Ten Mile Point - Baxter Trail - Factory Donuts
Level D: 10mph, 30 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.
Leader: Tim Carey, , 267-414-9037How things come together. I was thinking about the bike trail that if you build it, the authorities don't let you ride on it, that's the Baxter Trail, built through the firing range of the Philadelphia Police Academy. The Baxter Trail is part of the Delaware River Trail, part of the Eastcoast Greenway and a northern extension of the Pennypack Park Trail at its eastern terminus. The trail has only been open on weekends of Summer. On looking at Google Maps to ascertain the correct name of the park area on the Delaware River where the Pennypack Creek empties into it, I noticed a marking of Ten Mile Point. I thought it would say, Pennypack Park Ballfields on the Delaware River. Finally, I met a BCP member who told me of the Factory Donuts in Northeast Philadelphia. So today's ride combines all three! If KYW is reporting rain outside their studio one hour prior to start, ride cancels.

Leader: Rob Gusky, , 920-573-5128The forecast looks more promising than the last attempt at the SE Asian Market. On the shortlist of must-eats: grilled steak on a stick, deboned Cambodian chicken wings stuffed with meats and glass noodles, nom banchok (Khmer rice noodles in a light green curry with chicken and fish, topped with crunchy banana blossoms and a sugary chili crisp), ansorm chhrouk (tender pork belly and mung bean encased in sticky rice, best sliced and fried with fish sauce), Cambodian pork rolls, and steamed beef tripe and spleen with cabbage and cucumber salad and addictive anchovy peanut lime sauce.
