    Sat October 1, 2022 - CANCELLED Bordentown, NJ by bike , Philly return by riverline

    Level C: 12mph, 35 miles. Meet at Foot of Ben Franklin Bridge. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Last time we went to Bordentown it was in the 90s so let's see how we do if the temps are more moderate. We will ride out to Bordentown, NJ get some lunch and see if the Bordentown Creamery is still open for a sweet treat. Return via the Riverline which drops off at the Rutgers Camden campus and then we can ride back across the bridge. If you want to ride on to Trenton and catch Septa home, that is an option. Alternatively you can ride home or ride part way and take the RiverLine part way. Bring a bungee for the train. The Riverline runs every 20 minutes and can take 6 bikers at a time, so if there are more than 6 of us we will have to split up into two groups. If you are riding on to Trenton please note that after Bordentown you are on a canal path. NB the posted route map goes all the way to Princeton Jct. The road is fully paved until Bordentown.     Level D: 9-12mph, 12-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 1:00 am. OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride through Fairmount Park and beyond for any age. Wearing a helmet is required by the club. Please bring extra tube and tools to change a tire, water, sunscreen, and $ for snack stop during the ride. If you are reasonably new to riding, let me know the night before, I will have a short session learning and practicing an essenstial biking skill.

    Level C through D: 10-12mph, 10 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:45 pm. A one-way special Oktoberfest ride to the Chestnut Hill Brewery. Brewery owner and BCP rider Nick Gunderson, will be arranging Oktoberfest games and music to celebrate the release of his Fiestbier. A 20% discount on food and drink is being offered to all riders! Traditional German Octoberfest clothing (Lederhosen and Dirndle dresses) is highly encouraged and there will be a prize for the best outfit. For those that do not wish to ride back to the city afterwards, there are trains from Chestnut East at 3:05, 5:05, and 7:05 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

JOIN US FOR OUR RYBT RIDER APPRECIATION CELEBRATION, A JOINT BCP AND SCU EVENT. Whether you are a regular, or a first timer perhaps taking a mental health day off from work, come ride with us as we celebrate the 2022 riding season at Pizza Time Saloon in West Point (8 miles from the finish). We'll have 4 paces available, each riding the same route to the first rest stop (Heebner Park @ mile 14). After that all groups will ride a similar route, but with each adding some miles so that we can arrive around the same time. Expect good company on safe/low trafficked roads and relatively mild terrain for the area (we do get to go up Bean Rd. though).Will regroup as needed, but must be able to ride the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy - rain cancels, but may reschedule for Wed.     Fri October 7, 2022 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. Central Park Doylestown to Lambertville, then Ringoes for Lunch. Co-Leaders Welcome to lead alternative speed groups.

    Level B-: 14mph, 55 miles. Meet at Central Park in Doylestown - Wells Rd between Turk and Lower State/Court St.. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. For 10/7: This scenic meander is a favorite route from Doylestown into Hunterdon County - Lambertville, than Ringoes for lunch. Pretty meander through Bucks County, crossing the Delaware River at New Hope. From Lambertville, we will need to DETOUR past Alexauken Creek Rd (still closed for repairs) and use Seabrook & Lambertville Headquarters Rd. The detour is just as pretty. Lunch in Ringoes (choice of eateries) is at Mile 26. Before lunch, there is a Wawa near New Hope at Mile 16. On the return, we'll re-cross the river at Bulls Island. If another rest break is needed for snack and/or bathroom, we can stop at the Lumberville Store at Mile 42, or, Maximuck's Farm Market at Mile 46. Terrain is rolling, but no severe climbs.     Level D: 10mph, 45 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. We will take the Adventure Cycling Association's route towards Wilmington, DE which most of it is the Delaware County Route 1 bike route. It parallels Rt 1S. It is well marked. There are at least two challenging hills. Exactly 20 miles out is Infinite Dinner for a late breakfast or early lunch. Get your oatmeal breakfast at home, for there will be not stops until the dinner. Return route will have us cycling down to Marcus Hook, PA.     Sat October 8, 2022 - Annual Round Valley Reservoir Adventure - CO-LEADERS WELCOME. New & Improved Route, thanks to Charlie B., Scott S., and Dave K.

    Level B-: 14mph, 62 miles. Meet at Holcombe Jimison Farmstead, 1605 Daniel Bray Highway, Lambertville, NJ 08530. The ride leaves at 9:45 am. Very pretty and scenic meander through Hunterdon County. Due to residual damage from last year's storm, the route we've followed in recent years needed some adjustments. Thanks to Charlie Brandt, Scott Siegfried, and Dave Kaplan for researching some alternative roads and creating an adjusted route that's pretty and peaceful, with quaint towns and a picturesque crossing of the Raritan River. On our way to the reservoir and to lunch in Whitehouse Station, we have a convenience store rest stop at Mile 14. Cervenka Farm Market is at Mile 18.5. Scenery break at the reservoir at Mile 28. Heading into Whitehouse Station for lunch, there is a park with bathrooms at Mile 34. Lunch at Jerry's Brooklyn Grille at Mile 35. On the return, there is a Wawa at Mile 44. Total elevation gain is 3105 ft, with most of the climbing in the first half. Start/Finish is the gravel parking lot behind the Holcombe Jimison Farmstead. There is no restroom in this parking lot, but restrooms are available nearby at the CVS. Also, at Mile 2.9 of the route, there are restrooms at Prallsville Mills. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. we're riding the SRT from the Cromby trailhead to check out the newest section of the SRT and the progress of the bike/ped bridge over the river at Pottstown.     Sun October 9, 2022 - DEFERRED for 10/9. Will reschedule soon. Hopewell Furnace Classic with UPDATED ROUTE by Charlie B. CO-LEADERS WELCOME

    Level B-: 14mph, 63 miles. Meet at French Creek State Park, parking lot at Hopewell Lake, near the boat launch area. The ride leaves at 9:45 am. An incredibly scenic ride through the Oley Valley in Berks County. Thanks to Rich Wagner for the original version of this picturesque route, and thanks to Charlie B. to updating the route. Featuring the crossing of two covered bridges, Three rest stops. One at your standard convenience store. One at a great little deli/restaurant in the quaint town of Oley. And even one at a chocolatier. Terrain will consist of significant climbs for the first and last 15 miles , but this route has been adjusted, so that the beginning and ending climbs over the ridge are more gentle, less steep. The middle 30 is rolling to flat. This will be one of the prettiest rides you will do this year. Cue sheets will be available. Total climbing 3847 feet. We will stop to regroup as needed. DRIVING DIRECTIONS to French Creek State Park: Take the Main PA Turnpike (I-76) West to the Downingtown Exit. This is two exits beyond (west of) the Valley Forge exit. After leaving the Turnpike, take PA 100 North/Pottstown Pike for 4 miles. You will pass through the town of Eagle. Turn left onto Conestoga Rd/PA-401 West. Stay on 401 West for 6 miles, then turn right onto PA-345 North/Bulltown Rd. Follow PA-345 North for 4 miles. There will be signs on 345 for French Creek State Park, and Hopewell Lake. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll be riding to the Bucks County Biscotti stand @ mile 23 - an outdoor honor stand. Bring $5.00 for a dozen delicious biscottis and something to carry them in, assuming you aren't eating them on the spot. We'll have a quick park rest stop at mile 15 (porta-potties only) and a park lunch stop at mile 32 (bring snacks/sandwich, bathroom available and drinks available across the street). Expect generally flat to rolling hills terrain (other than going up Skunk Hollow - a long but not steep climb) and good company on safe/low trafficked roads. We'll regroup as needed, but be prepared to maintain the posted pace. So let's try this ride again. We will take the Adventure Cycling Association's route towards Wilmington, DE which most of it is the Delaware County Route 1 bike route. It parallels Rt 1S. It is well marked. There are at least two challenging hills. Exactly 20 miles out is Infinite Dinner for a late breakfast or early lunch. Get your oatmeal breakfast at home, for there will be not stops until the dinner. Return route will have us cycling down to Marcus Hook, PA. Then into Philly via the Industrial Highway and past the Airport. If KYW is reporting rain outside their studio one hour prior to start, ride cancels. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Level B-: 14mph, 63 miles. Meet at French Creek State Park, parking lot at Hopewell Lake, near the boat launch area. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. An incredibly scenic ride through the Oley Valley in Berks County. Thanks to Rich Wagner for the original version of this picturesque route, and thanks to Charlie B. to updating the route. Featuring the crossing of two covered bridges, Three rest stops. One at your standard convenience store. One at a great little deli/restaurant in the quaint town of Oley. And even one at a chocolatier. Terrain will consist of significant climbs for the first and last 15 miles , but this route has been adjusted, so that the beginning and ending climbs over the ridge are more gentle, less steep. The middle 30 is rolling to flat. This will be one of the prettiest rides you will do this year. Cue sheets will be available. Total climbing 3847 feet. We will stop to regroup as needed. DRIVING DIRECTIONS to French Creek State Park: Take the Main PA Turnpike (I-76) West to the Downingtown Exit. This is two exits beyond (west of) the Valley Forge exit. After leaving the Turnpike, take PA 100 North/Pottstown Pike for 4 miles. You will pass through the town of Eagle. Turn left onto Conestoga Rd/PA-401 West. Stay on 401 West for 6 miles, then turn right onto PA-345 North/Bulltown Rd. Follow PA-345 North for 4 miles. There will be signs on 345 for French Creek State Park, and Hopewell Lake.     Level C/C-: 12mph, 35 miles. Meet at Foot of Ben Franklin Bridge. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Last time we went to Bordentown it was in the 90s so let's see how we do if the temps are more moderate. We will ride out to Bordentown, NJ get some lunch and see if the Bordentown Creamery is still open for a sweet treat. Return via the Riverline which drops off at the Rutgers Camden campus and then we can ride back across the bridge. If you want to ride on to Trenton and catch Septa home, that is an option. Alternatively you can ride home or ride part way and take the RiverLine part way. Bring a bungee for the train. The Riverline runs every 20 minutes and can take 6 bikers at a time, so if there are more than 6 of us we will have to split up into two groups. If you are riding on to Trenton please note that after Bordentown you are on a canal path. The meetup is on the PA side of the bridge, but we can meet you on the NJ side if that is easier for you.     Level B-: 14-14mph, 15-75+ miles. Meet at Hampton Inn of Hanover, PA, 309 Wilson Ave @ Einsenhower Drive, 17331. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Day 3 of 3: BCP's annual fall foliage bike tour of Hanover and Gettysburg, PA, and surrounding countryside in York and Adams Counties. Ride past peaceful horse farms, across creeks and lakes, and around the quaint town of Gettysburg, as well as through Gettysburg National Park (the Battlefield). Preregistration and payment are required. Event details and the registration page are available at: BCPWeekends.org Wide array of routes with various distances and terrains are available. Organized group rides with leaders. Hotel, meals, and snacks provided, post-ride parties, and live music. Cue sheet packets will include routes and maps. All-inclusive package. OWLS(Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride through Fairmount Park and beyond. Please wear Helmet(required by the club). Bring extra tube and tools to fix a flat, water, proper dress for the weather, $ for mid ride snack. If the weather is not conducive for riding this Sunday, I will hold, instead, a flat tire repair clinic on the 2nd Floor at Cosmic Cafe. I will have an extra wheel, tire, tools and tube, so you can practice fixing a flat tire. I must be notified by phone if you want to come to the flat tire repair clinic by 10:30 AM on Sunday Morning.

    Levels B+: 16-17mph, B through C+: 13-14mph, B-: 14-15mph, C: 12-13mph, 45 miles. Meet at Central Park, Doylestown. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Final regularly scheduled Tuesday ride of the season. November is ad hoc - different start locations each week. The forecast will determine the day of week and time of day. Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll ride to the Lumberville General Store (mile 32.7) for lunch, with a rest stop on the way out in Lambertville (mile 18). Mostly rolling hills with some moderately steeper climbs here and there. Expect good company on safe, low trafficked and very scenic roads. We'll regroup as needed, but be prepared to maintain the posted pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws.Check day of the ride if weather is iffy - rain cancels, but may reschedule for Wed. Cue sheets will not be available.     Thu October 27, 2022 - Thursday Morning Hill Ride: Short Route

    Levels D: 10mph, 23 miles. Meet at Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, # 1 Boathouse Row, Kelly Dr, East Fairmount Park . The ride leaves at 10:00 am. We'll take our usual route to Hagys Ford Road, descend to West Mill Creek Park, and then climb Conshohocken State Road. This is the only challenging climb on the ride. And there is a workaround that allows you to avoid it and meet the group at the top of the climb. After that is it mostly downhill to the Cynwyd Trail, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, and lunch at the Landing Kitchen. In case of inclement weather, I will cancel the ride by 9 AM. If the ride isn't canceled it's going. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Fri October 28, 2022 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. EARLIER START TIME - Art Museum to Gwynedd and Springhouse. (SPECIAL EDITION - MEET at ART MUSEUM, due to setting up the Expo booth at the Convention Center at 2:00pm

    Level B-: 14mph, 52 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. EARLIER START TIME, due to having to be at the Convention Center earlier (by 2:00pm) for the Expo set-up of our club booth. (The POTUS and VPOTUS will be visiting Phila. this evening, so all Bike Expo exhibitors need to complete their booth set-ups by 5:00pm.) Pretty loop from the Art Mueum to Ambler, North Wales, and Gwynedd. Outbound via Mt. Airy, Chestnut Hill, and Erdenheim. Optional quick rest stop at mile 20, then lunch stop at mile 28 at the new, huge, Whole Foods Market in Springhouse. Return via Gwynedd, Blue Bell, Plymouth Meeting, and the Schuylkill River Trail from Spring Mill to the finish. Total climbing is 2923 ft, and the terrain is mostly rolling. The final stretch on the SRT is flat. We will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain at least 13mph average, as advertised. Plan is to return before 3:00 - Leader needs to get to the Convention Center to set-up the BCP booth for the Bike Expo this weekend. MEETING POINT & PARKING: We will be meeting at the Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum, on Aquarium/Waterworks Drive. The parking here is timed, however, on the other side of Kelly Drive, Sedgley Drive has plenty of street parking without time limits. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing. Cue sheets will be available.     Level B-: 14-14.5mph, 55 +/- miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Assemble at 8:30. Depart at 8:35 SHARP! Ride through West Fairmount Park, Bala Cynwyd. Merion, Havertown, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Devon, Wayne, Conshohocken, etc., finishing with Manayunk Bridge and East Fairmount Park Loops. At mile 26 or so, 35-minute coffee stop at Pour Richards (it's all about the coffee). Many hills (approx. 3,100 feet of climbing), including 10 or so relatively long ones, but no killers. Will regroup if necessary, but riders are expected to maintain the group pace. Cue sheets will not be available.
