    Easter Sunday Morning Ramble - UDHS to Doylestown - TWO LEADERS, TWO PACES

    Levels B: 15mph, B-: 14mph, 45 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is UDHS to Doylestown for Easter Sunday Morning.

    Pretty loop from Upper Dublin High School to Doylestown, with two QUICK rest stops for snacks & bathroom. Along the way, we'll ride through Horsham and Warrington, Jamison, New Britain, and Springhouse. We'll cross the picturesque Neshaminy Creek on Dark Hollow Rd. Quick rest stops - Wawa at mile 17 in Jamison, and Weis Market in Doylestown at mile 28. (Please note: the Del Val College Market is closed for Easter Sunday.) Terrain is rolling - total climbing is 2236 ft - nothing severe. Please assemble by 8:45, so that we can leave promptly at 9:00am. Plan is to return by 1:00-1:15pm, in order to enjoy holiday festivities with loved ones this afternoon. Optional Preregistration has been set up here for your convenience. Preregistration is not required, BUT, it DOES save you writing time at the starting point, and, it helps your Co-Leaders by ensuring that your contact info is printed legibly.     Level D: 8-16mph, 10 to 15 miles. Meet at Kayuh Bicycles & Cafe 19th St. & Girard Ave. The ride leaves at 11:00 am.

    Sunny Sunday D Ride

    Level D: 9mph, 14-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride through Fairmount Park and beyond. Distance will be determined after evaluating the assembled group. Please wear helmet(required by club rules. Bring water, $ for mid ride rest stop, extra tube, and water. Ride will be fairly flat, but a hill might be thrown into the ride to increase fitness. No one will be dropped. If we attempt a hill, walking the rest of the way to the top will be allowed. Breathing time before continuing will allow recovery. Bring smiles!

    Level A through D: 8-20mph, 13-45 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    Multi-level ride group with 7 different paced groups ( D, C, C+, B-, B, B+, and A). The 7 groups range from a slow D level "hybrid / road" group that rides no more than 15 miles at 8-11 mph pace up to our fastest pace "A" ride group that rides at 18-20 mph and anywhere between 20 and 50 miles depending on sunset times.     Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll ride to Del Val College Farm Market, a relatively easy ride (no big hills) on mostly back roads and paved trails. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace.     The day/night Phoenixville dog ride continues through the month of April. We start riding in the daylight and continue after sunset with headlights and taillights. A strong headlight and taillight are required. Rolling to hilly rides on low-traffic roads. Regroup as necessary.     "Gear Up for Spring" Seminar & Social Meeting (RESCHEDULED from 3/21, due to the snow)

    Level B-: 14mph Meet at NoBA Community Workspace, 210 Bala Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA. The ride leaves at 6:30 pm.

    BCP is please to host this seminar, to help our members enjoy the return to early spring bike rides, with more comfort, energy-efficiency, and good mechanical performance from our bikes. A physical therapist (Kira Sender, DPT) will present "spring training" exercises to maximize physical fitness and stamina, with less fatigue. A bike mechanic will present spring cleaning & tune-up essentials for our bikes to maximize performance and energy-effiiciency. The mechanic will also display accessories which are helpful for the fickle weather in spring, when it's cool in the morning, but warm in the afternoon. "Happy Half-Hour" begins at 6:30pm for refreshments and socializing, and the program begins at 7:00. There will be a brief intermission between presentations for refreshments and socializing. PARKING is available across the street in the municipal garage. Parking is FREE after 6:00pm. PUBLIC TRANSIT: The venue is one block from the Cynwyd train station. Septa buses 44 and 52 run along Bala Ave, in front of the venue. VOLUNTEERS are NEEDED to help with set-up (5:45), and with clean-up at the end of the program.     Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Levels B: 15mph, B-/C+: 14mph, 25 -35 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 5:45 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. This year we will have 2 different paced groups. Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 - 14.5 mph

    D riders , get ready for Summer cycling by going a little bit farther, a little bit faster with a little bit more confidence and skill on this progressive series D rides on each Saturday of April. Cycle each Saturday over the Schuylkill River Trail to Conshohocken, 25 mile , Bridgeport, 35 miles, Valley Forge, 45 miles, and Phoenixville, 55 miles! Do everyone and the leader will treat you to a beverage at the Steel City Cafe ! This week's progressive D ride is to Conshohocken.


    Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride

    Please join us as we revisit Toleration and Mom Rinkers Rock. This hike is similar to the hike we did 3 weeks ago, but we will reach Toleration starting on the west side of the creek this time. Jim and I have been learning a lot about the statue and the rock it stands upon and we'll share it with you. A few of the trails are still muddy so wear appropriate shoes or boots. While the full length of the hike is close to 8 miles. there are shorter and flatter options available for the way back. Well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.


    Lansdale to Ottsville Whole Foods CO-LEADER WELCOME

    Level B-: 14mph, 54 miles. Meet at Pavilion Shoping Center in Lansdale, on Broad St. between Whites Rd & Hancock St.. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/11651537.

    Scenic loop from Lansdale to the Kimberton Whole Foods Market in Ottsville, Bucks County. Outbound via Hatfield and Perkasie, return via Plumsteadville, Peace Valley Park, and Colmar. Brief rest stop for snack and bathroom at mile 19 in Pennridge. Lunch stop at Kimberton Whole Foods in Ottsville at mile 29. On the return, if another water stop is needed, we pass a Wawa at mile 49. Total elevation gain is 2529 feet. Please click on the route map link below to preview the elevation profile - there is a significant climb in the beginning, and one at the end. The middle of the route is mostly rolling. We will regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain the advertised pace.     Prediction Race

    Level all levels, 8-40 mph, 8.3 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 10:00 am.

    So you think that you are a fast rider or know that you are slow, but in this event you speed does not determine the winner. A course is planned to start at the Azalea Garden behind the Philadelphia Art Museum. The racers of all categories predict the time it will take them to complete the loop around MLK Drive and Kelly Drive. It doesn’t matter how fast you go, but how close to your predicted time it takes to complete the course. No watches, bike computers, or any other device will be allowed that will give you a clue to time and speed. Starting time is 10:00 AM with registration starting at 9:30. There will be a preregistration event sign-in on the web site. This event will be for no more than 30 predictors. There will be a $5 registration fee with 50% of this fee going to a biking related charity. The remainder will be divided by a 3/2/1 ratio for prizes to the closest predictors. If you don't feel like riding you can come to cheer the riders. Please look for further info on the web site in mid to late march. .

A snack is strongly recommended, as we may not stop for food. Safety and equipment instruction provided as needed. Rain one hour prior to start, cancels.

    Riding with Leon is becoming a regular thing. The real meaning of this ride is that it meets 10 am. We will go clockwise to the River Wards Coffee Shop in Port Richmond, meaning the route will go out the Kelly Dr bike trail to the Western end of W Allegheny Ave. Then East to the Eastern end of Allegheny Ave at Richmond St. This is a true city ride.

    Scenic route from Doylestown through Upper Bucks County, into Hunterdon County, NJ, on [mostly] peaceful and pretty country roads, passing lovely country homes & farms. Outbound via Buckingham, Lahaska, and Ringoes, returning via Stockton, Bulls Island, and Carversville. Before crossing the river into NJ, we have an optional quick Wawa stop at mile 17. Indoor rest stop at the Carousel Deli in Ringoes at mile 26. On the return, we will be in Carversville at mile 45 - we can stop at the Carversville Store if needed for a bathroom/snack break. Total elevation gain is 2461 feet - rolling, but nothing too steep. We will stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain 13mph average, as advertised. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions.     Scenic loop from Ft. Washington State Park HAWK WATCH parking lot, to Bucks County - peaceful Tyler State Park and the charming (and historic) borough of Newtown, crossing the Neshaminy Creek. (Newtown was founded by William Penn in 1684.) Lunch stop at an indoor food court at mile 24. On the return, we'll cross scenic Springfield Lake in Churchville. At mile 39, there is a mega-Wawa, if another rest stop is needed. Total climbing is 2508 feet - not too strenuous. This is a picturesque route in Bucks County, as well as Hunterdon County, NJ, from Langhorne, to Yardley, Washington Crossing, Titusville and Lambertville in NJ, then returning to Washington Crossing and Langhorne. Mostly rolling terrain with some nice, flat stretches along the river. A couple of brisk climbs before the lunch stop, but nothing too steep. Total elevation gain is 2568 ft. Quick snack/rest stop in Washington Crossing at mile 15. Lunch stop in Lambertville at a coffee shop/roastery at mile 32. DRIVING DIRECTIONS: to Cairn University from Philadelphia, heading north to Langhorne: Take US-1 North, and go beyond the Neshaminy Mall. Stay straight on the US-1 North expressway toward Morrisville. Take the exit for Bellevue Ave/PA-413 -- this is a right-lane exit and a right turn onto Bellevue. From Bellevue, in 0.6 mi, turn left onto MANOR Ave. You will see signs for Cairn University. Make a soft left turn onto University Drive (look for the red & white "Welcome" banner).     A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 miles by July.     Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 3 paces (17-18 mph in addition to the 2 listed paces) on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Distance will vary with the pace and available daylight. Please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels), and if a certain pace is not available.

    For April 27: Easy route from Valley Forge to Exton on the flat Chester Valley Trail, with a snack break at the half-way point at Starbucks. Depending on the group, we can return via roads instead of the trail. Leader has to be back by early afternoon, in order to assist at the Face of America event ride this weekend. (Face of America leaves from Valley Forge.) GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Many hills, including 12 (or so) relatively long ones. One 30-minute coffee stop in Devon (Pour Richards) at mile 26 or so. (It's all about the coffee.) Will regroup at top of long hills as needed, but riders are expected to achieve advertised pace (which is what our computers read as "average" at the finish).
