Sat October 4, 2008 - Whitehouse/Sugartown Breakfast Ride
Level C+/C, 30 miles. Church of the Saviour on Wayne Ave. in Wayne.. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Meet in the parking lot in front of the gym. We ride 20/25 miles in Radnor hunt country, followed by a community buffet breakfast hosted by the Paoli-Malvern-Berwyn Rotary Club. A 5/10 mile return ride to COS after breakfast. A multi-club ride. Bring $8 for the breakfast. RSVP to the leaders before Saturday if you will attend the breakfast. The chef needs a head count. Contact Steve if you need directions to the start.

Level B-, 13-15 mph, 35 miles. Fort Washington State Park Picnic Area (see weekly rides description for directions. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. This ride takes us through Chestnut Hill and west Mt. Airy to Keely Drive where we'll stop, get some food, and watch the Dragon Boat races on the Schuylkill River for about an hour. The ride returns to Flourtown via Wyndmoor. Rain cancels

Sun October 5, 2008 - Impromptu Ride to Annville
Level B?, 100 miles. Pequea Valley HS. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Lv 8:00 AM from Pequea Valley HS for a 100 mile hilly ride to Annville PA. We will pass through northern Lancaster County and Mt. Gretna en route to Annville and Lebanon Valley College. Expect 6,000+ feet of climbing. Lunch in Annville with stops in Akron and Manheim as needed. Pequea HS is near Gap PA on Rt. 772, 3 miles north of Rt. 30. Do not attempt this ride if you have not ridden at least one century this year. GPS files on request, no cue sheet. Sun October 5, 2008 - Do the Bristol Stomp!
Level B+/B/C/C-, 12-18 mph, 55 & 83 miles. locations given in description.. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. This multi-location/multi-level ride has everything. City, Suburban and country terrain. Small creeks, big ponds, wide rivers and good ice cream. The 83 mile route starts at 8:00 from the Flourtown picnic area (33 w Mill Rd in Flourtown) and will stop for lunch at mile 45. The 55 mile route starts at 9:00 from the Bryn Athyn College parking lot, Tomlinson and Buck Rds. in Huntingdon Valley, and will stop for lunch at mile 33. Rain cancels.

Level C+/B-, 14 mph, 40-45 miles. Italian Fountain. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. I am riding to Ambler again this coming Saturday morning. As always, we will try to keep up a steady level of effort throughout. We will push ourselves, but we will also have fun too. Bring money for a food stop in Ambler.

A very scenic ride on some great Bucks County roads. Mostly rolling hills. We'll stop at Carversville General Store (about 5 miles from Lahaska) for lunch, with a quick break on the way up and again on the return. Co-listed with SCU

Sun October 12, 2008 - Kutztown Creeky Hill Ride
Level B, 15 mph, 46 miles. Kutztown Elementary School, 40 Normal Ave. Kutztown, PA. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Features Hills, creeks, hills, woods, hills, and a lake. Seek the missing Windsor Castle. Look for the virgins of Virginville, hometown of Frog Holler's darren Schlappich. Encounter some of the most beautiful and strangest creekside views youv'e ever seen. It's more like 3527'. While there are no planned meal stops, there are convenience stores at miles 16 and 30 for water refills and snacks.

Sun October 12, 2008 - Instructional Riding Class for New Riders
Level D, 8-10 mph, 10-12 miles. the formal entrance to the Azalea Garden located at the Italian Fountain Circle behind the Art Museum (on Waterworks Drive past Lloyd Hall). The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. Class begins with a basic safety and bike check. Instruction on the fundamentals of group riding and gear shifting will be given along the route. We will ride on MLK Drive and East Fairmount Park to practice our riding skills and gear shifting on a gentle hill. There is plenty of time for questions and answers and no one is left behind. Level B, 14-16 mph, 35-38 miles. Italian Fountain. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. This ride begins at the Italian Fountain at 8:30 a.m. SHARP, leaving you with plenty of time to catch the B Ramble or do the Center City Residents' Association Annual House Tour, both of which begin at noon. We will ride out through East Falls, Mt. Airy , and Chestnut Hill, and return via Manayunk. 25 minute rest stop in Flourtown (at Wawa or Starbucks). No cue sheets but we will use familiar BCP routes.. Note: This is a test/demo of the new submission system. The ride will appear immediately on the new website calendar and will also be posted (again) to the list.

Level D+, 10-12 mph, 15-20 miles. the entrance to the Azalea Garden behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Hold on to your socks! We are going to bike in Center City traffic in all different configurations of lanes, turns and intersections. No way to make this funny. E-mail us your favorite stops and we'll incorporate them. We will have handouts. We may resort to using a stick in the gravel. We will have personal anecdotes. We may have prizes. We may have a quiz. Smile! We will explore human and bicycle safety in traffic and we will become more comfortable. Call if you have questions and if you plan to attend

Level B-, 13-14 mph, 50 miles. Fort Washington State Park Flourtown Picnic Area (see Weekly Ride description for directions). The ride leaves at 9:20 am. Reprise of one of my favorite rides, last done in early August. I've added a new wrinkle. Rolling hills with a few, short, steeper climbs. At least half the ride is on bucolic, low traffic roads. Take out lunch eaten on the deck at the Train Stop Cafe. Meet 8:45 for a PROMPT start. This ride is conjunction with SCU.

Sat October 25, 2008 - Hopewell Furnace Classic
Level B, 13-15 mph, 62 miles. French Creek State Park (the boat launch parking lot). The ride leaves at 10:00 am. A revised version of this classic ride through Oley Valley, starting from French Creek State Park. This ride features two covered bridges, a rest break at a chocolatier, a sit down lunch stop in the town of oley and much more. the terrain will be hilly at first and last 15 miles. The middle 30 miles are flat to rolling. If your timing is right, we should be riding through the peak leaf changing weekend.

Sun October 26, 2008 - Chesterbrook to Skippack
Level C, 40 miles. Manhatten Bagel in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center, easily accesible from US 202 and PA 252. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. We spin over the VFNHP to travel through parts of SE Montgomery County - W+E Norritons, Worcester, around Evansburg State Park to Skippack. After brunch our route traverses the new 'Skippack trail' to the Perkiomen Trail. We proceed to Lower Perk Park, connect to the SRT and finally back to our start. Expect some uphills as well as a few long downhills. There are about 6 miles of compacted gravel trail but this has not been a problem for my road bike. No one left behind as we stop to regroup. Cue sheets provided. A multi-club ride. Bring snacks, beverage, money, and a lock.

Level C+, 12-14 mph, 45 miles. the Spring Mill Station on the Valley Forge Trail. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Stop to pick up others in Conshohocken at corner parking lot near old RR station., continuing at 10:00. Rough Road through Collegeville section. Stop to see the mums and the greenhouse at Ott's. on return, stop for lunch at Collegeville Diner.
