Ride Yer Bike Tuesday ON MONDAY (ad-hoc ride)
Levels B+: 16-17mph, B-: 13-14mph, C+: 13-14mph, C: 12-13mph, 43 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will not be available. The on-line route map is Monto Meander .

Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll head west, meandering around Montgomery County. Rest stop at Heebner Park on the way out (mile 14), and lunch stop (be sure to bring snacks or a sandwich) at Fischer's Park on the return (mile 30). Bathrooms and water at both stops. Expect good company on scenic safe/low trafficked roads and as usual, mildly hilly (going up Bean today). We'll regroup as needed, but be prepared to maintain the posted pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. NOTE: Ride starts at 9:00 June thru Aug., 9:30 in Sept. and 10:00 in Oct. NOTE: 4th Tuesdays of the month will start from Central Park, Doylestown, 5th Tuesdays from Centre Square Park, Blue Bell, and on Memorial and Labor Day weeks we'll ride on Wednesday.
Merchantville Train Station

Leader: Tim Carey, , 267-414-9037We will use this ride to show you how to use the PATCO Highspeed Line to cross the Ben Franklin Bridge while the south walkway is closed for the next two years. Our destination will be the historic Merchantville Train Station now a Cafe. We will return, using the north walkway which I am of the opinion that it is easier to push your bike up the three flights of steps than minuverner your bike down the steps. If KYW is reporting rain outside their studio one hour prior to start, ride cancels.
Church of the Savoir (COS) Multi-Level Rides
Levels A through D: 8-20mph, 10-40 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

Rain cancels the ride but look at Meetup for last minute updates when weather is questionable.

Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Mont Co. Brief rest stop for quick snack/bathroom break half-way through. Planned mileage will depend on the length of evening daylight. Speed and distance will also depend on the riders in our group. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Toward the end of the season (mid-September), this ride will need to leave earlier (5:45 or 5:30pm), due to evening daylight ending earlier.

Tandem Tuesday CVT/Mainline Greenway

Leader: Manny Menendez, , 610-291-0625Start in Berwyn, ride to the CVT and follow east along the new extension into Norristown. Follow the SRT west to Valley Forge NP. Pass thru the park and then onto quiet roads back to the CVT to Exton. From Exton Park we will follow roads to Malvern and pick up the Mainline Greenway eastward back to Berwyn. Bring water and snacks. Possible lunch stop in Malvern. If the weather turns bad during the ride there are several options to shorten the ride. Single riders welcome and no drops.

Enjoy pretty and peaceful roads in eastern Montgomery County, pedaling away the stresses of the workday. We usually take a brief rest break mid-ride, depending on distance. Lunch stop at Kimbertown Whole Foods in Ottsville at the half-way point. Total climbing 2474 ft, averaging 54 ft/mile. Peaceful landscapes in both directions. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk. As long as we are enjoying outdoor exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

BCP Smart Cycling Course
Meet at Cosmic Cafe--upstair room, 1 Boat House Row. The event starts at 9:00 am. Additional information: Course Registration.
Organizer: George L. Yarnell, , 610-626-3338The emphasis of this course will discuss bike safety, basic A-B-C’s of biking. There will be instructions of rules of the road, rights and legal responsibilities, bike handling skills for navigating road hazards, and participating in a guided ride through the city. The Morning session will be classroom discussions. The afternoon will be a ride of about 15-18 miles through Fairmount Park and beyond to practice essential biking skills and navigating through traffic. The Smart Cycling Manual and Quick Guide will be distributed to the attendees. Coffee and tea will be available before the starting time and lunch will be available before we start the afternoon biking. Your bike should be in good working order to allow us to practice essential biking skills and ride in traffic on roads. The rain date for Saturday’s biking requirement will be on Sunday May 7, 2023 at 8:30AM Please bring extra-tube and tools to repair a flat, sunscreen, water, and proper dress for weather conditions. Bicycle Pilgrimage to The Miraculous Medal Shrine

Spend some quiet time at this peaceful refuge and learn the significance of this historic site from Fr. Hyacinth Cordell, O.P., who is also a drummer and percussionist. Ride through the Wissahickon via Forbidden Drive to lunch at Ekta Indian Cuisine in Manayunk. Return to St. Patrick’s around 2:30 pm NOTES: Helmets required. The route includes about 1.5 miles of gravel along Forbidden Drive in the Wissahickon. Generally this is fine for even road bikes but if riding 23's or 25's, just stay relaxed and pay a little extra attention to line choices.

Pretty loop from the Philadelphia Canoe Club, site of our Spring Kick-Off Picnic scheduled for later today. On the outbound, we will meander through East Falls, Mt. Airy & Chestnut Hill, Ft. Washington, Ambler, and Springhouse. We'll have a quick rest stop at the mega-Wawa in Gwynedd. We will return via Blue Bell, Plymouth Meeting, and the Schuylkill River Trail to Manayunk. Toward the end of the ride, we will avoid the traffic on Main St in Manayunk by taking the Manayunk Bridge Trail across the river to the Cynwyd Heritage Trail, then re-cross the river on the Penncoyd Bridge, before returning to the Canoe Club. Plan is to finish by ~12:00 - 12:15, in order to help with setting up for the Spring Kick-Off Picnic. Start/Finish: the Philadelphia Canoe Club is accessible via a long gravel driveway, next to the SEPTA Wissahickon Transportation Center on Ridge Ave. This is where the Wissahickon Creek flows into the Schuylkill River. Level C+: 13.5mph, 40ish miles. Meet at SEPTA Spring Mill Station Parking Lot Off of E. Hector St. in Conshohocken. The ride leaves at 10:30 am. Cue sheets will not be available.
Leader: Dina Adams, , 215-287-4935An SRT Jaunt: We will start from the Spring Mill train station parking lot in Conshohocken, take the SRT to the Oaks Trailhead, turn around and roll on to the picnic. We will return to Spring Mill train station following the picnic. The roundtrip to Oaks from Spring Mill is approximately 25 miles; the roundtrip to the picnic from Spring Mill is approximately 12 miles. All riding is on the SRT until we hit Manayunk, then only a short distance on Main Street to the Philadelphia Canoe Club. Parking is free at Spring Mill train station.

On this ride, we will go to the Spring Kick-off Picnic of the Philadelphia Bike Club. Please wear a helmet. There might be a hill or two to help prepare your appetite for the great food waiting for us. We will stay at the picnic for about 30-45 minutes before returning back to the Azalea Garden.

Starting in Quarryville, PA we will ride west on the trail to the Washington Boro park and then ride back. This is a fine gravel trail through scenic Lancaster County farmland including views of the Susquehanna River. There are no food stops along the trail so bring snacks and water sufficient for the ride. 43.8 miles 1200 ft of climb (round trip). Option for a late lunch in Quarryville after the ride.

We'll first ride to Brig O'Doons in Ottsville @ mile 21, and then onto Tabora's in Chalfont @ mile 34. Both stops have food, bathrooms and outdoor seating. Expect good company on some very scenic, safe and low trafficked roads. A few climbs here and there, but most of the elevation gain is over long, gradual climbs (51 ft./mi.). We'll regroup as needed, but be prepared to maintain the posted pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Please preregister so we can know how many to expect. Leader: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862Century trek on mostly flat-to-gently-rolling roads from Chestertown, MD, north to Chesapeake City (along the C & D Canal), across the Mason Dixon line to quaint Middletown and Odessa, DE, then returning to Maryland's Eastern Shore. Cycle mostly on lightly traveled roads with wide shoulders. Total elevation gain is 2164 feet. We'll pass through charming small towns, and cross the scenic Sassafras and Bohemia Rivers. Rest stops available at mile 19 (Galena), 39 (Chesapeake City), 51 (Wawa in Middletown, DE), 61 (Wawa north of Odessa). On the return, we can stop in Galena again at mile 88. Stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain 14mph, as advertised. SHORT-CUT OPTION: On the return, staying straight on 213 South directly to Chestertown will shave off several miles. Please note: in lieu of hill-climbing, we'll have HEADWINDS for part of the route. If carrying your bikes down is too much you can take PATCO to the Walter Rand Transportation center and then meet us on the north side of the bridge. We will ride up to Bordentown and then people can do one of two things-- ride on to Trenton and take Septa back or take the River Line back to Camden. Reintroduction of Memorial Day Weekend Ride to Reading on SRT
Level D: 9-12mph, 60-80 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 9:45 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

However, if you want to take the Norristown SEPTA Regional Rail at 8:04 from the 30th Street Station, you would arrive at the Elm Street Station at 8:58 AM. Ride from the Septa Station to the SRT and meet at Betzwood for the start of the ride.(Let me know if you will be arriving my modti-model method by ). We wil stop in Phoenixville for a quick coffee stop. Light lunch at a diner in the Pottstown area. Then we ride on to Reading, where we will stop for meal. If it is real hot, we will shorten the ride. The course is mostly flat, but there are several longer climbs. There is a long section that is well maintained gravel that a road bike could handle. Please wear helmet (required by the club). Please bring water, extra tube and tools to fix a flat, sunscreen, proper clothes for the weather, $ for meal stops.

Level C- through D: 10-12.5mph, 15-29 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Mont Co. Brief rest stop for quick snack/bathroom break half-way through. Planned mileage will depend on the length of evening daylight. Speed and distance will also depend on the riders in our group. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Toward the end of the season (mid-September), this ride will need to leave earlier (5:45 or 5:30pm), due to evening daylight ending earlier.

Delightful, Delicious D/D+/C- Summer Evening Rides
Level C- through D: 9.5-11.5mph, 12-30 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.
Leader: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862Relaxed-pace evening rides on Tuesdays throughout summer. Distance and pace will depend on the riders in our group. (Sunset time will also determine distance.) This ride is suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Enjoy pretty and peaceful roads in eastern Montgomery County, pedaling away the stresses of the workday. We usually take a brief rest break mid-ride, depending on distance. Please bring water/Gatorade and a snack with you. Please also bring LIGHTS, in case we have a delay and are returning close to dark. Toward the end of summer (September), starting time will need to be pushed earlier to 5:45, then 5:30, due to earlier sunset.

We'll have an early rest stop on the way out at Fischer's Park (mile 11), and then a lunch stop at Heckler Park (mile 27 - water and porta-potty - be sure to bring a sandwich and/or snacks). Despite the overall elevation gain not being a lot for PA standards (44 ft./mi.), there are a few short but steep climbs plus some longer gradual ones. And then wind our way to Ardmore.Coming back we'll take the slightly longer route through Cobbs Creek. Should be back by 1 PM. Hope you can make it!

Meet in parking lot of Flourtown Shop Ctr Bethlehem Pike (McDonald's in front, facing the Pike). Once a month, this ride may need to meet earlier in afternoon, due to BCP Board meeting in evening. In September, as evening daylight shortens, this ride will meet earlier (5:45, then, 5:30).
