We start a new round of Thursday Morning Hill Rides which has five versions maybe if last week's ride proved doable, six. Version #1 Conshohocken State Rd, the shortest and easiest to navigate, #2 Mill Creek Rd, Hollow Rd, Hagesford Rd. #3 backwards version of #2 climbing out of the Schuylkill River Valley at Flat Rock Park on Mill Creek Rd, all the way gentley up to Ardmore's Farmers Market for coffee. #4 Youngs Ford Rd, Wayerly Rd. #5 Merion Squre Rd, maybe the steepest, #6 doing Wayerly Rd, Youngs Ford Rd version backwards. Hike Moderate Pace on Moderate Trails, 7-8 miles. Meet at Tyler State Park, 101 Swamp Rd, Newtown, PA 18940. The hike leaves at 9:30 am. Please join us for a 7-8 mile hike in Tyler State Park, along the scenic and meandering Neshaminy Creek.🥾 PLEASE PREREGISTER ahead of time, so that the Leader(s) will be able to plan for no more than 10 hikers per group. SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the rain on Friday and Saturday, trails may be muddy. Hiking gear is strongly recommended: hiking shoes/boots, hiking poles, and grippers for under your shoes. Along the way, ride past peaceful Green Lane Reservoir, green countryside, and quaint small towns. Total climbing 2900 ft. Most of the climbing is in the middle of the route. Level B-: 14mph, 50 miles. Meet at Parking lot behind the Chadds Ford Post Office, at US-1/Baltimore Pike, PA-100/Creek Rd, and Hoffman's Mill Rd. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Hilly but pretty and meandering loop through southern Chester County, PA and northern Delaware, crossing the scenic Brandywine Creek a few times, as well as a few other creeks and streams. This route is based on a ride led by Tom Madle and Katie Eberhart, with an additional loop around the lovely & peaceful Hoopes Reservoir. We'll ride on "Stargazer Rd", and through green, rural countryside. Optional outdoor quick stop in Unionville at mile 19. Outdoor rest stop at mile 27 in Kennett Square - choice of eateries. Total elevation gain is 3000 ft. We will stop to regroup as needed. Most of the climbing is in the first half. Please bring an on-bike snack with you, as well as two water bottles. Level B-: 14mph, 51 miles. Meet at Hammonton Walmart parking lot, White Horse Pike (US-30). The ride leaves at 10:00 am. South Jersey received significantly less snow in this week's snowstorm compared with Southeastern PA, so the roads in Hammonton and points farther south are now clear and dry. This scenic route is based on a Tom Madle cue sheet from a few years ago. Pretty loop from Hammonton to Historic Smithville, for an OUTDOOR lunch stop at the half-way mark (mile 26). Cross the scenic Mullica River. Pass through the cute towns of Port Republic and Egg Harbor City. There is a lake with outdoor seating near the coffee shop at Historic Smithville. Each year this ride gets longer, yet each year we cycle to the same destination, Trenton, NJ, Trenton Makes, the World Takes! Coffee at a Dunkn Donuts 13 miles, pack a lunch for a stop along the Delaware River in Trenton, and pick up a hoagie to go in Bordentown, NJ for dinner once you are home.
