Level D: 9-12mph, 24 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 11:00 am. Casual paced ride to the Mummer’s Parade in Philadelphia. We will watch for a short visit, then go to a party at the Cosmic Cafe Foundation. It is free, but guests are invited to donate a little to the core program of the Cosmic Foundation. Please wear helmet(required by the club.) Please bring extra tube and tools to fix a flat, water, $ for extra snack at the parade area, and proper clothes for the weather. There is a train to Conshohocken from 30th street that is leaving at 10 AM arriving at 10:39 at the Station. We will be riding on the Schuylkill River Trail, but depending on the condition of the tow-path, we may go up and over Umbria to bypass the tow path. We will be returning by train from 30th street, which leave at 2:39, 3:39 or 4:39 PM. If you are arriving by train, please let me know.

Level B-/C+: 13-14mph, 26 miles. Meet at Lions Pride Park, 3129 Bradley Rd near Folly Rd, Warrington. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. For Jan. 2: Pretty, but short & quick, 26-mi Bucks County loop for hot coffee/tea/cocoa in Doylestown. Cycle past/through a few parks on our way to D'town. Indoor rest stop for something hot at Mile 15. The return will include part of the 202 Parkway Trail, as well as the Bradford Dam trail. Terrain is mostly gently rolling with one climb. Total elevation 1313 ft, averaging 51 ft/mile. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route. Level B-/C+: 13-14mph, 47 miles. Meet at Central Park in Doylestown - Wells Rd between Turk and Lower State/Court St.. The ride leaves at 9:45 am. Jan. 3: Leader of the 13mph group (LMc) wil be riding her knobby-tire bike, in case there are still some icy patches on some of the roads. Pretty and scenic meander from Bucks County to peaceful Hunterdon County for coffee & lunch. Cycle through New Hope and Lambertville, on our way to Ringoes. Quick rest break if needed in Lambertville ~Mile 14, or at Ringoes Country Deli at Mile 22. Lunch at Covered Bridge Cafe & Market in Sergeantsville at Mile 27. Return from Sergeantsville toward the river via the winding and picturesque Lower Creek Rd. Recross the river to PA at Bulls Island. Level B-/C+: 12.5-14mph, 28 miles. Meet at Blue Bell Hill Park, 842 West Walnut Lane. The ride leaves at 1:00 pm. For Jan. 3: Pretty meander from Blue Bell Park on West Walnut Lane, through Chestnut Hill, Erdenheim, and Flourtown, to Ambler, for a hot coffee & snack break at Weavers Way Co-Op. Return from Ambler via Fort Washington, Oreland, Wyndmoor, then back to Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy. Rolling terrain, with total elevation of 1536 ft, averagin 55 ft/mile. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Sunday afternoon winter ride, for those who have other plans on Sunday morning. Focus is to enjoy some sunshine/fresh air therapy with friends, curb holiday/winter weight gain, and maintain base-level fitness during the off-season, to have an easier transition into early spring rides when March comes around again. Starting points will vary, but usually we will meet close to the Wissahickon. Brief rest stop mid-ride for coffee/restroom/snack break. HELMETS are mandatory. Some climbing of 800 to 1000 feet. First part of ride will generally mean a climb into Fairmount Park, across the Strawberry Mansion Bridge up to Chamounix. When the temperatures soar up into the 40’s - starting about 11 a.m. on Wednesday - we are ready to get back on our bikes for a brunch ride to South Philly. This will be a short ride to limber up after those cold, cold days last week. Heading down the recently re-opened Schuylkill Banks to Gray’s Ferry Crescent, we will ride to a new (coffee, breakfast, and brunch) spot, TWO EAGLES CAFE at 20th and Reed. After warming up over brunch or coffee, we will circle a bit further south before heading over to the Delaware River Trail which will take us to Spring Garden and back to Boat House Row. Level B-/C+: 13-14mph, 46 miles. Meet at Large Town Center parking lot on South Main St, Yardley, PA. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Pretty and scenic loop from charming Yardley, PA (Bucks Co.) to Washington Crossing, then a meander through historic Mercer County, NJ. Stop in the darling town of Hopewell, and stop for coffee/lunch at the popular Boro Bean cafe, at Mile 24. Boro Bean has outdoor tables. From Hopewell, cycle past more green landscapes to Pennington. We'll cross a couple of brooks/creeks. On the return, if another rest break is needed, we can stop in Pennington at Mile 33, or on the PA side of Washington Crossing at Mile 40. The middle portion of the route has some hills, but no killer climbs. The beginning and final stretches on River Rd and River Drive are flat. Total elevation 2144 ft, averaging 46 feet/mile. START/FINISH in Yardley: Large parking lot at 25 South Main St, where Vince's Pizza is located. There is a Wawa with public restrooms across the street. We have not been up to Bread Crumbs Bakery for coffee and a delicious pastry in a long time. The temperatures will be mild Saturday for a ride up the Deleware River Trails and across to Torresdale, through a corner of Pennypack Park, to stop at this favorite, friendly bakery. Let’s see if they still adorn the sidewalk out front with a bicycle in our honor. We will return to Center City via both the Torresdale Bike Lane and the Delaware River Trails back to Penn Treaty Park before splitting off to Spring Garden or Spruce Streets to return home. Shorter-than-usual Friday Frolic route, due to the cold temperature, but still a pretty loop from Horsham Township Library on Babylon Rd in Montgomery County to charming Doylestown in Bucks County, for a hot coffee/snack break, at either Weis Market or Panera. Cross the peaceful Neshaminy Creek. Part of the return route will be on the 202 Parkway Trail. Total elevation gain 1316 ft, averaging a modest 47 ft/mile. On the return, if hikers prefer, we can take a slight detour up to one of the higher trails, rather than Forbidden Drive. SPIKES/ICE CLEATS for your hiking shoes and TREKKING POLES are strongly recommended for safer traction.
