    Gently paced post-work evening ride, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Pedal away the stresses of your work day at a relaxed pace. We'll be meeting in the same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". We'll start by riding on the Schuylkill River Trail in March. As riders get stronger, we can turn off the SRT and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. PLEASE NOTE: Regular Leader for the Thursday Evening D ride (Linda McGrane) is driving up to Danville tonight, in preparation for the BCP Spring Weekend (Fri-Sun); George Yarnell has graciously offered to lead tonight's ride.     Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Depending on the destination, starting point may be in Conshohocken, Flourtown, Jenkintown, Wayne, Valley Forge, etc. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year, with a few exceptions here & there. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.


    Annual Spring-n2-Cycling Weekend, Friday, 5/3 to Sunday, 5/5 (3-day package)

    BCP's annual Spring Weekend in Danville, PA. Danville lies on the Susquehanna River, between the charming college towns of Lewisburg and Bloomsburg. Between towns and quaint villages, treat yourself to scenic cycling on pristine country roads, crossing covered bridges here and there. Cyclists of ALL levels are warmly welcome. This 3-day weekend is an all-inclusive package: Friday and Saturday nights at the Quality Inn of Danville, Friday and Saturday dinners, Saturday and Sunday breakfasts, snacks and sandwiches to take along with you on rides, parties, tour packets with cue sheets & maps for guests, group rides with leaders, wide variety of route distances and speeds for cylists of all levels of ability. For cyclists traveling with non-cyclist partners, there are plenty of other attractions, as well, e.g., Danville's Spring Fling outdoor fair on Saturday, May 4.     Stretch the legs after the long drive from Phila. with your first ride of the Spring Weekend event in Danville. With no food stops (quick bathroom break in Milton SP) and only 1900' of climbing, we should be able to complete this route in under two hours. Plenty of time to clean up for the evening festivities at the hotel.

    Great roads with low traffic. Narberth through Bryn Mawr and out to Waynesborough Country Club. South to Goshen Road and back through Villanova (and Gladwyne if the group wants more hills). No one gets dropped. Speed determined by the group. Bring a snack for brief mid-ride break. Rain cancels Leave at 8:05AM. Back by 11:00.


    Rio Negro

    Level B-, 13.3 mph, 71 miles. CVS parking lot at the corner of Cherry & NJ 29 in Lambertville, NJ. The ride leaves at 8:45 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    We’ll start on the New York ride route and then branch off though more pretty country until we hit the Oldwick General Store, a popular stop for area group rides that has a nice outdoor seating area, at mile 34. Return via Round Valley reservoir and Lower Creek Rd.. No other planned stops because there really isn’t anywhere else to stop, so bring Gu, Cliff Bars, etc. About 4,400’ of climbing, nearly all of which will be over by mile 59. Going for distance, not speed, so no bandits allowed. Periodic regrouping. The ride will start on time so plan your arrival accordingly. Please bring a cue sheet holder.


    Fort Mifflin/ Phila International Airport

    Level D, 10 mph, 30 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Let's ride down to Fort Mifflin and around the Phila.International Airport. A grimy city ride to areas of the city one does not usually cycle to.


    Wynnewood to Malvern: Bob's Tomatoe Pie Ride

    Level B- , 13-15 mph, 43 miles. Meet at Wynnewood Valley Park. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will be available.

    We'll ride from the Main Line area to Malvern where we'll have a sit-down lunch at Malvern Pizza. A few hills heading out and coming back to the Main Line with rolling terrain in between.     Saturday combined B/B+ and B- ride from the Art Museum

    This week we will be going through the Main Line to Valley Forge and returning to Wegman's in King of Prussia for an outdoor lunch at mile 27. We will have 2 groups, B/B+ (Scott Johnson) and B-(Joe Lubeck). Expect about 3000 in climbing, most on the way out but nothing terribly extreme unless the B group decides to add on some additonal hills. Arrive by 9 for a prompt 9:10 start.


    Saturday C/C+ Ride

    Level C/C+, 13-14 mph, 40-50 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:15 am.

    Frequently we ride the Ambler ride. We'll keep a steady pace and effort but, as necessary, will wait to regroup. There will be some hills to climb on the ride and in order for the average speed to be 13-14 mph sometimes we will be going faster than 14 mph. Bring money for a snack.     Sunday Morning Ride Down a 4-Lane 10-mile Bicycle Superhighway!

    Level C+, 13 mph, 30 miles. 39 Lanfair Rd, Cheltenham Pa. The ride leaves at 7:15 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    This 30-mile ride will leave at 7:15am (about 3 miles from the starting line) and head over to the start of the Broad Street Run in the Olney section of Philadelphia. Broad Street is closed to traffic about an hour before the race leaving cyclists a 10 mile long 4-lane car-free bicycle paradise! When the race begins at 8:30 we can watch some world-class runners race down Broad Street. We will be back no later than noon. C+ pace (about 13 mph), no one dropped. We will be stopping now and then to watch the runners, take bathroom breaks (plenty of porta-potties along the route!), maybe get a bite to eat. Speed demons can feel free to race ahead. The route is pretty simple - a 10-mile straight line down Broad Street ending at the Navy Yard. INCREASED SECURITY WILL BE IN PLACE, SO DON'T BRING ANY BACKPACKS OR SADDLEBAGS.     Sunny Sunday Afternoon D Ride

    Short, low-key ride for those new to group riding or seeking to improve fitness. Route is generally in the Fairmount Park area. Ride will regroup as needed and no one is left behind.     Sunday C Spin Off

    Level C, 12.5 to 13 mph, 32+ miles. Meet at Whites Road Park between Broad St and Valley Forge Rd, Lansdale. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    So, just how many Panera Bread cafes ARE there? Enough for cyclists to explore all over the Phila. region. Today's ride from Flourtown to the Panera in Broomall will take us through Chestnut Hill & East Falls, Bala Cynwyd, Haverford and Havertown. After lunch, we'll return via Villanova and Conshohocken. Rolling terrain with some steep climbs (including Neill Drive after crossing Falls Bridge), but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total elevation gain 3893 ft. Quick water stop at mile 19 and sit-down lunch stop at mile 30. On our return, we have an optional quick Wawa stop if needed in West Conshohocken at mile 42.

    Scenic loop mainly through Montgomery County, with a little bit of Chester County for good measure. In addition to the Schuylkill River, we'll cross the Perkiomen Creek a couple of times, as well as a few small creeks. Indoor, sit-down rest stop at the comfortable and bike-friendly Java's Brewin' bakery & café in Limerick at mile 31. If additional quick bathroom breaks are needed, we can stop in Phoenixville (mile 11 outbound, mile 40 return). The initial and final stretches of this route are mainly flat, along the SRT.     Mr. Belvidere Redux

    THE RIDE IS ON. Ride outside the box through some of the prettiest (and most traffic-free) parts of Hunterdon and Warren Counties. Climb up to the Hunterdon Plateau, skirt Spruce Run, cruise the wooded Columbia Trail over the Ken Lockwood Gorge and ride past the beautiful spreads nestled in the Jersey Alps on the way to a sweet descent to lunch in Belividere, with its Victorian homes, at mile 42. Our way back down the river will follow the route of the old Bel Del Railroad through Foul Rift, Harmony Station, Phillipsburg, Carpentersville and Milford. About 5,200' of total climbing, with most (but not all) of that coming before lunch. Only one additional water stop is planned (another may be added if conditions warrant) so bring Gu, Cliff Bars or whatever gets you through. Periodic regrouping at key locations. Bad weather, including rain or excessive heat, cancels. Check this listing for a go/no-go message after 6:30 a.m. the day of. This ride will start on time so arrive at least 15 min. before the scheduled start time. I guarantee this ride is worth the early wake-up.

    Delaware Valley Bike Club hosts its annual Bonkers Metric ride, leaving from Ridley Creek State Park. Yours truly would like to cycle the 65-mile route (although other distances are offered - 18, 35, and 50 miles). Pretty, peaceful territory for cycling, quiet roads and mostly rolling hills. There are some brisk climbs near Media. Rest stops, SAG, and road markings are provided. There is an admission fee for this event ride. Ride begins at 8am for the 65- and 50-mile riders.     Ever wonder where to pick up the Schuylkill River Trail on the other side of Phoenixville, PA? Let's find out. We did miss it last year on the way out but coming back we found it so we will find it again on the way out this time. For those in CC Philly, this can be a train assist bike ride, catching SEPTA's Manayunk Norristown Local, Saturday's scheduled train to the Main St station in Norristown, (7:26 30th St, 7:31 Suburban Station, 7:36 Market East) Others can meet us at the McDonald's across the street from the Main Street train station before 8:30 am. This is an all day ride due to the 85 miles round trip. Going to Reading and back, stopping for lunch in Reading. The trail will actually go all the way to Pottsville not to be confused with Pottstown which we will pass thru! Truly flat but long milage. Challenge yourself early in the season!

    Two paces for a fun start to the holiday weekend. Howard Hochheiser will lead a 14-15 group. Howard Haber will lead a 16-17 group. We'll cruise through Ambler with short bursts through the Gwynedd Mercy campus and Lansdale. Lovely scenery and rolling hills through Worcester Golf Club and Skippack Golf Club as we wind through Evansburg State Park. Visitation Road provides a screaming downhill before we climb Eagleville Road. Cider Mill provides both an uphill and downhill before we enjoy the beauty of Arcola Road. Wegmans in Collegeville is our rest stop for indoor bathrooms, tasty snack and with nice weather from the cycling gods we’ll take advantage of the outdoor seating. Return along Arcola and gentle climbing of Barrington before another trip through Evansburg. We’ll make our way behind Merrymead Farm and enjoy a nice downhill on South Penn Oak before the last few miles back to UDHS. Bring smiles and a positive attitude. Wear your patriotic gear.     Let's take a long bike ride to go swimming, Lake Atsion, NJ. The water is brown because of the iron in the sandy soil around. This is the upper end of the Pine Barrens and NJ Wharton State Forrest. There is swimming in the lake and there is a concession stand for food and snacks but always bring granola bars to munch along the way. There will be a coffee stop too. There maybe an admission fee but in past years bicyclist and walkers got in free. There is a shower and changing room so bring a beach towel and swim suit or a second pair of riding shorts for the ride home. All day ride, back around 7pm.


    Memorial Day Mix 'n Match

    Friday Frolic w/Linda -- Art Museum to Linvilla Orchards -- SPECIAL MEETING POINT & TIME

    Scenic ride from Center City into Delaware County, to Linvilla Orchards Farm Market, south of Media. Outbound via Merion and Wynnewood, return via Swarthmore and Springfield. Sit-down lunch stop at Linvilla Orchard at mile 23. Optional quick rest stops at mile 15 and mile 41. Rolling terrain with some brisk climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total climbing is 3243 ft. The middle section of the route includes a pretty, peaceful, and relatively flat section along Creek Rd. PLEASE NOTE: due to an early morning conference, Leader is starting this ride slightly later than usual, at 10:15am. Parking is available on Sedgeley Drive, on the other side of Kelly Drive, across from Waterworks Drive and Lloyd Hall. Rest rooms are available at Lloyd Hall.
