    Level C, 12.5 to 13 mph, 32+ miles. Meet at Whites Road Park between Broad St and Valley Forge Rd, Lansdale. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. We'll ride Northern Montgomery County and Northern Bucks County with generally a new ride every week. Some have food stops but always bring snack and plenty of water just in case we're extremely remote. I will post to the listserve if cancellation is required by 8:00 A.M.     Wed October 3, 2012 - Conshohocken to Philly Art Museum "Night Lights" Ride

    Level C thru A, 12-18 mph, 27 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:15 pm. This is a "road bike" ride that requires a strong front headlight and a rear tail light. We have 3 different groups (C, B and B+) which ride between 12 and 18 mph. We typically get @ 25 riders on warm nights. We meet 6pm at Jacobs Engineering parking lot, 2 Ash St., Conshohocken, PA. We leave the lot 6:15 sharp and head to the Philly Art Museum area via Roxboro, Manyunk and East Falls. We take a short 5 minute bathroom/snack break at Lloyd Hall before returning to Conshohocken by 8:30. Rain or starting temp. below 40F cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available.

    Level B-, 13-15 mph, 20-30 miles. . The ride leaves at 8:00 pm. Strap on the lights, wear your reflective clothing, be bright and garish, and come ride in the dark. We ride on roads with very little traffic.This ride leaves from the Reynolds Dog Park on Longford Road in Mont Clare, just across the river from Phoenixville.     Level C+, 13-14 mph, 35 +/- miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 5:20 pm. Meet at 5:10 for a prompt start. Join me as we ride to Center City for the Moveable Feast Ride, a fundraiser for the PA Center for Adapted Sports (they work with cyclists with disabilities). Advance registration/$30 donation required (go to http://moveablefeastride.eventbrite.com/). We'll ride the 10 mile loop and then head over to Chinatown for the feast. Promises to be a fun evening.     Fri October 5, 2012 - Friday Frolic with Linda -- Flourtown to Broomall

    Level B-/C+, 13-15 mph, 50 miles. Meet at Ft. Washington State Park, Flourtown Picnic Area. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. So, just how many Panera Bread cafes ARE there? Enough for cyclists to explore all over the Phila. region. Today's ride from Flourtown to the Panera in Broomall will take us through Chestnut Hill & East Falls, Bala Cynwyd, Haverford and Havertown. After lunch, we'll return via Villanova and Conshohocken. Rolling terrain with some steep climbs (including Neill Drive after crossing Falls Bridge), but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total elevation gain 3894 ft. Quick water stop at mile 19 and sit-down lunch stop at mile 30. On our return, we'll have an optional Wawa stop in Conshohocken at mile 42. Cue sheets will be available.     Sat October 6, 2012 - Long Way Through Ambler For Early Birds (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B-, 13-15 mph, 45 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. We will go up through Chestnut Hill, through Wyndmoor, into Fort Washington, through Ambler, and home through Manyunk (with an extended coffee break in Manyunk, 7 miiles from finish). By end of ride, we will have averaged between 13 and 15 mph, i.e., including hills and flats. Partial cue sheets provided. We will assemble at 7:50 and leave at 8:00 am SHARP!     Sat October 6, 2012 - The SSC Outer Loop

    Level B/C+, 13-15 mph, 80 or 37 miles. Spring Mill SEPTA station or Evansburg State Park (bathrooms). The ride leaves at 8:15 am. Did you want to ride the SSC route from Evansburg back to Evansburg on the recent BCP century, but, for various reason couldn't? Well, here's your chance. The 80 mile route will leave from the Spring Mill train station (where the Schuylkill Trail passes, just off Hector St., in Conshohocken). We will follow the SSC to Evansburg, to meet with any riders desiring to only do the 37 miles route. NOTE: Evansburg route will leave at 10:00, or immediately after the group arrive from Spring Mill. One convenience store stop is planned, which will be at/near the furthest point from the ride starts. Please plan accordingly. NOTE: SEPTA train arrives from center city at 8:00, hence the 8:15 start. Cue sheets will be available.

Frequently we ride to Ambler, but we may ride to other locations such as North Wales or Devon. We'll keep a steady pace and effort (rolling speed on flat terrain 15-16 mph). Bring money for a snack. A forecast on Friday at 9:00 pm calling for 50% or greater chance of rain on Saturday between 8:00 am and noon, or wet roads on Saturday at 8:00 am, will cancel the ride.     Level B-/C+, 13-15 mph, 53+/- miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. Scenic loop through Montgomery and Lower Bucks Counties, to the bakery in Peddlers Village in Lahaska. This route is modified from a Doug & Linda Mueller ride. Outbound route will go through Warrington and Jamison, and the return will take us through New Britain and Lower Gwynedd. The bakery rest stop (at Peddlers Village) is at mile 26. On the return, we can stop at the Market at Delaware Valley College, south of Doylestown, at mile 38. Total elevation gain is 2980 feet. We'll stop to regroup as needed. Cue sheets will be available. We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Depending on the destination, starting point may be in Conshohocken, Flourtown, Jenkintown, Wayne, Valley Forge, etc. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for three out of four Fridays in October (5th, 12th, and 26th). NO Friday Frolic ride on October 19, since the Leader will be at the Fall Foliage Weekend in Hanover/Gettysburg. Beginning in November, start time will be slightly later, due to early morning chilly temps. Start early, 8am to Conshohocken, Outbound Cafe which I hear has reopened while I was cycling across the USA this summer. We will go out MLK Dr. to the end, climb out of the valley to City Line Ave. Then to the Cynwyd Heritage Trail, crossing the Green Lane Bridge over the Schuylkill River, on to the Manayunk Canal Trail and SRT to our destination. We will return via River Road. I kept up with some of the discussion of D rides and C rides speeds and terrain so I am throwing in one or two hills to challenge any D riders who are up for the challenge and for average C riders to get the feel of reality that there will be hills and you might as well get an easy taste for them. If you don't, you will be limiting your cycling adventures. We will be back in time to catch Philadelphia Film Festival's showing of Not Fade Away, Dir: David Chase, Cast: John Magaro, James Grandolfini at the Prince Theatre, 12:20 PM.     Level C+, 13-14 mph, 41 miles. Meet at Ft. Washington State Park, Flourtown Picnic Area. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Some days we'll scope out some new routes, and other days ride some familiar favorites. Today we'll ride to Rosenbergers Dairy at about mile 24 for a quick bite to eat.     Level B-, 15 mph, 26 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 4:00 pm. Ride will leave promptly at 4pm. Yup, 4pm. Our last Thursday night Hill Climb !! We will be back by dusk, but please be sure to have a bright taillight and headlight on your bike. Ride will follow the usual 3-Hill route. This is a no-drop ride with frequent re-groupings.     Fri October 26, 2012 - Friday Frolic w/Linda--Wayne to Collegeville

    Level C+/B-, 13-15 mph, 50 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. Let's enjoy one of Tom Madle's scenic routes for central Montgomery County. The route will take us through part of Valley Forge Park, then across the Schuylkill River, on our way to the pretty towns of Trappe and Collegeville. Pass famous Ott's Nursery. Rest stop in Collegeville @ half-way point. Part of the route will be on the shaded Perkiomen Trail, between Valley Forge and Oaks. This is a PAVED section of the trail -- NO gravel.     Level A-/ B+, 16-17 mph, 40-55 miles. Meet at Main Line Cycles back parking lot, Narberth, PA. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Great roads with low traffic. Narberth through Bryn Mawr and out to Waynesborough Country Club. Then south to Ridley Creek State Park. Back through Villanova (and Gladwyne if the group wants more hills). No one gets dropped. Bring a snack for brief mid-ride break. Rain or snow cancels, but low temperatures and wet roads don't. Consider the on-line route approximate. Start time will move to 9AM in December.     Sat October 27, 2012 - A View of Philadelphia from under the Frankford El

    Level C, 13 mph, 25 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. This ride will give you a view of Philadelphia that many have never seen. We'll be riding under the Frankford El from Girard Avenue up to Bridge Street. This is a challenging ride but we will stop at some interesting places along the way. We'll look at some old buildings and learn a little about the history of Philadelphia as we ride along Kings Highway (now known as Frankford Avenue). Make sure your bike is in good condition - particularly your tires. Bring a spare tube - or two. You must wear a helmet. We will stay together as a group. No one will be dropped. Note the early 8:30 am start. That's so we can be back by noon - time for you to ride over to the Bike Expo at the 23rd Street Armory!     Sat October 27, 2012 - Conshohocken to Phoenixville via Blue Bell and the SRT

    Level B-/B, 13-16 mph, 40 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. This will be a relatively flat ride since I'll be on tandem. We'll head out to Blue Bell, go thru the Farm Park and pick up the SRT and from there head to Phoenixville for lunch. We'll return to Conshy before 2pm via the SRT. Slower or faster riders welcome to join. To get to ride start location come over the Conshohocken bridge, make a right at the light, cross 1st traffic light at Harry St. then make your next right onto Ash St. and proceed to dead end at the river where we'll meet in the Jacobs Engineerring Parking lot located at 2 Ash St., Conshohocken, PA. We'll keep a steady pace and regroup at several locations or as necessary. To shorten the lunch stop, we will call in orders to Toto's for prepared food/sandwiches/salads at the mid-point of the ride.     Sun October 28, 2012 - CANCELLED Rally Round the Mountain - Strausstown

    Level B-, 13-15 mph, 52 miles. Strausstown, PA PA-183 just past I-78, parking lot on left (pay $1 at sheepskin store across street). The ride leaves at 9:30 am. This is a challenging ride (4400+ feet of climbing) with many rewards. Blue Mountain looms on the horizon for most of the ride, until the end, when a climb up Big Blue ends in a screaming descent to the parking lot. This ride features very low traffic roads, beautiful scenery, a flat first 20 miles, biplanes, Sikh and Hindu places of worship, a scenic wooded climb, and a rest stop at the half-way point. Come join us for an enjoyable pre-Halloween ride to Merrymead Farm near Lansdale/N. Wales. We will ride to Evansburg St. Park and then Merrymead Farms at about mile 27. They have apples, cider and donuts this time of year, so bring cash. Costumes are optional, but encouraged. Depending on turnout, we'll divide into two paces or ride as one group. Ride will go through Fairmount Park to get to the Bala Heritage Trail with a rest and recovery stop. Any age welcome, but will be a OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) ride. No one will be dropped. Mostly on low traveled areas, but will also be on the streets for some of the ride. We will pass the Azelea Garden before continueing to the Bike Expo at the 23rd St. Armory to end the ride.     Level C-, 12 mph, 20 miles. Lloyd Hall at the start of boat house row behind the art museium. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. The late Mort Packel led a group of mostly retired riders every Wednesday morning on a fun, informal ride. I'd like to bring that back. Bring a lock ;and money for lunch and enjoy inspired conversation and good companionship. Alternate ride suggestions are very welcome. Bring lock and money for a light meal.     Wed October 31, 2012 - Conshohocken to Philly Art Museum "Night Lights" Ride

    Level C thru A, 12-18 mph, 27 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:15 pm. This is a "road bike" ride that requires a strong front headlight and a rear tail light. We have 3 different groups (C, B and B+) which ride between 12 and 18 mph. We typically get @ 25 riders on warm nights. We meet 6pm at Jacobs Engineering parking lot, 2 Ash St., Conshohocken, PA. We leave the lot 6:15 sharp and head to the Philly Art Museum area via Roxboro, Manyunk and East Falls. We take a short 5 minute bathroom/snack break at Lloyd Hall before returning to Conshohocken by 8:30. Rain or starting temp. below 40F cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available.
