minute updates when weather is questionable.

    Tuesdays are Suzy-Jo Donut day at Riverbend Cafe without needing to go on to Bridgeport, PA. This morning's route will go out Bryn Mar Ave, the Cynwd Heritage Trail, over Manayunk Trail Bridge, along the Manayunk Canal Tow Path and SRT to Riverbend Cafe and Bicycle Shop. Return via the Cross Country Trail, Plymouth Meeting loop to REI. Back down to River Rd and up Shawmont. We ride to eat donuts.


    RIDE YER BIKE TUESDAY

    Levels A-/B+: 16.5-17.5mph, B-: 14-15mph, C+: 13-14mph, 46 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will not be available. The on-line route map is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28386852.

    Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll have a quick bathroom break at The Del Val Farm Mark (mile 15.5) and then ride to Tabora Farms (mile 26) for a bite to eat. We'll climb a few good hills as we loop around Lake Galena, which will be good training for the SCU Quad. Otherwise, the usual PA rolling hills. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels). RIDE STARTS @ 9:00 June-August. THE LAST RIDE OF THE MONTH STARTS FROM CENTRAL PARK, DOYLESTOWN.

    A gentle C-/D+ ride from the Art Museum to the High Point Cafe at Allen Lane Station and back -- out via Midvale Ave., back via the Wissahickon Trail (paved, not Forbidden Drive). We will leave late enough to avoid the morning traffic.

    A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 - 35 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. Two different paced groups: Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph. Bike lights are highly recommended.     CANCELLED, DUE TO RAIN Pretty loop from Upper Dublin High School into Bucks County, meandering to the Lumberville Store on River Rd for a mid-ride snack break. This ride will leave early morning, in order to return home early to spend the rest of the day with Mom. On the outbound, at mile 15, we can take a quick bathroom break at Del Val College Market in Doylestown. The Lumberville Store is at mile 27. On the return, if another bathroom break is needed, there is a Wawa near the route around Mile 47. SHORT-CUT OPTION: if you would like to shorten your miles to return earlier, there is an option to turn around in Doylestown, which would cut off ~20 miles. Total climbing for the 54-miler is 2341 ft - mostly rolling. Plan for the 54-miler is to return before 1:00pm.

    Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley ( over 100 riders). We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group up to our "A" group. All rides start 6pm sharp and finish at sunset ( the Hybrid group finishes at 7:30). We also have post-ride socials at the Great American Pub in Wayne as well as two "tailgate" nights in the COS lot. We have experienced ride leaders and sweep riders so no one gets lost! We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.). Rain cancels the ride but look at Meetup for last minute updates when weather is questionable.

Share camp fee of $12.00. pack a lunch, recommend peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We will eat dinner at a pizzaria full service restaurant. We will boil water for instant hot chocolate, coffee or tea in the morning before breaking camp. Full breakfast will be at a restaurant along the trail in Schwenksville.     This mostly flat ride along the Delaware Bay is based on a route byTom Hammell of the Princeton Freewheelers, and author of the book “Road Biking in New Jersey”, as well as roads used by BCP Dave and the Jersey Shore Cycle Club. Cycle through quaint small towns in Cumberland County, NJ, across placid lakes, rivers and ponds, past beaches and a wildlife refuge filled with waterfowl, and the East Point Lighthouse. Pass the tranquil Lake Nummy in Belleplain State Forest. Total elevation gain is only 574 feet. In lieu of hills, we should expect headwinds. We will have long continuous stretches without slowing or stopping. We have Wawa rest stops at mile 20 and mile 43, as well as a sit-down lunch stop at mile 61. Please bring plenty of fluids, energy snacks. Bringing a CUE SHEET CLIP is highly recommended, in order to keep your cue sheet handy.     Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley ( over 100 riders). We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group up to our "A" group.     Wanting to cycle tour to the Kent County Spring Fling, Baltimore Bicyle Club? Join me for the two day ride to Chestertown, MD. on Washington College Campus. We will overnight in Smyrna, DE Thursday and on to Chestertown, MD Friday, early afternoon. Dining out for all meals, motel overnight will be our individual costs. The route will go down to Wilmington along the Individual Highway, The Jack A Merkell Trail to New Castle, DE, and Rt 9 toward Smyrna, 50 miles. The next day's ride is a straight shot South, 35 miles. You could arrange from other members for a ride back on Monday but I will cycle back via Elkton, MD, anther two days of cycling and motel overnight. All you need to do, register for the event with the Baltimore Bicyle Club, panniers on your bike to carry your clothes for three days including inclement weather gear.     FLOURTOWN TO SKIPPACK: Pretty route through Montgomery County, passing through Ambler, West Point and Worcester, on the way to Skippack. Quick restroom break at Fischers Park at mile 16. Wawa rest stop at mile 24. Total elevation 1946 feet - mostly rolling terrain. Regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain at least 13 mph, as advertised. Assemble at 7:50am, in order to start promptly at 8:00am. Earlier start time today, due to Friday afternoon getaway for the Memorial Day Weekend. Plan is to return by 12 noon.     Century trek on mostly flat-to-gently-rolling roads from Chestertown, MD, north to Chesapeake City (along the C & D Canal), across the Mason Dixon line to quaint Middletown and Odessa, DE, then returning to Maryland's Eastern Shore. Cycle mostly on lightly traveled roads with wide shoulders. Total elevation gain is 2164 feet. We'll pass through charming small towns, and cross the scenic Sassafras and Bohemia Rivers. Rest stops available at mile 19 (Galena), 39 (Chesapeake City), 51 (Wawa in Middletown, DE), 61 (Wawa north of Odessa). On the return, we can stop in Galena again at mile 88. Stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain 14mph, as advertised. SHORT-CUT OPTION: On the return, staying straight on 213 South directly to Chestertown will shave off several miles. Please note: in lieu of hill-climbing, we'll have HEADWINDS for part of the route.     Explore the SRT from near Phoenixville to Reading at an OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride. While some of the trail north of our start will be on crushed stone it can be done by road bikes. We will go into downtown Reading to the Peanut Bar and Grill or if we are too tired and hot we will go to the Queen Dinner in West Reading. Bring water and extra water, extra tube, helmet (required by the club), sunscreen. We will have several stops along the way. It will be a long day, so be prepared for changes in weather. The ride will initially be a mix of dirt and loose rocks, and then become mostly smooth crushed limestone and paved trail. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. Two different paced groups: Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph. Bike lights are highly recommended. Optional after-ride drinks at local beer gardens (bring ID & money).


    CANCELLED Conshohocken Multi-Level Rides

    Levels A-/B+: 16.5-17.5mph, B/B-: 14.5-15.5mph, C+: 13-14mph, 20-30+ miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available. The on-line route maps are: Route for C+ Group, Route for B/B- Group and Route for A-/B+ Group.

    Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 3 paces on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Distance will vary with the pace and available daylight. Please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels), and if a certain pace is not available. NOTE: START TIME IN SEPT. IS 5:45.

    Level B-/C+: 13-15mph, 51 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is Glenside to Evansburg.

    Pretty route from Glenside through Montgomery County, to Evansburg State Park. Outbound via Ambler, West Point, and North Penn. Return from Evansburg via East Norriton, Centre Square, and Flourtown. Two quick WAWA rest stops - one at mile 18 (North Penn), and one at mile 35 (East Norriton). Total climbing is 2259 ft, as per https://ridewithgps.com/routes/12735572. POST-RIDE MINI-TAILGATE PARTY: Leader will bring assorted snacks and soft drinks. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

    Ride from the Art Museum to the High Point Cafe at Allen Lane Station and back -- out via Midvale Ave. and the Walnut Lane Bridge bike lane, back via the Wissahickon Trail (paved, not Forbidden Drive).
