    Sandy Hook Seashore Trek (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B-: 14mph, 70 miles. Meet at Visitor Center of Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Route 33 Business, Manalapan, NJ. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Cue sheets will be available. The on-line route map is http://ridewithgps.com/routes/9454582.

    Picturesque adventure ride from Central NJ to Sandy Hook, a 1665-acre barrier peninsula which protrudes into the bay between NJ & NY. Sandy Hook offers a view of the Manhattan skyline, as well as 7 miles of beaches, a lighthouse, and a holly forest. Shortly before reaching the seashore, we'll stop at the Mt. Mitchell Scenic Overlook County Park, which includes a memorial to the heroes of 9-11. This county park provides a spectacular overlook of Sandy Hook Bay and the NYC skyline. The route to & from Sandy Hook will take us along the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers, as well as the Swimming River Reservoir. Beginning and ending portions of the route are flat-ish/gently rolling, with a few brisk climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total elevation gain is 2189 feet. Middle portion of the route (near and on the beach) is flat. Food stops at mile 25 and 45, + an optional Rita's Water Ice stop at mile 62, near the finish. DRIVING DIRECTIONS to the starting point (Visitor Center of Monmouth Battlefield State Park): 1) NJ Turnpike North to Exit 8/Hightstown & Freehold. 2) From Exit 8 ramp, turn right onto NJ-33 East/Franklin St. Stay on 33 East. 3) After crossing CR 527/Millhurst Rd, NJ-33 will split into Business and Expressway. Take the right-lane exit for 33 Business, then bear right at bottom of ramp for 33 Bus East. Look for sign for Monmouth Battlefield Visitor Center. Turn left into Visitor Center entrance. Parking lot is at the end of a long driveway. Please allow at least 75 mins driving time from Phila. The map link provided below (you can zoom in) will show the start/finish point, the whole route, and the elevation profile. WEATHER UPDATES will be based on the forecast for Manalapan, NJ, not Phila.     Pottstown and Harleysville (with Skippack Trail)

    Level B-: 12-12.5mph, 63 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    This is about revision 6 of my first route. Fair warning: 3850 feet of climbing. Translation: VERY SCENIC :) Bring the camera. It will include portions of the old SSC from about 18 years ago. If anyone wants to, we can take a peek at the bottom of a 22% hill. We will see almost 4 miles of the Skippack Trail. First and last 4 miles are on the Schuylkill Trail. H2O #1 at WAWA deluxe in Pottstown - mile 24, H2O #2 at Hennings Market in Harleysville - mile 44. We will not be racing! I am looking for a rolling average of 12-ish mph. That said... Make sure your battery has a full charge :)

    Scheduled for most Monday evenings throughout the summer. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Mileage will depend on the length of evening daylight. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Occasionally, this Monday evening ride may be cancelled, if there is a special club event at another location, e.g., a Member Appreciation/Tailgate Social at a larger ride site. Toward the end of the season (late September), this ride will need to leave earlier (5:45 or 5:30pm), due to evening daylight ending earlier.


    COS (Church of the Savior) Monday Multi-Level Group Rides, Wayne, PA

    WE'RE BACK!!!!!!!! Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley Ride Level: D thru A This ride is cross listed at the SCU Meetup site. COVID-19 Protocols are still in effect. Please review these on BCP websites. We have experienced ride leaders and sweep riders so no one gets lost! We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.). Rain cancels the ride but look at Meetup or here for last minute updates when weather is questionable.

Relaxed pace, peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on return. This Tuesday night ride meets every week throughout summer, weather permitting, unless there is another special club event in a different location (e.g., Member Appreciation Tailgate Social at a multi-group ride site). Toward end of season, this ride will meet earlier (5:45 or 5:30pm), due shorter evening daylight.

Preregistration saves you writing time at start. If you sign-in at start, please use hand sanitizer. Meet in parking lot of Flourtown Shop Ctr Bethlehem Pike (McDonald's in front, facing the Pike).     Flourtown Regular Season (A-/B+ and B)

    Levels A-/B+: 17-18mph, B: 15.5-16.5mph, 25-40 miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available. The on-line route map is Flourtown Mixed Level Route.

    Please join us for rides in Montgomery and Bucks counties. Ride distance will vary based on available daylight. Both groups will use the same route, just at slightly different speeds. We will not drop anyone, but please be sure that you are capable of maintaining the advertised average speed including some hill climbing. We are planning to maintain a group size of no more than 15 riders per group. We will post the ride route in advance for you to download to your device. Please RSVP. Rain at start time, or wet roads will cancel the ride. Our goal is to be back by sunset, but a taillight and headlight are recommended both early and late in the season given the shorter amount of daylight. This ride is a joint BCP/SCU ride.

    This Thursday Morning ride is a little longer and a little higher up Youngs Ford Rd and down Wayerly Rd to below sea level at Flat Rock Park. Meet in same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". Start by riding on Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill w/Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we return at dark. COVID PRECAUTIONS in EFFECT.     THURSDAY HILL B RIDE

    A moderately hilly ride conquering Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 miles by July. Then return via another treasure, called Tabora’s, and sail by scenic Lake Galena. Dramamine not provided on this cruise. From LMc: This loop has 2749 ft of climbing. Convenience store if needed for quick break at Mile 7 in Warrington. Chubby's Ice Cream (and Wawa) in Plumsteadville at Mile 30. Tabora's in Chalfont at Mile 36. We will accomplish that by taking two levels of up instead of one long level up! Returning via Midvale Ave and sharing the road on MLK Dr with the cars now that the Dr is open to all vehivlar traffic!     This is one of my "D" pace, "C" distance and "B" terrain. Cycling out Darby Paloi Rd to Malvern, high on the bluff. Desending into the Great Chester Valley for lunch at Wegmans.     Spring MIll C to Tacony Creek Trail

    Level C: 11.5-12mph, 42 miles. Meet at Spring Mill SEPTA lot beside Riverbend Cycles. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

    The rain and warm days have turned the Tacony Creek Trail into a bit of a jungle. Makes for interesting pictures. A few hill climbs, a lot of Philly neighborhoods, and 2 H2O stops.     Sunny Sunday D Ride

    Level D: 9-12.5mph, 12-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm.

    OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride through Fairmount Park and beyond. There might be a hill or two to help with beginner physical conditioning and a short instruction session on an essential biking safety skill. Helmet (required by the club), mask if you are not vaccinated. Please bring water, sunscreen, extra tube and equipment to fix a flat tire, and $ for mid-ride snack stop.

    Circumnavigating the Delaware Bay Counterclockwise - 8/14 to 8/18

    A five day, four night Cycle Touring bikepacking trip around the Delaware Bay will be Saturday, August 14th - Lums Pond DE State Park; Sunday, August 15th - Killens Pond DE State Park; Monday, August 16th - Delaware Beach DE State Park; Tuesday, August 17th - Woodbine, NJ and Wednesday, August 18th - Home. This is a counterclockwise route differently from previous years. Camping, camp meals except for Monday night at a restaurant close by the Indian River Inlet, DE. Shared costs of about $30 a night. Milage approximately 50 miles a day with a fully loaded bicycle, with tent, sleeping bag and sleejping pad, plus daily cycle wear, and weather related gear. Mess kit. The last day is 65 miles. After lunch, we go to Take it Outdoors Adventures to rent kayaks. We will be transported up stream 4.5 miles for a beginner friendly 1-2 hour paddle back to the start.     I continue to explore the many bridges in and out of NYC. I have already cycled the Goethals Bridge, the Bayonne Bridge, the George Washington Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge on train assist rides into NYC. This ride will add the Wards Island Bridge, the Robert F Kennedy Bridge and the Roosevelt Island Tramway. We will be skipping the Brooklyn Bridge by going directly to New York's Amtrak Pennsylvania Station catching a train after 7 pm back to Philly. We meet 8:15 am at the Dunkn Donuts in the main lobby of 30th Street Amtrak Station on Friday, August 20th. Boarding the 8:44 am SEPTA Trenton local. Transfer to the NJTRANSIT train # 3834, 9:52am destined to NYC but we get off in Rahway. Cycling up the New Jersey side of the Hudson River over Goethals and Bayonne Bridges to the GW. Once across, we wind our away to the Harlem River Parkway Bike trail, through north west Harlem to the Wards Island Pedestrian Bridge over the Harlem River onto the narrow pedestrian sidewalk with some stairs on the Robert F Kennedy Bridge into Queens. From there onto Roosevelt Island to take the Roosevelt Island Tramway back into Manhattan. The ride will keep moving, stopping for a coffee lunch in Fort Lee. Maybe a refreshment stop on Roosevelt Island. We will need to keep a steady pace so as to catch the 7:09 pm train to Trenton and connecting with SEPTA to arrive back at 30th Street Amtrak Station by 9:51 pm. If not, the next train gets back in Philadelphia an hour later. So ALL day!

    Please join us for rides in Montgomery and Bucks counties. Ride distance will vary based on available daylight. Both groups will use the same route, just at slightly different speeds. We will not drop anyone, but please be sure that you are capable of maintaining the advertised average speed including some hill climbing. We are planning to maintain a group size of no more than 15 riders per group. We will post the ride route in advance for you to download to your device. Please RSVP. Rain at start time, or wet roads will cancel the ride. Our goal is to be back by sunset, but a taillight and headlight are recommended both early and late in the season given the shorter amount of daylight. This ride is a joint BCP/SCU ride.

    A hillier ride out west that regroups at the top of major climbs. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 35 miles by July. Bike lights are highly recommended.     Mike Fox will be leading tonight. A moderately hilly ride conquering Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb.     Scenic, safer, slightly longer Charlie B. route inspired by the SCU Biscotti ride to Bucks County Biscotti - avoids climb on Callowhill Road AND adds a rest stop at scenic Peace Valley/Lake Galena. Also adds scenic Pine Run Reservoir and has ice cream stop at Hickory Stick Ice Cream (mile ) and at Freddy Hill Farm. Total climbing 2461 ft, Most of the climbing is in the middle of the route. The final stretch (after Freddy Hill Ice Cream) is mostly flat.

    BCP will have a display tent in the plaza of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (aka, the Velodrome) in Trexlertown, during the Friday Night Races, sponsored by Bicycling Magazine. BCP will be exhibiting here to promote our club's membership benefits & perks, as well as rides and upcoming events. Music will be playing in the plaza before the races, and there will be family- and kid-friendly entertainment. General Admission tickets are only $9/adult. Young children get free admission.     Scenic tour of rural Burlington County's farm and orchard country, based on/adapted from the Spellbound Century event ride held in late July. Very pretty and peaceful landscapes, crossing a creek or two. Terrain is gently rolling, with total elevation gain of 2000 ft. Dunkin' Donuts at Mile 18, farmer's market/orchard stops at mile 26 & 48, & 69. Driving Directions from Palmyra, NJ (Tacony-Palmyra Bridge): NJ-73 East > US-130 North > Right onto Creek Rd > Left onto Marne Highway > Cross over 295 & NJ Turnpike > Left onto Deacon Rd to the park.
