Ten Mile Point - Baxter Trail - Factory Donuts

    Leader: Tim Carey, , 267-414-9037

How things come together. I was thinking about the bike trail that if you build it, the authorities don't let you ride on it, that's the Baxter Trail, built through the firing range of the Philadelphia Police Academy. The Baxter Trail is part of the Delaware River Trail, part of the Eastcoast Greenway and a northern extension of the Pennypack Park Trail at its eastern terminus. The trail has only been open on weekends of Summer. On looking at Google Maps to ascertain the correct name of the park area on the Delaware River where the Pennypack Creek empties into it, I noticed a marking of Ten Mile Point. I thought it would say, Pennypack Park Ballfields on the Delaware River. Finally, I met a BCP member who told me of the Factory Donuts in Northeast Philadelphia. So today's ride combines all three! If KYW is reporting rain outside their studio one hour prior to start, ride cancels.
