Don't miss the 19th running of the 21st annual Italian Fountain Century, counterclockwise this year - new metric option, quit after only 633 laps. Sag support by Rick Shaw.     Level C+: 13mph, 15 miles. Meet at United Artists 6 movie theatre, Main Strreet, Manayunk. The ride leaves at 5:15 pm. Easy, out & back ride via the Schuylkill River Trail along Kelly Drive into Center City, to join Tom Witt and his crew at Cozen O'Connor, to prepare the April Quick Release newsletter for mailing. Please bring LOCKS and LIGHTS for the return trip. Light refreshments are served at the newsletter mailing party. It is optional, but you may preregister until Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 3:00 pm.

    Levels B/B-: 14.5-15mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Bulldog Statue, 25th St. and Pennsylvania Ave.. The ride leaves at 5:45 pm. Early start to season with shorter, slower ride at B- pace. Ride length will increase with daylight and pace will pickup to B/B+ by summer. Headlights and taillights required.     Thu April 4, 2019 - Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Levels B: 15mph, B-/C+: 14mph, 25 -35 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 5:45 pm. A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 - 35 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. Two different paced groups: Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph. Bike lights are highly recommended. Optional after-ride drinks at local beer gardens (bring ID & money). Cue sheets will not be available.

    Levels C: 12mph, 25 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 5:46 pm. A true C level version of the Thursday night hill ride, April 4 is the first scheduled "C"vilized ride for 2019. Early season we will likely abbreviate the route to try to beat the darkness home. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Fri April 5, 2019 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. This is the generic description. Specific details will be posted on daily calendar for each Friday.

    Level B-: 14mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Start location to be determined. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk, or snow activity. As long as we are enjoying outdoor exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing. Cue sheets will be available.

    Level D: 10mph, 25 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. D riders , get ready for Summer cycling by going a little bit farther, a little bit faster with a little bit more confidence and skill on this progressive series D rides on each Saturday of April. Cycle each Saturday over the Schuylkill River Trail to Conshohocken, 25 mile , Bridgeport, 35 miles, Valley Forge, 45 miles, and Phoenixville, 55 miles! Do everyone and the leader will treat you to a beverage at the Steel City Cafe ! This week's progressive D ride is to Conshohocken. Cue sheets will not be available. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing.     Sat April 6, 2019 - Lansdale to Ottsville Whole Foods CO-LEADER WELCOME

    Level B-: 14mph, 54 miles. Meet at Pavilion Shoping Center in Lansdale, on Broad St. between Whites Rd & Hancock St.. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Scenic loop from Lansdale to the Kimberton Whole Foods Market in Ottsville, Bucks County. Outbound via Hatfield and Perkasie, return via Plumsteadville, Peace Valley Park, and Colmar. Brief rest stop for snack and bathroom at mile 19 in Pennridge. Lunch stop at Kimberton Whole Foods in Ottsville at mile 29. On the return, if another water stop is needed, we pass a Wawa at mile 49. Total elevation gain is 2529 feet. Please click on the route map link below to preview the elevation profile - there is a significant climb in the beginning, and one at the end. The middle of the route is mostly rolling. We will regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain the advertised pace. Bring your 29er, CX, Gravel or equip your road bike with wider tires as we mashup rides across various asphalt, gravel and sometimes dirt terrains. Expect a good challenge as we grind gravel trails and hit a few climbs with great company for no other purpose than to have fun and put in a few unpaved miles.

    Sun April 7, 2019 - RIVERS, CREEKS, & BRIDGES in HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ CO-LEADER WELCOME

    Level B-: 14mph, 58 miles. Meet at CVS parking lot in Lambertville, NJ, Route 29 at Cherry St.. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Lovely, scenic route along peaceful roads in Hunterdon County. This ride is based on the "Three Bridges Loop" by author Tom Hammell. Many of the roads on this loop are familiar to us from other club rides, also. We'll cross creeks and brooks, as well as the Raritan River. Total climbing 2992 feet. We will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain 13mph, as advertised. There are two Wawa rest stops - at mile 16 in Flemington, and at mile 33 in Three Bridges. On the last stretch of the ride, if another rest stop is needed, there is another convenience store near mile 51 on the cue sheet. OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride for any age through Fairmount Park and beyond. Please bring helmet(required by club rules), water, $ for mid ride snack, and extra-tube. Please dress appropriately for the weather. The ride distance will be determined by the assembled group. There might be a hill or two to improve biking strength. Please wear helmet(required by club), dress for winter weather, extra tube, water, and $ for mid ride snack stop. Instructional biking tips will be available for new riders. There might be a hill or two for resistance as well as aerobic training. Recovery time at top of hills will be available. Please bring smiles, stories, jokes, and a good sense of humor. We will stop at the Spring-Kick Off Picnic at the Philadelphia Canoe Club.

    Sun April 14, 2019 - Early AM, Pre-Picnic Ride to Gwynedd, then, return to the Spring Kick-Off Picnic

    Level B-: 14mph, 45 miles. Meet at Philadelphia Canoe Club, 4900 Ridge Ave, Philadelphia 19127. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Pretty loop from the Philadelphia Canoe Club, site of our Spring Kick-Off Picnic scheduled for later today. On the outbound, we will meander through East Falls, Mt. Airy & Chestnut Hill, Ft. Washington, Ambler, and Springhouse. We'll have a quick rest stop at the mega-Wawa in Gwynedd. We will return via Blue Bell, Plymouth Meeting, and the Schuylkill River Trail to Manayunk. Toward the end of the ride, we will avoid the traffic on Main St in Manayunk by taking the Manayunk Bridge Trail across the river to the Cynwyd Heritage Trail, then re-cross the river on the Penncoyd Bridge, before returning to the Canoe Club. Plan is to finish by ~12:00 - 12:15, in order to help with setting up for the Spring Kick-Off Picnic. Start/Finish: the Philadelphia Canoe Club is accessible via a long gravel driveway, next to the SEPTA Wissahickon Transportation Center on Ridge Ave. This is where the Wissahickon Creek flows into the Schuylkill River.     Sun April 14, 2019 - Delaware County Bikers ride to the Annual Spring Kick-off Picnic

    Level D: 9-13mph, 35-40 miles. Meet at Septa Regional Rail Station, Lansdowne, PA 19050 OutBound Side . The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride from Lansdowne through Delaware County and Montomery County to the Philadelphia Canoe Club for refreshments and rest. The ride difficulty will be a D ride with a C distance and hills. This ride will be a double header as we will then go to the Temple Community Band's Concert. Please bring water, $ for snack incase we decide to stop again, extra tube, and good lights. When we return to Lansdowne it will be dark. The picnic will not be cancelled due to weather, but we can then go by car. The return trip has the option of using Septa Regional Rail back to Lansdowne. It is optional, but you may preregister until Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 6:00 pm.

    Meet at Philadelphia Canoe Club, 4900 Ridge Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19127. The event starts at 1:00 pm. Please join your fellow club-mates at BCP's annual celebration of SPRING, the return of warm weather and memorable bik or Raee rides with friends. Club rides heading to and from the Picnic will be posted on the Ride Calendar. Enjoy the bounty of food, music, and camaraderie. The Picnic is from 1:00 til 4:00pm. Set-up begins at 12:00-12:15. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: If you are available to help with set-up or clean-up, please contact Linda or Rae.     Level C through D: 10-12mph Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 3:03 pm. A short late afternoon ride to the Temple Night Owls Community Band concert featuring our own Walt Johnson. (free admission). We will gather at the Azalea Garden behind the Art Museum Museum and ride 3 miles to the concert, then return afterwards. The concert starts at 4:00 pm. Sunset is at 7:38 pm. -- mostly on city streets with bike lanes -- helmets required -- have lights, just in case of late return, but we should be back before sunset -- Please join us after your Sunday rides for a fun concert in a wonderful venue. A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 - 35 miles by July. Along the way, we'll ride through Horsham and Warrington, Jamison, New Britain, and Springhouse. We'll cross the picturesque Neshaminy Creek on Dark Hollow Rd. Quick rest stops - Wawa at mile 17 in Jamison, and Weis Market in Doylestown at mile 28. (Please note: the Del Val College Market is closed for Easter Sunday.) Terrain is rolling - total climbing is 2236 ft - nothing severe. Please assemble by 8:45, so that we can leave promptly at 9:00am.     Levels B/B-: 14.5-15mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Bulldog Statue, 25th St. and Pennsylvania Ave.. The ride leaves at 5:45 pm. Early start to season with shorter, slower ride at B- pace. Ride length will increase with daylight and pace will pickup to B/B+ by summer. Headlights and taillights required.     Tue April 30, 2019 - Delightful, Delicious D (& D+/C-) Ride, Tuesday Evening Edition

    Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-28 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Scheduled for most Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride.
