Sat January 29, 2022 - High Noon Ride - La Colume, Fishtown

Level D: 10mph, 15 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. These cold Winter days have forced me to start this ride at high noon to give the temperature a chance to rise. Today's ride will be short and easy. We will again cycle over to the Delaware River and ride the entire length of the newly constructed Delaware River Trail from Washington Ave to Penn Treaty Park. Coffee will be taken at La Colume in Fishtown on Frankford Avenue. Proof of Covid Vacation need to sit inside is needed. I wish to sit inside! If KYW is reporting rain, snow or icy road conditions outside their studio one hour prior to start, ride cancels. Cue sheets will not be available.

Sun January 30, 2022 - Sunday AM Winter Hike in the Pretty, Snow-Covered Wissahickon - CHANGE IN STARTING TIME, MEETING POINT, & ROUTE, due to snow on the roads and trails

Hike Swift Pace on Moderate Trails, Moderate Pace on Moderate Trails, 5.5 miles. Meet at Bruno's, Northwestern and Germantown Aves. The hike leaves at 9:45 am. For 1/30: Hike is still ON, however, the several inches of snow we just received will require us to adjust the route. Microspikes and hiking poles are strongly recommended, for better traction in the snow. Meet at Bruno's, then we'll hike down Forbidden Drive, mostly flat, to the Valley Green Inn for a bathroom/snack break. Returning from Valley Green on Forbidden Drive toward Bell's Mill & Bruno's, just past the Covered Bridge, we'll take the cut-off up to the Yellow Trail for a short stretch of higher trails. For hikers who prefer to stay on a flat trail, staying on Forbidden Drive will shave off half a mile. The starting time has been pushed back to 9:45, in case driving on the roads is a bit slower than usual. The on-line route map is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38456567.
