    BCP's Monthly Newsletter Mailing Party is tonight (Wednesday), instead of Tuesday. Pedal from Spring Mill downtown via the SRT to Center City, to help Tom Witt and his crew prepare the August newsletter for mailing. Light refreshments will be served. Our bikes will be parked outside, so PLEASE bring a LOCK. Also, please have LIGHTS for the return trip.


    Flourtown Multi-Level Rides, Every Wednesday April Thru September

    Level A- through C+: 13-18mph, 15-40 miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    Phoenixville Dog Ride, B-/C+, 13.5-14.5

    Level C+: 13.5mph, 20-35 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    The daylight Phoenixville dog rides begin in May and continue through September. Rolling to hilly rides on low-traffic roads. Regroup as necessary. No one dropped, but please be prepared to ride the posted speed on rolling to hilly terrain. On the last Wednesday of each month, we will have a day/night ride. We start riding in the daylight and continue after sunset with headlights and taillights. A strong headlight and taillight are required. On the last Wednesday in June, we will ride a metric century.


    Weekly Flourtown A- Ride

    Level A-: 18-20mph, 25-45 miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Weekly ride where the route will change every week (i.e., hilly, flat or rolling). Distance will increase as we get more day light (and decreases accordingly). Please bring LIGHTS for use at dusk. Note that this is a relatively fast ride so be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace.     We will ride west on the SRT , make a Loop in Valley Forge Park, then continue west to Phoenixville for coffee and snack break.. we will then ride to the end of the pavement on the Perkiomen Trail before returning to Conshy. Opportunity for some intervals or sprints on the flat trail . No drops but should be able to ride posted pace (it’s flat!) . Bring water ,snacks and helmet. Check back for weather related changes,


    Thursday Evenings from North Penn High School

    Level B-/C+: 13-15mph, Sunlight determines miles. Meet at North Penn High School. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    The ride will depart from North Penn High School - meet behind the school near the bus depot at 6:00 pm. Ride Level: C+/B-, Speed: 13-15 mph. We will meet at 6pm every Thursday evening through the end of September. The rides will begin the season at 13-14mph and increase to occasional 15-16mph rides as the season slowly progresses. The riding distance is determined by the amount of sunlight. Come on out and discover new roads and routes. We never repeat a route during a single season. Cue sheets will not be available.


    Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Levels B: 15mph, B-/C+: 14mph, 25 -35 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. This year we will have 2 different paced groups. Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph


    Delightful, Delicious "D" (and D+/C-) Ride, Thursday evening Edition

    Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-30 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the stresses of the workday, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride - relaxed pace. Meet in same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". Start by riding on the Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, the Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill with Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we return close to dark.


    Conshohocken Multi-Level Rides

    Levels B: 14-16mph, C+: 13-14mph, 20-30+ miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 3 paces (13-14, 14-16, 17-18) on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Distance will vary with the pace and available daylight. Please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels), and if a certain pace is not available.


    "C"vilized Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Level C: 12mph, 25 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 6:01 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Friday Afternoon Frolic w/Linda. Montco Meander from UDHS at 12:30

    Level B-: 14mph, 35-40 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 12:30 pm. Cue sheets will be available.

    For 8/3: Leader has to work in the morning, so this will be an afternoon ride. Montgomery County loop leaving from UDHS, with a Wawa rest stop. Plan is to return before 4:00pm, since Leader is organizing the BCP display tent at the Friday Night Races at the Velodrome in Trexlertown tonight. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

    SEVENTY PREVENT CHANCE OF RAIN FROM 7 TO 9 CANCELLES THE RIDE. Ride the beautiful buttery smoothness of Goshen Road! Ride leaves promptly at 7:00 AM so that we're back before 11am!! Riders doing the listed pace will not be dropped (riders failing to keep pace at City Ave are encouraged to break off). Regroups are as needed, but there are no advertised stops. Where possible we will paceline. Please pre-register, no worries if you change your mind later. 50% chance of rain between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM cancels the ride.


    Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride

    Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing. Bring a snack for a brief mid-ride break. Consider the on-line routes approximate. Leave by 8:05 AM. Rain cancels.

    Level C+: 12-14mph, 45-60 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:15 am.

We will regroup as necessary and wait at turns within ride level expectations. YOU MUST CARRY A SPARE TUBE. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.     Consider this the next step up from the Toss of the DIce "C+", further (50 - 70 miles) and with more hills (3000 - 5000). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. This week we are riding out to Valley Forge via White Horse Farms and Devon. There will be a snack break at Devon Donut & Bagel Co. Total gain is 3600 ft. There is an optional end of drink at Parks on Top at the Mount Pleasant Mansion.We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.

    Scenic tour of rural Burlington County's farm and orchard country, based on/adapted from the Spellbound Century event ride held in late July. Very pretty and peaceful landscapes, crossing a creek or two. Terrain is gently rolling, with total elevation gain of 2000 ft. Dunkin' Donuts at Mile 18, farmer's market/orchard stops at mile 26 & 48, & 69. Driving Directions from Palmyra, NJ (Tacony-Palmyra Bridge): NJ-73 East > US-130 North > Right onto Creek Rd > Left onto Marne Highway > Cross over 295 & NJ Turnpike > Left onto Deacon Rd to the park.     Level A through D: 8-20mph, 13-45 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm.

    Multi-level ride group with 7 different paced groups ( D, C, C+, B-, B, B+, and A). The 7 groups range from a slow D level "hybrid / road" group that rides no more than 15 miles at 8-11 mph pace up to our fastest pace "A" ride group that rides at 18-20 mph and anywhere between 20 and 50 miles depending on sunset times. We ride every Monday April thru September except when a Monday falls on a holiday. Rain cancels the rides. See a description of each individual ride group on the daily calendar.

    Ride Yer Bike Tuesday

    Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll do an easy ride due to the heat - lunch at Del Val Farm Market (with quick pit stop on the way out). Expect a pretty tame route for the area: flat to rolling terrain (no big climbs), low traffic and good company. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels). NOTE: THE LAST RIDE OF THE MONTH STARTS FROM CENTRAL PARK, DOYLESTOWN.     Bulldog ride

    Rose Tree Park in Media to Hoopes Reservoir & Centreville, DE for lunch. Pretty and scenic route through the Brandywine Valley, on peaceful roads which are popular with the Delaware Valley and White Clay Bike Clubs. Venture through Ridley Creek State Park, circle around Hoopes Reservoir, cross the Brandywine Creek a couple of times, and pass the Tyler Arboretum. On the outbound, there is a quick Wawa break at mile 12. Lunch at the Centreville Cafe is at mile 32. On the return, there is a Wawa stop if needed at mile 40. Rolling hills with a couple of brisk climbs, but a couple of flat stretches along Creek Rd, also. Total elevation gain 3689 feet. Earlier start time today (9:00am) - need to be back before 3:00pm. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. BCP will have a display tent in the plaza of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (aka, the Velodrome) in Trexlertown, during the Friday Night Races, sponsored by Bicycling Magazine. Gates open for Happy Hour at 6:00pm, but the ACTUAL RACES DO NOT BEGIN UNTIL 7:30pm, allowing you plenty of time to get there after work. BCP will be exhibiting here to promote our club's membership benefits & perks, as well as rides and upcoming events.     Consider this the next step up from the Toss of the DIce "C+", further (50 - 70 miles) and with more hills (3000 - 5000). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. This week a short ride to try and avoid rain. regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, a spare tube, and two large water bottles. Please note that the RideWithGPS route lists a different start - but we will start at the usual place (Azalea Garden entrance behind the Art Museum). Optional after-ride drinks at the Oval.     STARTING POINT was CHANGED (to the high school), AS OF 9:00PM, 8/11. Pretty loop with rolling hills from Alexis DuPont High School in Greenville, DE (north Wilmington), near the Brandywine Creek, west to the picturesque Hoopes Reservoir, then, north into lovely & green Chester County. PA. Some of the Potomac Pedalers are visiting the Brandywine/Longwood Gardens area this weekend, so this route will showcase some scenic roads. Cycle on Creek Rd, past Chadds Ford and Pocopson. Food stop at Northbrook Marketplace at mile 21. On the return, we'll pass the borders of Longwood Gardens and Winterthur, and return to Greenville on peaceful, green roads. Total elevation gain is 1978 ft of climbing. Plan is to return by 12 Noon.

    This route was created by Mike Krizauskas of SCU, BCP and the Jersey Shore Cycle Club. Today's starting point will be Luray Manor, the meeting point for SCU's week-long Ocean City event. "DAY-TRIPPERS" are warmly welcome to join us for this Friday ride -- it is NOT necessary to register for the whole week or weekend package. We'll ride from Ocean City to Mays Landing and Tuckahoe, then circle back to O.C. on quiet roads. Nice views of the river near Mays Landing. We have a Wawa stop in Mays Landing at mile 21, then a rest stop in Tuckahoe at mile 34. Terrain is FLAT (674 ft elevation for the whole route), although we may have some headwinds. Please bring sunblock with you. If you are driving to Ocean City on Friday morning for this ride, please allow at least 75 mins drive time, due to normal weekday commuter traffic. If you feel out of your element by Falls Bridge, you should look for a ride with more brevity. But that's just like, my opinion, man.

    Consider this the next step up from the Toss of the DIce "C+", further (50 - 70 miles) and with more hills (3000 - 5000). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.0 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. This week we will ride to Delaware via Swarthmore & return via Ridley Creek State Park. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, 2 water bottles, as well as a spare tube. Optional after ride drinks at Parks on Tap, Lemmon Hill. Check daily listing for route information.     Pretty loop from Upper Dublin High School to Tabora's in Chalfont for lunch, as well as some creamy, frozen refreshment. Cue sheets will be provided. Total elevation gain is 2755 feet, no extreme climbing. Please click on the route map link to view the elevation profile. The lunch & ice cream stop at Tabora's is at mile 23. On the outbound, there are places to take a quick bathroom/snack break at mile 16. After lunch at Tabora's, we'll cycle around the perimeter of peaceful Lake Galena. On the return, there are optional Wawa stops if needed, at mile 38 (Colmar), or 44 (North Wales). GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can explore different regions. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Ride through Belmont, Wynwood, Havertown, Merion, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, Radnor, Devon, Wayne, Gulph Mills, Conshohocken, Manayunk, etc., returning via Manayunk Bridge and Bala Cynwyd. Many hills, including 12 (or so) relatively long ones. One 30-minute coffee stop in Devon (Pour Richards) at mile 26 or so. (It's all about the coffee.) Will regroup at top of long hills as needed, but riders are expected to achieve advertised pace (which is what our computers read as "average" at the finish).     OWls (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride training ride to Betzwood in Valley Forge. This is a longer distance ride than a typical D ride along the SRT. We will stop in either Conshohocken or Norristown for a refueling stop and maybe a yogurt stop in Manayunk. Please bring helmet (required by club), water, sunscreen, $ for mid-ride refueling stop. We will try to keep a 10-13 mile/hr pace on the level areas. There will periodic stops to regroup. The weather promises to be nice. It will help conditioning for the O’dell Ride and the Scenic Schuylkill Century. 0

The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.

    Riding New Jersey scenic country roads along rivers,creeks and mountains to Raritan. Water stops in Richboro(26mi), Warrington(122mi), Hopewell(56mi) and New Hope(100mi). Longer food stop at Italian Bakery in Raritan. About 8000ft of elevation gain. Mostly rolling with a climb up Sourland Mtn. on the way out to Raritan. Flatter ride in valley on return back to Philly.

We will return on a slightly more northern route, passing Chanticleer Gardens, but avoiding Skunk Hollow Park. Total elevation gain will be ~ 3,800 ft. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride the listed group pace. (This the average speed that a bike computer shows at the end of a ride.) Bring a couple of water bottles, spare tube, and money for lunch.

The 7 groups range from a slow D level "hybrid / road" group that rides no more than 15 miles at 8-11 mph pace up to our fastest pace "A" ride group that rides at 18-20 mph and anywhere between 20 and 50 miles depending on sunset times.     The daylight Phoenixville dog rides begin in May and continue through September. Rolling to hilly rides on low-traffic roads. Regroup as necessary. We start riding in the daylight and continue after sunset with headlights and taillights. A strong headlight and taillight are required. On the last Wednesday in June, we will ride a metric century.

Meet in same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". Start by riding on the Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, the Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill with Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we return close to dark.


    Conshohocken Multi-Level Rides

    Levels B: 14-16mph, C+: 13-14mph, 20-30+ miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 2 paces (13-14, 14-16,) on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws.     Thursday Night Hill Ride

    A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. This year we will have 2 different paced groups. Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph

    Friday Afternoon Frolic - UDHS to Jamison and Doylestown

    Level B-: 14mph, 45 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 12:45 pm. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is UDHS to Doylestown for Easter Sunday Morning.

    Leader has to work in the morning, so this will be an afternoon ride. Pretty loop from Upper Dublin High School to Doylestown, with two QUICK rest stops for snacks & bathroom. Along the way, we'll ride through Horsham and Warrington, Jamison, New Britain, and Springhouse. We'll cross the picturesque Neshaminy Creek on Dark Hollow Rd. Quick rest stops - Wawa at mile 17 in Jamison, and Weis Market in Doylestown at mile 28. Terrain is rolling - total climbing is 2236 ft - nothing severe. Plan is to return by 4:45-5:00pm. Optional Preregistration has been set up here for your convenience. Preregistration is not required, BUT, it DOES save you writing time at the starting point, and, it helps your Leader by ensuring that your contact info is printed legibly.
