    Philadelphia Navy Yard Magical Fantasy and Ping Pong (ad-hoc ride)

    Level D: 10-11mph, 25 miles. Meet at Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, # 1 Boathouse Row, Kelly Dr, East Fairmount Park . The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    If you are not participating in the Italian Fountain Century, or want to bail out by 10, then join us to admire yet another public art installation at the Navy Yard. https://navyyard.org/magicalfantasy. Ilene is bringing pingpong paddles and balls to take advantage of the tables set up across from the Marriott, where there is a bistro. Possible route is down Christopher Columbus and Pattison to Broad Street, but not yet set in stone.     Friday Frolic w/Linda. Easy-Schmeasy Flat Ride - Pennypack and Newtown Rail Trails

    Level C through D: 11-12mph, 18 miles. Meet at Southampton trailhead of the Newtown Rail Trail (at old train station) on Second Street Pike, next to Strathmann ACE Hardware.     For April 1: Leader is on the road (or trail) to recovery following minor surgery, so today's ride will be an easy, low-intensity ride on the Pennypack & Newtown Rail Trails, out & back linear route. Leader will be riding a recumbent trike. Trail provides very pretty scenery of the peaceful Pennypack Creek. Towards the northern end of the trail, we will cross over the Mill Creek. On the return trip, we can stop at the All Aboard Cafe for snacks. There are porta-potties along the trail, and bathrooms in the parking lot at Moredun Rd. The trail surface is mostly hard-packed dirt, or fine cinder, with a short segment that is smoothly paved asphalt. We will be sharing the trail with walkers and runners, families, and dogs. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk.     Saturday Morning D Ride with a Substitute Ride Leader

    Level D: 9-12mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:30 am.

    OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer Slower) paced ride through Fairmount Park and beyond. This will be a D ride in speed, but will have hills and longer distances. Please wear helmet (required by the club) and have a mask available, if needed at the rest stop. Please bring extra tube and tools to fix a flat, water, dress properly for the weather, and $ for mid-ride stop. We will go throught Montgomery County into Delaware County to our rest stop at the Havertown Grill. The ride back to the start will be a more direct route with less hills.


    Heinz NWR/Pho Philly

    Hi Everyone! I'll be pinch hitting as Ride Leader for Tim Carey while he soaks up the sun in the Sunshine State, Ride leaves at 10 AM from COSMIC CAFE, LLOYD HALL, # 1 BOATHOUSE ROW, KELLY DR, EAST FAIRMOUNT PARK. Our destination in Narberth will be the excellent patisserie, Le Petit Mitron. The little park across the street is a great spot to enjoy your cappacino and/or croissant etc. The route won't be too different from what we're used to from Tim, but I've added a few wrinkles that I've learned from Tom Witt. This will add a couple of miles to the usual, but will be a true D ride and we'll gladly wait up for folks that might fall behind.

    Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Expect good company on safe/low trafficked roads with relatively easy terrain. Today we'll ride to Central Park (mile 23) for a park lunch stop (bring sandwiches/snacks). Porta-potty stop at mile 14. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to ride the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy - rain cancels, but may reschedule for Wed. Porta-potty at the start, but not water.     A moderately hilly ride conquering Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be ~ 30 miles by July.     Chatty Will Roadie rides to Chesterton and Rehobeth Beach 4/8 to 4/10 This ride starts with the 8:39 am train to Wilmington on Friday. Ride 70 miles or so to Chestertown Maryland for an overnight. Then 80ish miles to Rehobeth Beach. Sunday ride to Atlantic City 60 ish miles and ferry. Take train to Philly Sunday evening. Accommodations on your own, collaboration maybe. Riders need to carry their own gear and keep up a reasonable pace to get to destination before dinner. Mid morning, lunch and mid afternoon stops.     Join the Philly Wandrers for a mini-potluck happy hour social. The setting is Bel Arbor (https://www.ngtrust.org/bel-arbor), a community garden protected by Neighborhood Gardens Trust, tucked away between 10th and 11th on Kimball street, with plenty of room to park your bike! Bring a savory or a sweet nibble that you can share and what you want to drink. Napkins, cups, and utensils will be provided, but feel free to bring your own more eco-friendly options. If the weather is a bit chilly we can start a fire. If someone has bocce balls, bring them along as Bardiscino park aka the Bocce park, is right next door! Warning-- there are no bathrooms at Bel Arbor ( but if you are nice to her, Dani might let you walk to her house to use the facilities).

    Enjoy a ride out the SRT (Or Umbria) to the Feine cafe at 8th avenue and Fayette. Ride back over Manayunk bridge and through the West Laurel Hill cemetery. We are very predictable.

    Church of the Savior (COS) Multi-Level Group Rides

    Levels A through D: 10-20mph Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    The Church of the Savior (COS) Monday night ride is sponsored by both the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia and Suburban Cyclists Unlimited. It is the largest group ride in the region with up to 75 riders participating from April through October each year. Our riders have varying ability levels ranging from beginner (“D” level) riders on hybrid bikes that average 9-12 mph through semi-professional (“A” level) riding at 22-25 mph. As a result, we break into groups that are about 7-10 riders although these groups may be as large as 20 riders at times.

Today we'll ride to Evansburgh State Park for our rest stop (mile 19.6 - water and bathrooms) and then onto Center Square Park for our lunch stop (mile 32.5 - bring a sandwich or snacks - water and bathrooms). Expect good company, safe/low trafficked roads and a relatively tame route - mostly rolling hills but with a few short climbs here and there. We'll regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy - rain cancels, but may reschedule for Wed. NOTE: Upper Dublin H.S. starts will have porta-potties but not water.     The Church of the Savior (COS) Monday night ride is sponsored by both the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia and Suburban Cyclists Unlimited. It is the largest group ride in the region with up to 75 riders participating from April through October each year. Our riders have varying ability levels ranging from beginner (“D” level) riders on hybrid bikes that average 9-12 mph through semi-professional (“A” level) riding at 22-25 mph. As a result, we break into groups that are about 7-10 riders although these groups may be as large as 20 riders at times.

We’ll try a slightly different route Up Bryan Mawr Ave to Higland Ave. Slightly more up hill on BMA, but you’ll be rewarded with a nice downhill on Highland that will take us into Merion train station and then on to Narberth. Please note that at the train station we’ll be taking a pedestrian tunnel under the tracks. This will require carrying your bike down about 10 steps and up a similar number of steps. Planning on taking MLK out so that we ride pass Memorial Hall and take a gander up St. George's hill and then on to Bryn Mawr Avenue. As we hit the suburbs we will go past the Old Barnes Foundation building, the Merion Regional Rail station ( no stairs today!) and on into Narberth. The return will be via Conshocken State Road, the Cywnyd Heritage trail into West Laurel Hill and down to the Landing Kitchen and home via MLK drive. Goal is to be back into the city by 12:30.

    Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll be riding to Lahaska (Peddlers Village, mile 29). The route stops at Mama Hawk's Kitchen & Coffee, but you can choose another lunch venue). Rest stop on the way out at Hansell Park ((mile 13.5). Expect good company on safe, very scenic, low trafficked country roads. Overall a hillier route than elevation stats would suggest (49 ft./mile). We'll regroup as needed, but be prepared to maintain the posted pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels, but likely to reschedule for Wednesday). Will make a call at least an hour prior to start time. NOTE: Upper Dublin H.S. starts will have porta-potties but not water. NOTE: Ride starts at 9:30 in May & Sept., 9:00 June thru Aug. & 10:00 in Oct. November is ad hoc: different day, time and start locations each week.     Bringing back the Bulldog ride for 2022. this is the standard route, through mt airy, chestnut hill, etc up to militia hill. ~2,000 ft of climbing. this is a no drop ride, but we ask riders to be able to average 16+, with the average getting faster later in the year.     PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE SIGNING UP. Join us for a half-hour tour of the The Lest We Forget Museum of Slavery in Germantown, followed by a coffee/lunch stop. The fee for this tour is $10 per person. Museum/tour description: Museum curator /docent Gwen Ragsdale will provide a unique historical perspective into the reality of slavery for Africans brought to America. Exhibits show authentic slavery artifacts and documents showing how enslaved Africans were bought and sold as chattel. If you sign-in at start, please use hand sanitizer. Meet in parking lot of Flourtown Shop Ctr Bethlehem Pike (McDonald's in front, facing the Pike). Once a month, this ride may need to meet earlier in afternoon, due to BCP Board meeting in evening. In September, as evening daylight shortens, this ride will meet earlier (5:45, then, 5:30).

Meet in same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". Start by riding on Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill w/Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we return at dark. COVID PRECAUTIONS in EFFECT.     A moderately hilly ride conquering Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be ~ 30 miles by July.     Pretty loop from Upper Dublin High School to Doylestown, with two QUICK rest stops for snacks & bathroom. Along the way, we'll ride through Horsham and Warrington, Jamison, New Britain, and Springhouse. We'll cross the picturesque Neshaminy Creek on Dark Hollow Rd. Quick rest stops - Wawa at mile 17 in Jamison, and Weis Market in Doylestown at mile 28. Terrain is rolling - total climbing is 2236 ft - nothing too steep.
