Version #1 Conshohocken State Rd, the shortest and easiest to navigate, #2 Mill Creek Rd, Hollow Rd, Hagesford Rd. #3 backwards version of #2 climbing out of the Schuylkill River Valley at Flat Rock Park on Mill Creek Rd, all the way gentley up to Ardmore's Farmers Market for coffee. #4 Youngs Ford Rd, Wayerly Rd. #5 Merion Squre Rd, maybe the steepest, #6 doing Wayerly Rd, Youngs Ford Rd version backwards.     FOR 2/5: POST-SNOWSTORM HIKE OR SNOW-SHOE along the serene Pennypack Trail in Bryn Athyn and Huntingdon Valley. Roads are still not clear enough for safe cycling, until after the Friday thaw. Please wear sturdy hiking shoes. Please bring hiking poles and traction cleats or snow-shoes. Total elevation gain is only 234 ft - mild upgrade heading north, downgrade on the return. COVID PRECAUTIONS: Please bring a mask and hand sanitizer, and wear your mask as much as possible. Please maintain at least 6 ft of social distancing at all times. Please PREREGISTER to avoid having to sign it at the starting point. START/FINISH: Pennypack Trailhead parking lot on Welsh Rd/PA-63 & Terwood Rd is between Wheelworks Car Wash and JD's Auto Repair.     I really liked three weeks ago ride to the Media Bean Company, so lets do it again but adding five more miles by circling the Philadelphia International Airport! There are some rollers of hills even as we ride through West Philly. Plus there is one humongous hill on Rose Tree Rd out of the Crum Creek Valley.     South Jersey received significantly less snow in this past week's snowstorm, compared with Southeastern PA. Thanks to the sunny thaw on Friday, the bike-friendly roads in Hammonton and points farther south are now clear, dry, & safe This scenic route is based on a Tom Madle cue sheet from a few years ago. Pretty loop from Hammonton to Historic Smithville, for an OUTDOOR lunch stop at the half-way mark (mile 26). Cross the scenic Mullica River. Pass through the cute towns of Port Republic and Egg Harbor City. There is a lake with outdoor seating near the coffee shop at Historic Smithville. If Smithville is crowded, we can go to the nearby mega-Wawa, 2 blocks away. COVID PRECAUTIONS in Effect: Please preregister at the link below, for non-contact registration. Please bring hand sanitizer and a mask. Please practice safe distancing - 20 ft apart while cycling, and at least 6 ft apart when stopped. Terrain is mostly flat, with only 710 ft of climbing.     Enjoy the beautiful and peaceful Carpenter's Woods under a fresh coat of snow, on snow-shoes. Explore some new trails, which we can use in future hikes. There is a small stream which runs through part of Carpenter's Woods.     Pretty hike along both sides of the Wissahickon Creek using the orange and yellow trails and Forbidden Dr. while passing by the Monastery Stables. Meet at Walnut Lane Golf Course (800 Walnut Ln, Philadelphia, PA 19128) and then cross the golf course fairways to the yellow trail and then onto Forbidden Dr. to the other side of the Wissahickon. Well-behaved canine hikers on leashes are welcome to join us.     Come on our club's oldest running club ride. Designed for novice cyclists new to organized club rides, those new to Philadelphia, and those experienced riders just wanting a lay back group ride. We will enjoy a cup of coffee at the Noble Earth on Mill Street. A simple up and back on State Rd along the Delaware River.     Pretty hiking route, exploring some peaceful, but less familiar, trails in Carpenter's Woods, as well as entering the Wissahickon Valley via the quiet North Mt. Pleasant Place trailhead. We'll be on the White, Yellow, and Orange trails in the Wissahickon, with a little bit of Forbidden Drive. Landmarks along the way include Toleration Statue, Fingerspan Bridge, and Rock Climbers Rock. Short-cut option would be to take Forbidden Drive (vs. the Yellow Trail) on the second half of the hike. Total climbing 845 ft.     Today's ride will take us to Nudy's Cafe in Conshohocken. Because the trail will probably be iced over we will take MLK Drive to Manayunk Main St., over Umbria to Nixon St. at Shawmont, then River Road over to Hector St., and finally up the hill to our destination on Fayette St. A couple of hills on Umbria and one in Consh should have us ready to receive our chosen refreshment. Nudy's allows socially distanced indoor seating and for those who would prefer to stay outside there is a nice green bench out front facing Fayette Street. Version #1 Conshohocken State Rd, the shortest and easiest to navigate, #2 Mill Creek Rd, Hollow Rd, Hagesford Rd. #3 backwards version of #2 climbing out of the Schuylkill River Valley at Flat Rock Park on Mill Creek Rd, all the way gentley up to Ardmore's Farmers Market for coffee. #4 Youngs Ford Rd, Wayerly Rd. #5 Merion Squre Rd, maybe the steepest, #6 doing Wayerly Rd, Youngs Ford Rd version backwards.     Pretty hike along both sides of the Wissahickon Creek using the orange and yellow trails and Forbidden Dr. while passing by the Monastery Stables. Meet at Walnut Lane Golf Course (800 Walnut Ln, Philadelphia, PA 19128) and then cross the golf course fairways to the yellow trail and then onto Forbidden Dr. to the other side of the Wissahickon. Well-behaved canine hikers on leashes are welcome to join us. Be prepared for icy conditions if temps are below freezing.
