    MTB on the Pennypack Trails

    Level C+/B- MTB the Pine Road entrance to Pennypack Park. The ride leaves at 6:30 pm.

    Ridley Creek State Park

    Level C, 12 mph, 50 miles. In Eakins Oval at the first tree North East city side . The ride leaves at 8:00 am.

    I have not been to Ridley Creek State Park since the early 1990's. So join me in rekindling memories of cycling days past. We will do the full loop around in the the park. We will also see what happenned to the Youth Hostel that was there then. Of course there will be a lunch stop before or after the park. There will be a different route back. Rain cancels ride one hour before to ride start. Bundle up in layers.


    Almost winter riding

    Level C+/B-, 13-14 mph, 40-50 +/- miles. Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:00 am.

    Hike the Wissahickon

    Winter Wimps I, Wegman's .via CVT

    Level C-/C+, 11-13 mph, 22 +/- miles. Wegman' Malvern. The ride leaves at 10:00 am.

    Wegman's, is located at PA29 exit from US202. We start the loop by going E. to Chesterbrook, N. to Yellow Springs Rd., continue SW. to Phoenixville Pike and W. on Swedesford Rd. The finale is our easterly spin on the latest addition to the Chester Valley Trail. It is great, well paved, flat and goes though some nice country directly to our tasty destination, Wegman's. Expect a few hills. No one dropped. Cue sheets provided. Bring a lock, snack, beverage & $. A multi-club ride. In the event of weather concerns, or for directions, contact leaders. You'll learn a bike friendly route to get from Flourtown (Eastern Montco) to the South Jersey seashore.The first leg of the ride (Flourtown,PA to Riverton,NJ) was held on Sat. Nov. 13th. The third leg (Hammonton to Ocean City,NJ) will be held in January 2011.     Delightful, Delicious "D" (and D+/C-) ride, Saturday Edition

    Easy-paced ride for beginners, newcomers to Philadelphia, and/or, anyone seeking a gentle recovery ride. This urban route ("Tour de Philly Neighborhoods") will be mostly flat, as we ride around pretty Fairmount, Northern Liberties, Old City & Society Hill, and other scenic parts. There will be a rest stop -- indoor or outdoor, depending on the weather. Ride is cancelled in the event of precipitation or wet/slick roads, or if temperature is below 30F at start time.     If Friday (Christmas Eve) is a holiday for you, please consider joining us on this pretty walking tour around historic, colonial Philadelphia, replete with old houses of worship of various denominations. The streets of Old City and Society Hill will be decorated. The route can be modified, if the group would like. We will have some opportunities to warm-up indoors, when visiting some of the sites, and we can stop at a cafe or diner for a bite to eat. Please wear supportive walking shoes -- we'll be walking on pavement & occasional cobblestones.

    TIMING IS EVERYTHING, right? IF it is NOT snowing at 9:30am, I will be at the meeting point, if anyone wants to try a short walk. If it is snowing at 9:30, the hike is cancelled. Come burn off some of that heavy holiday dinner and rich desserts and party treats you've eaten recently. From the meeting point, we'll walk a few blocks to access the trail at Crefeld St. near Norman Lane. We will hike some of the upper trails, flat options will be available on the way back. Well-behaved four-legged companions are always welcome. What better way to spend a Sunday morning when it's too cold to ride the roads! Optional lunch stop after the hike -- several nearby places to eat on Germantown Ave.
