Level D/D+/C-, 8-13 mph, 19-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 10:15 am. Anyone for hot coffee, tea, or cocoa, mixed with warm conversation? Let's head west/NW toward the Main Line, at an easy, relaxed pace, in search of a welcoming cafe. We will climb a few hills here & there, but slow & gentle climbing (or walking up hills) is perfectly fine on this ride. We'll stop to regroup as often as needed. Scenic loop from Bruno's to the impressive Bryn Athyn Cathedral & College on Huntingdon Pike. This is a Tom Madle route, which takes us from Chestnut Hill to Huntingdon Valley, via Flourtown, Jenkintown, and Rockledge. Quick rest stop (indoor) at mile 19. Terrain is rolling with some steep climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total elevation is 2105 ft. Cue sheets will be available. Pretty loop through Montgomery County, passing through Ambler, Blue Bell, Evansburg, Eagleville, across the Perkiomen, on our way to Collegeville. Indoor rest stop at mile 23 at Wegman's. Return route will include the flat Schuylkill River Trail for ~5 miles, and we'll ride through Norristown Farm Park. If a second quick stop is needed, there is a convenience store at mile 38. Return of the popular annual Holiday Lights Tour, circling the neighborhoods of South Philly, where homes are festively and colorfully decorated and lit for the holidays. This is a shorter (winter) variation of Mike Olszewski's route from Flourtown. On the return, we'll cross peaceful Springfield Lake in Churchville. Tue December 25, 2012 - CANCELLED Tuesday Morning Ramble
Level C, 12.5 to 13 mph, 32+ miles. Meet at Whites Road Park between Broad St and Valley Forge Rd, Lansdale. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. We'll ride Northern Montgomery County and Northern Bucks County with generally a new ride every week. Some have food stops but always bring snack and plenty of water just in case we're extremely remote. I will post to the listserve if cancellation is required by 8:00 A.M. We won't ride wet roads nor serious threat thereof. Cue sheets will not be available.

Tue December 25, 2012 - Try your new holliday gift ride
Level D, 8-11 mph, 18-25 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. The ride will follow the SRT at a comfortable pace with no one dropped. This will be a chance for you try out any new bikes or accessories that you acquired for the hollidays. There will be a break about 1/2 way. But bring snacks in case there is no place open. Tue December 25, 2012 - CANCELLED Conshy Night Ride
Level C thru B+, 13-17 mph, 25 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Meet at 6:00 pm for a prompt 6:15 roll out to the Art Museum and back. In addition to the usual helmet, headlight and taillight required. This ride will be every Tuesday unless the weather forces a re-schedule to Wednesday. If conditions change, cancellations or re-schedules will be made via list serves and websites no later than 4 pm the day of the ride. Depending on the number and riding preferences of those present, we will either split into pace groups or have a single group with a leader and a sweep. Nobody will dropped off the back. Hope to see you regularly through the winter. It sure beats waiting and wishing for the Spring. Cue sheets will not be available. Level B-/B, 15-17 mph, 25 +/- miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:15 pm. POSTPONED TO THURSDAY NIGHT DEC 27. Ride to the Art Museum and back using the bike path and some roads. Regroup as needed, only hills are on Umbria Street and River Road. Please email or text me to let me know if you will be there. I think we would need at least 5 riders for safety riding through Manayunk and the West River Drive area Cue sheets will not be available.

Wed December 26, 2012 - Phoenixville Dog Rides - Night of the Living Dog
Level B-, 13-15 mph, 20-30 miles. . The ride leaves at 8:00 pm. Strap on the lights, wear your reflective clothing, be bright and garish, and come ride in the dark. We ride on roads with very little traffic.This ride leaves from the Reynolds Dog Park on Longford Road in Mont Clare, just across the river from Phoenixville. Thu December 27, 2012 - CANCELLED 202 Parkway Trail Night Ride
Level R, 14-15 mph, 25 miles. Gwyneed Crossing Shopping Center, North Wales, PA (Route 309 and Welsh Road). The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Meet at 6:00 pm for a prompt 6:15 roll out. In addition to the usual helmet, a headlight and a taillight required. Rain, snow or potential temperatures below freezing will cancel. Cancellations posted no later than 4 pm day of ride. From the parking lot at Whole Foods (snacks and indoor potties!), we'll ride through neighborhood streets to cross Welsh Road at a light onto the Trail. We'll follow the Trail out to Doylestown, make a loop through some neighborhoods in the vicinity of Central Park then return via the Trail. Terrain is rolling, but there are no killer hills. Fri December 28, 2012 - Friday Frolic w/Linda -- Ft. Washington State Park (HAWK WATCH) to Audubon & Trooper.
Level B-/C+, 13-15 mph, 45 miles. Meet at Ft. Washington State Park Hawk Watch Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 9:45 am. Scenic loop from the Flourtown/Ft. Washington area through Montgomery County, to Audubon & Trooper, near Valley Forge. We'll cross a few creeks and explore some quiet roads. Indoor rest stop at mile 26 in Audubon. Rolling terrrain with a few brisk climbs, but nothing too steep -- total elevation 2600'. Most climbing will be before the rest stop. The return route will include the flat Schuylkill River Trail, from Betzwood to Spring Mill. We will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped. Cue sheets will be available. Sat December 29, 2012 - Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride
Level A, 16-18 mph, 40-55 miles. Meet at Main Line Cycles back parking lot, Narberth, PA. The ride leaves at 8:50 am. Great roads with low traffic. Narberth through Bryn Mawr and out to Waynesborough Country Club. Then south to Ridley Creek State Park. Back through Villanova (and Gladwyne if the group wants more hills). No one gets dropped. Speed determined by the group. Bring a snack for brief mid-ride break. Rain or snow cancels, but low temperatures and wet roads don't. Consider the on-line route approximate. Leave at 9:00AM. Sat December 29, 2012 - Burlington City, NJ
Level C, 12 mph, 40 miles. Penn Treaty Park, Delaware Ave and Beach Street. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Burlington City is on the other side of the Delaware rive from Bristle, therefore the name, Burlington Bristle Bridge! That bridge is not open to cyclists so we will take the Ben Franklin Bridge to NJ and follow the Delaware River to Burlington City. We will have lunch at a dinner on Route 130. Returning the same way but will cross back into Philly via the Tacony Palmyra Bridge. There will be a quiz, Which towns or areas do these bridges connect and what was the original name of the Ben Franklin Bridge, why was it changed? Rain or snow one hour to start cancels. Level C+, 13-14 mph, 40-50 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 10:15 am. NOTE: the new start time. Frequently we ride to Ambler, but we may ride to other locations such as North Wales or Devon. Cue sheets for the Ambler ride and the North Wales ride can be found in the BCP Cue Sheet Library at BCP Philly to Ambler Ride - Toto's Cafe and BCP North Wales Ride. We'll keep a steady pace and effort (rolling speed on flat terrain 15-16 mph). Bring money for a snack. A forecast on Friday at 9:00 pm calling for 50% or greater chance of rain on Saturday between 9:00 am and noon, or wet roads on Saturday at 9:00 am, will cancel the ride. Pretty loop from Flourtown/Fort Washington into Bucks County, to Newtown via trails in Tyler State Park, crossing Neshaminy Creek. Indoor rest stop (choice of eateries) at mid-way point. Optional quick stop on the return at mile 35. Rolling terrain with a few brisk climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total climbing 2700 ft. Sun December 30, 2012 - Sunday Afternoon (Post-Hike) Winter Ramble -- Bruno's to Warminster & Huntingdon Valley
Level C+/B-, 13-15 mph, 30 miles. Meet at Bruno's, Northwestern and Germantown Aves. The ride leaves at 1:20 pm. For hiker-bikers who enjoy the Sunday morning Wissahickon hikes -- this allows you to have your hike and bike it, too. Starting temperature will be warmer by this time of day. 30-mile loop from Chestnut Hill to Warminster and Huntingdon Valley, returning via Willow Grove & Roslyn. Rolling terrain, with a few brisk climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total climbing is 1877 ft. No one dropped. Short indoor rest break at mile 17. Please make sure that your bike is ready (tires inflated, etc.) before starting time, and bring lights, just in case we are delayed on our return. Cue sheets will be available. Sun December 30, 2012 - Sunday Afternoon (Post-Hike) Winter Ramble Ride (General description -- specific details will be posted for each Sunday)
Level C+/B-, 13-15 mph, 30+/- miles. Meet at Bruno's, Northwestern and Germantown Aves. The ride leaves at 1:21 pm. Scenic, 30-ish mile loop, usually through Montgomery County or Lower Bucks, with a brief rest stop. Unless otherwise stated, afternoon ride will meet at Bruno's (finishing point for many of the Sunday morning Wissahickon hikes). Even if you don't join the hike in the morning, you are welcome to ride with us! We will stop to regroup as needed, but try as much as possible to maintain 13-15, due to short daylight. Plan is to get back before 5:00pm. Please bring lights, just in case we return in the nick of time. Please ensure that your bike is ready before start time, so that we can leave promptly. Specific details will be posted for each Sunday's Route. Scheduled for EVERY Sunday throughout the winter, weather permitting, EXCEPT Feb. 24 (Leader will be away 2/24). This ride will resume on March 3. Cue sheets will be available.
