    Friday Frolic w/Linda. Holicong Park in Buckingham to Frenchtown, NJ - 5-Star Route by Charlie B.

    Level B-/C+: 13-14mph, 45 miles. Meet at Holicong Park, Buckingham. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33882020.

    Very pretty and scenic route by Charlie B, based in Bucks County, PA, and Hunterdon County, NJ. This is a peaceful route leaving from Buckingham. Optional quick stop for bathroom & snack at Mile 9 in Stockton. Lunch stop in charming Frenchtown at Mile 27. After the lunch stop, we have a 9-mile flat stretch on River Rd/NJ-29. Return to PA via the bridge at Bulls Island. If riders need another brief stop for water/bathroom/snack, the Lumberville Store is at Mile 37. Total climbing 2304 ft, averaging 52 ft/mile. No killer climbs. Most of the climbing is before the lunch stop, then we are up on a fairly level plateau. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc.

    Toss of the Dice Bastille day ride (8:00 Start)

    This week we will be heading out to Saint Peters. This is a longer ride and will have the option to stop at three french bakery's. stopping at Various friendly rides per DAILY RIDE CALENDAR ranging from 35-80 miles. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube, tire irons and multi-tool. Check daily listing for route information. During the summer season there is an optional after-ride drink at the Waterworks beer garden. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time. Pre-registration preferred.


    Early AM Big Event Ride - Valley Forge to East Whiteland via CVT, then Back to Valley Forge for the "Support Our National Parks" Picnic

    Very special event on Saturday, August 2: The Sierra Club of PA is hosting a "Support Our National Parks" celebration in Valley Forge National Park. Festivities include a Picnic. Details are here: https://www.sierraclub.org/valleyforge This early morning ride will meet at the Wayne's Woods Picnic Area in Valley Forge National Park (8000 South Outer Line Drive), then head west to East Whiteland, mostly on the Chester Valley Trail. Other riders who plan to attend the Big Event for our Parks can meet us at the East Whiteland Township Building in Frazer. From there, we will return to Wayne's Woods in Valley Forge, mostly on the CVT. We should return to Wayne's Woods by ~10:00am, in time for the Big Picnic Event, hosted by the Sierra Club, to celebrate our National Parks.     Valley Forge Picnic Ride - Philadelphia Art Museum Ride

    Casual paced ride going to Valley Forge for Support our National Parks Day. There will be a free picnic lunch. Please bring water, sunscreen, extra-tube and tools to fix a flat, and $ in case we want to stop before we get there or after on the way home. It will be a hilly route.     Annual Sandy Hook Seashore Trek CO-LEADER(S) WELCOME

    Picturesque adventure ride from Central NJ to Sandy Hook, a 1665-acre barrier peninsula which protrudes into the bay between NJ & NY. Sandy Hook offers a view of the Manhattan skyline, as well as 7 miles of beaches, a lighthouse, and a holly forest. Shortly before reaching the seashore, we'll stop at the Mt. Mitchell Scenic Overlook County Park, which includes a memorial to the heroes of 9-11. This county park provides a spectacular overlook of Sandy Hook Bay and the NYC skyline. The route to & from Sandy Hook will take us along the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers, as well as the Swimming River Reservoir. Beginning and ending portions of the route are flat-ish/gently rolling, with a few brisk climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total elevation gain is 2189 feet. Middle portion of the route (near and on the beach) is flat. Food stops at mile 25 and 45, + an optional Rita's Water Ice stop at mile 62, near the finish. DRIVING DIRECTIONS to the starting point (Visitor Center of Monmouth Battlefield State Park): 1) NJ Turnpike North to Exit 8/Hightstown & Freehold. 2) From Exit 8 ramp, turn right onto NJ-33 East/Franklin St. Stay on 33 East. 3) After crossing CR 527/Millhurst Rd, NJ-33 will split into Business and Expressway. Take the right-lane exit for 33 Business, then bear right at bottom of ramp for 33 Bus East. Look for sign for Monmouth Battlefield Visitor Center. Turn left into Visitor Center entrance. Parking lot is at the end of a long driveway. Please allow at least 75 mins driving time from Phila. The map link provided below (you can zoom in) will show the start/finish point, the whole route, and the elevation profile. WEATHER UPDATES will be based on the forecast for Manalapan, NJ, not Phila.


    Sunny Sunday D Ride

    Level D: 9-12mph, 12-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum.. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Casual paced ride through Fairmount Park and beyond for those new to group riding, returning to biking after a layoff, or just want a relaxing ride without racing through the streets and trails of Philadelphia. Please wear Helmet(required by the club.) Please bring water, sunscreen, proper dress for the weather, extra tubes and tools to fix a flat(we will help you,) $ for mid ride snack stop. There might be a hill or two, but they help with physical conditioning.) We stop at the tops to catch our breath.


    Sunny Sunday C Spin-Off

    Pretty loop from Mondauk Common Park in Ambler to Merrymead Farm in Worcester for ice cream (or other homemade treats). Outbound via Centre Square, return via Blue Bell. Restroom stop if needed at Mile 11 in Centre Square Park. Food stop at Merrymead at Mile 17. Roling terrain, but no extreme climbs. Most of the elevation is before the stop at Merrymead. Total elevation gain is 1765 ft, averaging 54 ft/mile. START/FINISH at Mondauk Common Park: gravel parking lot on Dillon Rd, just north of Susquehanna Rd, near the restrooms.


    Havertown

    Level C- through D: 9.5-11mph, 25 miles. Meet at Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, # 1 Boathouse Row, Kelly Dr, East Fairmount Park . The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Let’s ride to Conshohocken Monday - this time to Perk’s Coffee on Fayette Street. either Umbria or the Tow Path on the way out, and over the Cynwyd Trail and through the cemetery on the way back.


    VALLEY FORGE TO CONSHY FOR COFFEE (ad-hoc ride)

    Level D: 10.5mph, 21/25 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park visitor center lower parking lot. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    We ride the SRT and Cross County Trail to Conshy or Plymouth Meeting (or other locations) for coffee with fellow cyclists. Ride is open to meet riders from Philly or elsewhere. If you are planning a ride and want to meet up for coffee along the way, text leader morning of ride. Note: If you are new to group riding, this is a great ride for you. A mentor will ride with you to acquaint you with riding in a group. Cue sheets will not be available.


    COS Multi-Level Group Ride

    Level B: 15mph, varies miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    This weekly ride is scheduled on Mondays starting on April 7, 2025 and is scheduled to end on September 22, 2025. The ride will depart from Church of the Savior, Wayne, PA at 6:00 pm promptly. Ride Level: D thru A We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group ( rides at 8-10 mph pace for 15 miles ) up to our "A" group ( 18-20 mph up to 30-40 miles). All rides start 6pm sharp and finish at sunset ( the Hybrid group finishes at 7:30). This ride is cross listed with SCU. No need to pre-register but please sign up when you arrive at COS. No cue sheets will be available but ride leaders generally post their routes on the SCU Meetup or the BCP website. We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.).     Delightful, Delicious D (& D+/C-) Ride, Monday Evening Edition

    Level C- through D: 10-12.5mph, 15-29 miles. Meet at Mondauk Park. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Scheduled for most Monday evenings throughout summer, weather permitting. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice or returning riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Mont Co. Brief rest stop for quick snack/bathroom break half-way through. Planned mileage will depend on the length of evening daylight. Speed and distance will also depend on the riders in our group. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Toward the end of the season (mid-September), this ride will need to leave earlier (5:45 or 5:30pm), due to evening daylight ending earlier. START/FINISH at Mondauk Park: 1451 Dillon Rd, Ambler, PA 19002. This is just north of Susquehanna Rd. Look for the gravel parking lot near the restrooms and pavilion.

    Ride Yer Bike Tuesday

    Levels B+: 16-17mph, B/B-: 14-15mph, C+: 13-14mph, 48 miles. Meet at Wentz Run Park, Wentz Rd & Anvil Lane . The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available. The on-line route maps are: 47.5M Hilly WRP to Java's Brewin via Arcola and Royersford and PAPERLESS SIGN-IN FORM.

    Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Expect good company on safe/low trafficked roads. Lunch stops may be sit down, takeout, or in a park. Bathrooms available at all start locations. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels, but likely to reschedule for Wed.). Will make a call at least an hour prior to start time. NOTE: Ride starts at 9:30 in May & Sept., 9:00 June-Aug.(earlier if high temps) , and 10:00 in Oct. NOTE: Start location varies throughout the suburban region.     Tuesday Ride to Lower Merion

    The ride will depart from Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, # 1 Boathouse Row, Kelly Dr, East Fairmount Park at 10:00 am. Ride Level: C- through D: 10.5mph, Distance: 20-30 miles. This is a generic description of the ride which will go to one of three destinations every Tuesday:GET Cafe in Narberth; Farmers’ Market in Ardmore or Whole Foods in Wynnewood. Some climbing of 800 to 1000 feet. First part of ride will generally mean a climb into Fairmount Park, across the Strawberry Mansion Bridge up to Chamounix. And then proceed up Bryn Mawr Avenue. and on to our final destination of Narberth, Ardmore or Wynnewood. On an ad hoc basis we may include new destinations and advance notice will be provided along with details. Always a fun group of friendly people so come on out! Cue sheets will not be available.


    Delightful, Delicious D/D+/C- Summer Evening Rides

    Levels B-: 14mph, C+: 13mph, C- through D: 9.5-11.5mph, 12-30 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    Relaxed-pace evening rides on Tuesdays throughout summer. Distance and pace will depend on the riders in our group. (Sunset time will also determine distance.) This ride is suited for novice or returning riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Enjoy pretty and peaceful roads in eastern Montgomery County, pedaling away the stresses of the workday. We usually take a brief rest break mid-ride, depending on distance. Please bring water/Gatorade and a snack with you. Please also bring LIGHTS, in case we have a delay and are returning close to dark. Toward the end of summer (September), starting time will need to be pushed earlier to 5:45, then 5:30, due to earlier sunset.


    Tue Bulldog 6pm (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B: 15mph, 30ish miles. Meet at Bulldog Statue, 25th St. and Pennsylvania Ave.. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Tuesday Evening 'Bulldog'. leaves from the Bulldog Statue at Fairmount Ave and N. 25th St. Pace is B/15mph give or take. Riders maintianing pace will not be dropped; ride waits at the top of climbs. Follows start of traditional Ambler Loop, distance is adjusted to stay in daylight during the season. Longest version is the Militia Hill Loop, Shortest is the Andorra Rd Hill loop.

    Delicious pastries await us at Bread Crumbs Bakery when we make our mid-ride coffee stop. We will ride up the Delaware River Trails to State Road in Holmsburg. After a quick trip across the tip of Pennypack Park, we come to the Torresdale bike lane and Bread Crumbs Bakery. We will return on Torresdale, the Adams Ave. Cut-off, back to the Greenway Trail, and The Delaware River Trail to home.


    Delightful, Delicious Wednesday Evening Rides, D/C+/C-

Most summer Wednesday evenings, weather permitting. Peaceful roads Eastern Mont Co, w/brief rest stop. Please bring lights. Preregistration saves you writing time at the start. Meet in parking lot of Flourtown Shop Ctr Bethlehem Pike (McDonald's in front, facing the Pike). In September, as evening daylight shortens, this ride will meet earlier (5:45, then, 5:30). Helmets are required on all club rides. Please also bring two bottles for water/Gatorade, as well as front & rear bike lights. RESTROOMS are available inside GIANT MARKET. Occasionally throughout the summer, we will finish with post-ride refreshments. PUBLIC TRANSIT access to Flourtown: the 94 Bus runs along Bethlehem Pike. Nearby train stations include Fort Washington, Glenside, Wyndmoor, and Chestnut Hill East & West.

    Chill Hills

    A moderately hilly ride conquering Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring LIGHTS in case we return close to dark. Return to PA via the bridge at Bulls Island. If riders need another brief stop for water/bathroom/snack, the Lumberville Store is at Mile 37. Total climbing 2304 ft, averaging 52 ft/mile.     This will br a Sunny Saturday Lunch Ride to Stinger’s Waterfront in Essington. We had to cancel this ride several weeks ago because it is not a fun ride in the rain. But here we go again, and it looks like we will have sunny or at least partly sunny skies all day. We will ride down the SRT to the Crescent and cross over to Lindbergh Blvd for a ride down to the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge (pit stop at the wildlife center). There will be about four miles of gravel trail through the wildlife refuge. before we emerge on the other side (Delaware County). Stingers is located at a marina on Darby Creek that leads to the Delaware River. After lunch at the restaurant, we will head over toward the River and ride home along Hog Island and Ft. Mifflin Roads and back to Lindbergh Blvd. for our return to Center City. As usual, wear your helmet and bring water, a spare tube and whatever tools you need in case of a flat tire plus money for a good lunch at Stingers.

    After Labor Day the Baxter Trail (the one that goes through a couple of shooting ranges) will be closed till next summer. Saturday will be one of our last chances to ride on this pretty section of trail that only opens to the public on summer weekends. But that’s only one good reason to ride to Maggie’s Waterfront Restaurant for lunch on Saturday morning. I hear the cod sandwiches are spectacular at Maggies, and the menu is so extensive you might want to bring a doggie bag home for dinner. The ride will proceed along the Deleware River trails to Maggie’s, and our return will take us on the Torresdale bike lane and through the city

And then proceed up Bryn Mawr Avenue. and on to our final destination of Narberth, Ardmore or Wynnewood.     This will be the first revision for this new route on our newest ride, cowboys. We will utilize the SRT down to Crescent Park, and then ride over to Bartram’s Garden. We will check out the Urban Cowboys stable (really fast in case the manure pile is steaming), and we will see the Wat Khmer Palelai Temple. Then we’ll mosey down Lindberg and over to Cobbs Creek for a trail ride to West Philly’s newest cafe - Out West. They have a back patio if it’s cool enough to sit outside. Otherwise, the air conditioning will feel good before we saddle up and ride back home on Chestnut Street to the old trail home.. If it’s raining an hour before the ride start, we will cancel and do it another day, cuz this cowboy doesn’t like to ride in the rain.

Helmets are required on all club rides. Please also bring two bottles for water/Gatorade, as well as front & rear bike lights. RESTROOMS are available inside GIANT MARKET. Start by riding on Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill w/Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring LIGHTS in case we return close to dark. Our mileage will be determined by how much evening light we have. Occasionally, this ride may meet earlier in afternoon, due to other event in evening. In mid-September, ride will depart at 5:45 or 5:30, due to earlier sunset.

Enjoy pretty and peaceful roads in eastern Montgomery County, pedaling away the stresses of the workday. We usually take a brief rest break mid-ride, depending on distance. Please bring water/Gatorade and a snack with you. Please also bring LIGHTS, in case we have a delay and are returning close to dark. Toward the end of summer (September), starting time will need to be pushed earlier to 5:45, then 5:30, due to earlier sunset.

    Flat ride in South Jersey. Rescheduled from Saturday the 23rd, due to a memorial service on Saturday. Annual ride from Hammonton to Great Bay, north of Brigantine. Several miles of straight-aways with minimal turns. Cross a couple of scenic and tranquil rivers. Close to Great Bay, we'll cycle on amazing Seven Bridges Road. We may encounter some large sea turtles on some of the bridges. At the end of Seven Bridges Rd, Rutgers University has a Marine Field Station. (This used to be a Coast Guard station.) Water/restroom break if needed at Mle 9 at Batsto Village Visitors Center. Snack stop at Mile 23, Wawa at Mile 27. Great Bay (& the beach) are at Mile 35. On the return, food stop at Acme in Tuckerton at Mile 42. Terrain is mostly flat, with total elevation gain of 771 ft. Please bring your HELMET, two full bottles, snacks, and sunblock. START/FINISH: Hammonton Lake Park is only ~45 minutes from Philadelphia. Restrooms are available at the park. If you need a pre-ride coffee, there is a Wawa nearby on NJ-54 in downtown Hammonton.     Rescheduled from last WEdnesday, THIS will be the first revision for this new route on our newest ride, cowboys. We will utilize the SRT down to Crescent Park, and then ride over to Bartram’s Garden. We will check out the Urban Cowboys stable (really fast in case the manure pile is steaming), and we will see the Wat Khmer Palelai Temple. Then we’ll mosey down Lindberg and over to Cobbs Creek for a trail ride to West Philly’s newest cafe - Out West. They have a back patio if it’s cool enough to sit outside. Otherwise, the air conditioning will feel good before we saddle up and ride back home on Chestnut Street to the old trail home.. If it’s raining an hour before the ride start, we will cancel and do it another day, cuz this cowboy doesn’t like to ride in the rain.

    Most summer Wednesday evenings, weather permitting. Gently paced, post-work ride to pedal away stresses, suited for novice or returning riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Peaceful roads Eastern Mont Co, w/brief rest stop. Please bring lights. Preregistration saves you writing time at the start. Meet in parking lot of Flourtown Shop Ctr Bethlehem Pike (McDonald's in front, facing the Pike). In September, as evening daylight shortens, this ride will meet earlier (5:45, then, 5:30). Helmets are required on all club rides. Please also bring two bottles for water/Gatorade, as well as front & rear bike lights. RESTROOMS are available inside GIANT MARKET. Occasionally throughout the summer, we will finish with post-ride refreshments. PUBLIC TRANSIT access to Flourtown: the 94 Bus runs along Bethlehem Pike. Nearby train stations include Fort Washington, Glenside, Wyndmoor, and Chestnut Hill East & West.

    Scheduled for most Thursday evenings throughout summer, weather permitting. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away work stresses, suited for novice or returning riders, newcomers to area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Start by riding on Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill w/Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring LIGHTS in case we return close to dark. Our mileage will be determined by how much evening light we have. Occasionally, this ride may meet earlier in afternoon, due to other event in evening. In mid-September, ride will depart at 5:45 or 5:30, due to earlier sunset.


    Chill Hills

    A moderately hilly ride conquering Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped.     Very pretty and scenic route by Charlie B, based in Bucks County, PA, and Hunterdon County, NJ. This is a peaceful route leaving from Buckingham. Optional quick stop for bathroom & snack at Mile 9 in Stockton. Lunch stop in charming Frenchtown at Mile 27. After the lunch stop, we have a 9-mile flat stretch on River Rd/NJ-29. Return to PA via the bridge at Bulls Island. If riders need another brief stop for water/bathroom/snack, the Lumberville Store is at Mile 37. Total climbing 2304 ft, averaging 52 ft/mile. No killer climbs. Most of the climbing is before the lunch stop, then we are up on a fairly level plateau. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route.

    Hilly but pretty loop through Warren and Hunterdon Counties, NJ, to the scenic Merrill Creek Reservoir. New & improved route by Charlie B. Ice cream at mile 58. This route includes a couple of 400-ft climbs, and one 640-ft climb, but the vistas from the summits are magnificent. We'll be riding mostly on quiet and shaded country roads, but also passing through the quaint towns of Milford, Riegelsville, Stewartsville, and Bloomsbury. Initial and final stretches of the route, along River Road, are flat. The challenging hills section, ~10 miles of climbing, is in the middle. Total elevation gain on the 63-mi route is 4090 ft, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Food stops at mile 24 in Stewartvsille (before climbing to the Reservoir), and at mile 46 in Bloomsbury. (We'll also have a brief photo/scenery stop at the spectacular Reservoir at mile 31.) From the food stop in Bloomsbury, we'll descend to the village of Little York, then return to Milford and Frenchtown via downhill-to-flat roads. Depending on where you live, please allow an hour for the drive to Frenchtown. 53-Mi short-Cut Option: Charlie B. has developed a 53-mi alternate route which avoids the steep climb to Merrill Creek Reservoir, but still stops at the Tauro market rest stop.     Pre-holiday spin across the river and up to pretty Moorestown, NJ to visit the Pie Lady where we can buy scrumptious slices of pie or cobbler. We will sit outside to enjoy our treats and coffee. Our route will take us up and over the Ben Franklin Bridge both ways, but those wishing to ride back home across the Delaware River via the River Link Ferry or Patco. can split off and relax on the homestretch. Wear your helmet and bring water and a spare tube in case of a flat. If it is raining one hour before the ride start,, we will cancel.
