    Sun April 2, 2023 - Sunshine & Coffee: Yardley to Lambertville (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B-/C+: 13-14mph, 38 miles. Meet at Yardley Town Center shopping parking lot. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Scenic meander through Bucks, Mercer, and Hunterdon Counties, in search of good coffee. The beginning and final segments are on flat River Rd. Before our coffee there is a pizzeria at Mile 20, if riders need a quick bathroom break. Rest stop at Luminary Coffee in Lambertville is at Mile 25. Total climbing 1731 ft, averaging 46 ft/mile. START/FINISH in Yardley: the open parking lot on South Main St, across from the Wawa.     Level D: 9-12mph, 12-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. OWLS(Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride through Fairmount Park and beyond for any one new to biking or after a long layoff from biking. Please wear helmet (required by the club). Bring water, extra tube and tools to repair a flat, proper dress for the weather, and $ for mid ride snack stop. There might be a short session of learning an essential biking skill. There might be a hill or two for physical conditioning, but we will regroup at the top of hills to catch our breathes.

After testing the North access of the Ben last week and it’s 39 steps, we return to the friendly confines of Pennsylvania and Narberth.. Out the SRT to the statue of the much maligned Ulysses S Grant, up into the park , across the Strawberry Mansion Bridge to Chamounix. We’ll then take the Easter Seals Route to BMA to Narberth and GET. Nice easy friendly ride so come on out! Cue sheets will not be available.

This is a belated birthday ride to commemorate Fernando 's 75th birthday which was March 21st. Salem, NJ is just the correct milage to equal his new age. We will raise a glass of champagne in Swedesboro Historic Trinity Episcopal Cemetery, adding 6 oz of orange juice to make a mimosas. Inorder to get over the Ben Franklin Bridge, a train assist ride is Inorder! Lunch at the Salem Oak Diner. We will be home before sunset!     Fri April 7, 2023 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. Upper Dublin High School to Valley Forge National Park/Chapel Cabin for Coffee/Lunch

    Level B-/C+: 13-14mph, 44 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. For April 7: Pretty meander through Montgomery County (West Point, East & West Norriton), eventually turning onto the Schuylkill River Trail. Cross the river on Sullivan's Bridge, then onto the Cabin behind Washington Memorial Chapel at Valley Forge for coffee/snack/lunch at the half-way point. Return via SRT to Haws Lane, then through part of Norristown Farm Park along Stony Creek. If another rest break is needed on the return, we'll be going through Centre Square Park (restrooms) and Wentz Run Park (porta-potty). Total climbing is a modest 2075 ft with no severe climbs, averaging 46 ft/mile. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk, or snow activity. We will cycle out to Glenside via the Cresheim Valley Dr. Then follow the old Reading Line to the Sumatra Café in Wyncote for coffee break. Then to Elkins Park to discover how hilly Ashbourne Rd is so we can connect with New 2nd St Pike and Tookany Creek Parkway back into the city at Cheltenham Ave and finding the entrance to the Tacony Creek Bike Path we roaded two weeks ago!     Level C+: 13mph, 43 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Westward ho out through the Main Line and back through Conshy, with a lunch break at Wegmans in KOP (and the always fun Balligomingo stretch). 2,300 ft over 43 miles could feel challenging this early in the season. Reminders to bring everything you need to fix your own flats, we don't drop if you keep to the stated average pace, and we stay close to the right side of the road and "single up" for passing cars. Let's explore the new connection between the Chester Valley Trail and the Schuylkill River Trail. A C pace but longer than the usual C ride. We will ride through the hilly Main Line to the Malvern Buttery for a lunch stop. Returning downhill to the CVT and a flat return on the CVT and SRT. Approximately 60 miles total and some climbing required outbound. No ride if rain at start or 50 pct more chance of rain during ride.

    Level B+: 13mph, 25 miles. Meet at Pennypack Trail 1750 Byberry Rd · Huntingdon Valley, PA. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. Starting at Byberry Rd. Trailhead, will meander about the Pennypack trail for a couple hours of fun. No rest-stops and route will be around 80% unpaved. Bring your 29er, CX, Gravel or equip your road bike with wider tires as we mashup rides across various asphalt, gravel and sometimes dirt terrains. Expect a good challenge as we grind gravel trails and hit a few climbs with great company for no other purpose than to have fun and put in a few unpaved miles. Ride Level: D thru AX This ride is cross listed with SCU. Please sign up here or there so that we can get a count of riders before we start. No cue sheets will be available but ride leaders generally post their routes on the SCU Meetup or the BCP website. We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.).     Levels A-/B+: 16-17mph, B-: 14-15mph, C+: 13-14mph, C: 12-13mph, 40-42 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Expect good company on safe/low trafficked roads. Today we'll meander around Montgomery and Bucks counties. Expect good company, a relatively short route with easy terrain (no big hills). We'll have a porta-potty stop (mile 14.5) on the way out, and a lunch stop at Central Park, Doylestown (mile 23.5, bathrooms and water available) - bring a sandwich and/or snacks. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to ride the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Please preregister so we can know how many to expect. Bathrooms & water available at all start locations. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels, but likely to reschedule for Wed.). Will make a call at least an hour prior to start time. BCP mereriologist Misty St. Cloud says temperatures in the 70s so let’s head out to the Farmer’s Market, and we’ll enjoy our snack on the sunny patio.We’ll take Sedgley up to the Park, across the Strawberry Mansion Bridge th Chamounix and the Easter Seals route to BMA and Highland.     Level Tandem: 13mph, 32-45 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The tandem ride leaves at 10:00 am. Ride from VFNP-Betzwood, up the PT to Graterford and then on quiet roads to Royersford. Lunch stop in Royersford. From Royersford we have the option to ride west on the new section of the SRT to the US422 bridge. Then return east on the SRT to VFNP. The basic route as shown on the RWGPS link below is 32 miles and with the extension west on the SRT is 45 miles. Bring water and snacks and money for a lunch stop. Will get longer as the sunlight stays with us during the year. There are 2 other rides on Tuesday leaving from this area, one averaging around 20mph at the fountain and another from the Bulldog @ 17-18(both organized by the awesome peeps at Mussette).     Tue April 11, 2023 - BCP Ride Leader Training: Classroom Training

    Meet at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. The event starts at 6:30 pm. Join us for the classroom component of Ride Leader Training, and become a BCP-Certified Ride Leader. 🚴‍♂️ 🚴‍♀️🚴🏿🚴‍♂️🚴🏿‍♀️ 🚴🏻‍♀️🚴🏻🚴🏿🚴🏽‍♀️ The three parts of the training include: 🚴‍♂️1.) a classroom training component, 🚴‍♂️2.) an online component to be completed at your own pace after the classroom training, 🚴‍♂️3.) posting and leading at least one club ride with a current ride leader along as a mentor to certify that you are a good ride leader. 📜 Those who complete the three parts will receive a certificate of completion as a Trained BCP Ride Leader. 🚴‍♂️ 🚴‍♀️🚴🏿🚴‍♂️ Members of other clubs are welcome to participate in the training program, which is free of charge for all participants. Sign-up here and be sure we have your email address. Details of the program will be sent to registered participants. Program topics will include planning and posting rides, leading rides, managing groups, safe ride practices, handling emergencies, dealing with weather issues, becoming familiar with bike laws, and more. A moderately hilly ride conquering Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be ~ 30 miles by July.     Fri April 14, 2023 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. Horsham Library to Plumsteadville for Ice Cream - 5-Star Route by Charlie B.! CO-LEADERS WELCOME

    Level B-/C+: 13-14mph, 46 miles. Meet at Horsham Township Library. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. For April 14: A pretty meander through Montgomery County and Lower Bucks from Horsham to Plumsteadville. Scenic Ice Cream Ride to Chubby's Dairy Barn in Plumsteadville and its' new competitor The Salt Box (pretzels and ice cream). Plus WAWA is in between them! The ride also loops around beautiful Lake Galena. The food stop at Wawa/Chubby's/Salt Box is at Mile 24. On the return, there is a restroom stop at Lake Galena/Peace Valley Park at Mile 31. Total elevation gain is 2310 ft, averaging 49 ft/mile. Most of the elevation is in the middle of the route, and no extreme climbs. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk. We will be cycling past the Devon Horse Show grounds. Home over the Radnor Rail Trail, Conestoga Rd , Old Lancaster Pike and Railroad Ave to Ardmore from where we will take the traditional route back to Philly. Reminders to 1) bring everything you need to fix your own flats, 2) we don't drop if you keep to the stated average pace, and 3) we stay close to the right side of the road and "single up" for passing cars. Tuesday to Baltimore, MD over the Heritage Rail Trail County Park and Torrey C Brown Rail Trail. From there we will take the MARC light rail to Baltimore's Pennsylvania Station to board an AMTRAK Train to Philadelphia that evening. Distance and pace will depend on the riders in our group. (Sunset time will also determine distance.) A moderately hilly ride conquering Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be ~ 30 miles by July.     Fri April 21, 2023 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. Holicong Park in Buckingham to Frenchtown, NJ - 5-Star Route by Charlie B. TWO LEADERS, TWO PACES

    Levels B-/C+: 13-14mph, C: 14-14.5mph, 45 miles. Meet at Holicong Park, Buckingham. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. FOR 4/21: Very pretty and scenic route by Bob S. & Charlie B, based in Bucks County, PA, and Hunterdon County, NJ, in order to cycle in slightly cooler temperatures. (The temperatures forecasted for Doylestown & Frenchtown are a few degrees cooler than the Phila. forecast.) This is a peaceful route leaving from Buckingham. Optional quick stop for bathroom & snack at Mile 9 in Stockton. Lunch stop in Frenchtown at Mile 27. After the lunch stop, we have a 9-mile flat stretch on River Rd/NJ-29. Return to PA via the bridge at Bulls Island. If riders need another brief stop for water/bathroom/snack, the Lumberville Store is at Mile 37. Total climbing 2304 ft, averaging 52 ft/mile. No killer climbs. Most of the climbing is before the lunch stop, then we are up on a fairly level plateau. SELF-CARE NOTE: The afternoon temperature will be in the mid-80's, so please bring two full bottles of fluids, and REHYDRATE frequently. Please also bring SUNBLOCK.     Levels A-/B+: 16-17mph, B/B-: 14-15mph, C+: 13-14mph, C: 12-13mph, 41 miles. Meet at Central Park, Doylestown. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll be riding to Lahaska (Peddlers Village, mile 29) with a rest stop on the way out at Hansell Park ((mile 13.5). The route stops at Mama Hawk's Kitchen & Coffee, but you can choose another lunch venue. Expect good company on safe, very scenic, low trafficked country roads. Overall, not a very hilly route (49 ft./mile), but there will be hills. We'll regroup as needed, but be prepared to maintain the posted pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws.Please preregister so we can know how many to expect. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels, but likely to reschedule for Wed.). Will make a call at least an hour prior to start time.     Level C- through D: 9.5-11.5mph, 12-30 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.     Level C: 12mph Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:15 pm. A true C ride, which cheerfully waits to regroup. Usually 25-35 miles with a lunch or snack stop. Meet at the Italian Fountain, near the parking garage sign. We do not go on the Sunday of the Scenic Schuylkill Century (September 11, 2022).
