    Some days we'll scope out some new routes, and other days ride some familiar favorites. I'm in the mood for a bagel. Hopefully will still be on Tuesday as we'll ride to the Bagel Barrel in Doylestown. Relatively flat to rolling hills. Bring plenty of fluids as it will probably be a hot day.

    Level D/D+/C-, 8-12 mph, 12-25 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 6:10 pm.

    Easy-paced ride for novice cyclists, newcomers to Philadelphia, and/or, anyone seeking a gentle recovery ride. Explore some quiet, pretty, scenic roads in & around Glenside and surrounding townships. Mostly flat-to-rolling terrain, with perhaps a few hills here or there, but we will pedal at a slow pace, and stop to regroup as needed. Please bring lights, in case we return close to dusk. Please note: This ride will take place every Tuesday throughout the summer, EXCEPT for the last Tuesday of the month (6/26, 7/31, 8/28), due to another ride.

    Celebrate the nations 236th birthday with a bike ride! Starting from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington Square, we will follow the original G Dubs training route to Valley Forge. A quick water break in Radnor (on Beaumont Rd) then onto Malvern for lunch. Return from VF will be via the Schuylkill Trail. - I will have an optional hilly ride back to Phila. from VF(tho with no ride leader). Please note: This ride finishes at Lloyd Hall (behind Art Museum)


    Ride to New Hope

    Annual Independence Day ride. Wear your red white and blue and celebrate the holiday with a ride to the Delaware River. Some hills, no killers, regroup as necessary, no cue sheets.     Phoenixville Dog Ride - Independence Day Bakery Ride

    Level B-/C+, 13-15 mph, 47 miles. Mont Clare Dog Park, Longford Rd, Mont Clare, PA. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    This scenic moderately hilly ride travels west to the bakery in St Peters village before returning back to the start. Many beautiful farms and streams and scenic views, with a challenging climb just prior to dropping into St Peters. After a brief stop for refreshments at the bakery, the route returns back to the start on a different route, featuring an extended downhill and more beautiful scenery.

    Due to the predicted heat, PLEASE ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 9:15, SO THAT WE CAN LEAVE BY 9:30. Let's enjoy one of Tom Madle's scenic routes for central Montgomery County. The route will take us through part of Valley Forge Park, then across the Schuylkill River, on our way to the pretty towns of Trappe and Collegeville. Lunch stop in Collegeville @ mile 25. Part of the route will be on the shaded Perkiomen Trail, between Valley Forge and Oaks. This is a PAVED section of the trail -- NO gravel. Original route is 46 miles, but IF riders in the group are interested, there is an option to add ~4-5 miles before the lunch stop. Extension loop includes passing Ott's Nursery, famous for exotic plants. Elevation gain is 3588 ft. Rolling terrain with some brisk climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed.

We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Depending on the destination, starting point may be in Conshohocken, Flourtown, Jenkintown, Wayne, Valley Forge, etc. Please check the daily calendar for each Friday's route.     Buena NJ to Tacony Palmyra Bridge & Philadelphia (Day-Before-the-ACS-Bikeathon Ride)

    Level C/C+/B, 13-16 mph, 42-45+ miles. Gas Station/Dunkin Donuts on North Side of Rte 73, NJ side of Tacony Palmyra Bridge. The ride leaves at 6:15 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    Day Before the ACS Bike-a-thon Ride -- where we cycle back from the ACS Finish Line in Buena NJ. This annual ride has become a tradition & treat, especially for anyone who is riding with a team in the ACS Bike-a-thon on the following day. We will meet in Palmyra, NJ, at the gas station-convenience store immediately past the Tacony Palmyra Bridge. The store will be on your left side after crossing the bridge. We'll drive down to the Buena Vista Camping Park, near Mays Landing, park our cars in the overnight (ACS) section, then cycle back. The distance of 42-45 miles is from Buena Vista to the Tacony Palmyra Bridge, only. We will have one or two rest stops. Terrain is flat, but shade is minimal, so please bring sunblock and plenty of fluids. If you are not registered for the ACS ride on Sunday, but would still like to join us on Saturday, please contact the Leader to arrange car transportation from Palmyra to Buena. If you would like to lead a slower or faster group, please contact the Leader.


    Long Way Through Ambler

    Level B-, 13-15 mph, 45 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 6:25 am.

    It will be VERY HOT on Saturday. This ride will leave at 6:25 AM SHARP so that we can be the heat and arrive in Manyunk before 9:30 for iced coffee. The route will take us through Mt. Airy to Willow Grove Avenue, Church, Station, Brooke, Pennsylvania, Camphill, Bethlem Pike, Fort Washington Ave., Meetinghouse Butler, Stoudt, Tennis, and then through Ambler and into Manyunk. One nourishment/bathroom break before Manyunk. By the end of the ride, we should show an average speed in the 13-15 mph range. Abbreviated cue sheet from Willow Grove Ave. to Barren Hill Road.


    Main Line Cycles Saturday Brisk Ride

    Collegeville and Beyond

    We will leave Appalachian Brewing Company PROMPTLY at 8AM, head for Phoenixville, Kimberton on our way to Pottstown and Pottsgrove, then roll towards Green Lane. We will traverse Spring Mt., head towards Skippack and finally Evansburg, before returning to ABC in Collegeville. There will be a lunch break in Pottstown, and an additional stop in the Schwenksville area. NO ONE WILL BE DROPPED! ABC is located at W. 3rd & Chestnut Sts. Collegeville, near the Post Office.

    As I write this, the forecast is for 100 degrees on Sat.. Join me if you want to ride but take it easy and keep it relatively short. Mostly flat with some rolling hills. Quick water/bathroom stop on the way out, and a stop at Whole Foods (mile 27) on the return. Will regroup as needed - no rider maintaining the advertised pace left behind.


    New Hope & Ivyland Railroad

    Level big b-, 14 mph, 76 miles. Meet at Ft. Washington State Park, Flourtown Picnic Area. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    Cross the RR 11 times passing stations at Rushland, Wycombe, Buckingham (rolling stock photo op??), Lahaska, and New Hope. Extra miles + nasty roads = no Ivyland. Sorry. This is a very THICK "B-" ride, with 1 short (1/4 m) steep (11+%) climb, 1 LONG (3 1/2 m) gradual (2-5%) climb + a whole lotta miles. 2 quick H2O stops out and back with lunch somewhere in New Hope.


    Saturday C+ Ride

    Level C+, 13-14 mph, 40-50 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:15 am.

    Frequently we ride to Ambler, but we may ride to other locations such as North Wales or Devon. We'll keep a steady pace and effort (rolling speed on flat terrain 15-16 mph). Bring money for a snack. A forecast on Friday at 9:00 pm calling for 50% or greater chance of rain on Saturday between 8:00 am and noon, or wet roads on Saturday at 8:00 am, will cancel the ride. We will be heading out towards the Skippack area on familiar roads. 35 mile loop of scenic rolling terrain with no big climbs (unless you consider Bean a big climb). We will take a quick water stop at Fishers Park about 1/2 way through; bring plenty of water/electrolytes until then. We will keep a steady pace and return well before lunchtime. Rain cancels. After heading down the Kelly Drive Bike path, we will climb familiar hills of the MainLine including "LaColina", Flat Rock (Ha! anything but), Rose Glen, Lafayette. Will then come into Conshy and head toward Harts Lane and finally over into Chestnut Hill for the final climb up Montogomery. We will maintain a steady pace with minimal regrouping.     In a seashore state of mind? This is a scenic route to the central Jersey shore, popular with the Princeton FreeWheelers. In addition to cycling along Ocean Drive in the pretty seaside towns of Spring Lake and Belmar, we’ll also ride around Perrineville Lake, Manasquan Reservoir, and Lake Como. Lunch stop at Belmar Beach at mile 40, plus rest stops along the way, to and from Belmar. The middle of the route (near the beach) is flat. The beginning and end portions have rolling hills, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total elevation gain is 2265 ft. Directions to the starting point at Etra Lake Park: 1) New Jersey Turnpike North to Exit 8 – Hightstown/Freehold. 2) From the Turnpike exit ramp, turn right onto NJ-33 East/Franklin St. 3) In 0.6 miles, turn right onto Milford Rd. 4) In 1.1 miles, turn left at “T” at County Rd 571/Etra- Perrineville Rd.     Nice ride on mostly quiet, shady roads to Alpha in Waren County where we will grab some eats and dine al fresco in a park at mile 32. Lots of ups and downs on the way out, but nothing too long. Pace will be slower than usual as I work to regain my strength, stamina anf form.You are welcome to ride ahead if you so desire. Please arrive at least 15 min. prior to the start time as I will leave on time.
