NEW YEAR'S DAY HOT SOUP RIDE - CO-LEADER(S) WELCOME

Leader: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862Special route from Upper Dublin High School to the Wegman's Food Court in Collegeville. Outbound via Blue Bell, East Norriton, and Eagleville, return via Oaks, Schuylkill River Trail, Norristown Farm Park, and Ambler. On the outbound, we have a quick rest stop for bathroom & snack at a Wawa in East Norriton at mile 16. Indoor lunch stop at Wegman's is at mile 30. Most of the climbing is before the lunch stop. Total elevation gain is 2845 feet. The return includes a 5-mile stretch on the flat SRT. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain the advertised pace. Scenic Kimberton ride (ad-hoc ride)
Level C+: 12mph, 35 miles. Meet at Chesterbrook - Wilson Farm Park - Lee Rd at Wilson Rd. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Cue sheets will be available.
Leader: Michael Fuller, , 610-551-8256Explore a few new roads to Kimberton. We will start on the Chester Valley Trail to warm up the legs, then there will be climbing (Graded and paced accordingly). I am out of shape, so if any riders want to drop me, feel free. The Q sheet will be accurate. Short stop at Kimberton Whole Foods, then back. Note the later start time for those who had a long night ringing in the New Year.
Let's ride to the Mummer's Parade
Level D: 10-13mph, 14-30 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 11:00 am.

Distance will depend on assemble group's experience and weather conditions. There will be some instructional and safety instruction. Good holiday spirit is welcomed We will ride the Schuylkill River Trail to the Kimmel Center to watch part of the parade from there. Then we will head to the Cosmic Café for a nice snack. We should plan on taking the train back to Conshohocken. There is a 10:26 AM train from 30th Street Station arriving in Conshohocken at 10:44 We will aim to catch the 5:26 PM train back to Conshohocken. You may ride back to Conshohocken on the SRT if you don't want to take a train.

We'll have fun as we find our way around this beautiful part of Fairmount Park. We'll mostly be on the trails but there are also flatter options along the way for those who want a more direct way back. The pace, which always provides a good workout, will be determined by the group. The distance we cover is usually around 7 miles. The trails can get wet and icy so be sure you have appropriate footwear (waterproof shoes and ice cleats depending on the conditions). Well-behaved, four-legged friends are welcome but they must be kept on a leash at all times.

Spin your way to IKA, they have a very friendly cafeteria for a halfway rest stop. Put yourself in one gear lower than you normally ride in so the legs will stoke the heater of the body. IKA has lots of small items, so last min stocking stuffers might be found and carried home on the bicycle. Rain or snow one hour to start cancels.

HOT SOUP RIDE - FWSP (& UDHS) to Wegman's in Warrington, 50mi (40 short-cut option) CO-LEADER(S) WELCOME

Part of the outbound route will include the 202 Parkway bike path. Quick indoor rest break for bathroom and quick snack at mile 18.5 at Del Val College Market, then indoor lunch stop at Wegman's at mile 31. Rolling terrain with a few climbs, but nothing too steep -- total climbing 2700'. Stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain the advertised pace. Expect a good challenge as we grind gravel trails and hit a few climbs with great company for no other purpose than to have fun and put in a few unpaved miles.

Hike the Wissahickon
Hike Moderate Pace on Strenuous Trails, 6-8 miles. Meet at Walnut Lane Golf Club. The hike leaves at 9:30 am.

This week we will be exploring the south end of the park including the 100 steps and the area of the park on the south side of Lincoln Drive. Wear appropriate footwear and consider bringing ice grippers if conditions are icy. Well behaved dogs are always welcome but they must remain leashed at all times- even on the trails. There is a bathroom at the start and then not another one until near the end of the hike so come prepared. If you do not know the trails in this section of the park, you should be prepared to do the entire hike which will end about 12:30pm. Park in the lot on Magdalena Street across from the golf club.
Sunny Sunday D Ride
Level D: 9-12mph, 12-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm.

Leader: Show and GoA true C ride, which cheerfully waits to regroup. Usually 25-35 miles with a lunch or snack stop. Meet at the Italian Fountain, near the parking garage sign.
Sunday Afternoon (Post-Hike) Winter Ramble = Bruno's to Oaks via SRT

Return by 5:00. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic loop, usually thru Montgomery Co. or Lower Bucks, with brief rest stop. Unless otherwise stated, meet most Sundays at Bruno's (finishing point for many of the Sunday AM Wissahickon hikes). Occasionally meet at another location in Chestnut Hill. Plan to return by 5:00pm. Please bring LIGHTS. Specific details posted for week. Every Sunday throughout winter (during hiking season), weather permitting, EXCEPT 2nd Sun in Feb. If weather is not bike-friendly, this ride may be replaced by snow activity. Keep moving throughout winter - maintain base fitness level for the return of spring cycling in March.

Level C+: 13.5-14.5mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:30 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.
Leader: Rick Christie, , 610-787-1985The nighttime Phoenixville Dog rides will continue until daylight savings time begins. A strong headlight and taillight are required. The rides are on low traffic roads and feature rolling to hilly terrain. No one dropped, but please be prepared to ride the advertised pace over rolling to hilly terrain. Precipitation cancels. Ice on the road cancels. Temperatures below 15 degrees at the scheduled start time cancels.
