    For March 3: Pretty route from Laurel Beech Park in Wyndmoor (near Chestnut Hill) to Audubon for coffee, at the midway point. We have a choice of a sit-down break at Valerio Coffee Roasters, or else, Wawa, if riders prefer a quick, stand-up rest stop. Both the outbound and return wind through Erdenheim, on our way to the flat SRT. Total climbing is 1565 ft, averaging 37 ft/mile. Start slightly earlier at 9:15, in order to return by 1:00-1:15 at the latest. Afternoon rain not predicted to arrive until 2:00pm. /route can be shortened a bit, if needed - we can shave off a few miles in the Audubon area.     Sometimes birthday rides are belated. This is true for Sylvia Brown. Her birthday wish is to cycle to Devon PA with lunch there at one of the many places. This ride goes out the SRT to Conshohocken where we climb out of the Schuylkill Watershed to Mattsonford Road. Once in Wayne we amber over to the Radnor Trail heading west to Devon. We do pass by the Devon Horse Show grounds. Inorder to get in the 60 birthday miles and 6 hills for each of Sylvia 's 6 decades of life, we will take Waterloo Rd down to Paoli/Darby Creek Rd on the way back.     Sunshine & Good Coffee - Horsham Library to Tabora's, then Back Yard Beans in Lansdale. CO-LEADER(S) WELCOME (ad-hoc ride)

    Pretty loop from Horsham Library through Montgomery and Bucks Counties, in search of good coffee (and tasty treats). Cycle past Pine Run Reservoir at Mile 13, then scenic Lake Galena at Mile 15. Quick stop at Tabora Farm Market in Chalfont at Mile 18. At Mile 28, there is a mega-Wawa, if riders want to stop. Returning via Hatfield and Lansdale, we'll be at Back Yard Beans in Lansdale at Mile 33, if riders want to stop. Leaving Lansdale, we'll take the new Liberty Bell Trail. The last part of the ride takes us through Gwynedd, and we return to Horsham Library on the Horsham Power Line Trail. Mostly rolling terrain, with most climbing in the middle of the route. Off to New Hope (using most of the Peter O'dell route) for a stop at the C'est La Vie bakery. Then we shoot over to Doylestown for some Jules Thin Crust.. Around 4000ft. of climbing.     G.R.I.T Ride - Green Lane to Seisholtzville

    Level B: 13mph, 54 miles. Meet at Green Lane Park - Deep Creek Rd. Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. The on-line route map is GreenLaneGRIT54.

    Hiller mountain ride as we climb our way up the gravel and paved roads to Seisholtzville for Rest-stop at Tamato's Deli (Mile 24) before returning. Route is ~30% unpaved with ~5000 ft of elevation gain. Bring your 29er, CX, Gravel or equip your road bike with wider tires as we mashup rides across various asphalt, gravel and sometimes dirt terrains. Expect a good challenge as we grind gravel trails and hit a few climbs with great company for no other purpose than to have fun and put in a few unpaved miles.


    Hike The Wissahickon - Mills along the Creek

    Hike Moderate Pace on Moderate Trails, 5 miles. Meet at Blue Bell Park. The hike leaves at 9:30 am.

    Today's hike is a bit different -- we will hike to Historic RittenhouseTown to join Wissahickon historian Steve Jones for an interpretive portion of the hike. 🚶🏾🐕 🚶🏽🚶🏾 Steve will lead us past and tell us about the sites of 19th century mills that once lined the Wissahickon. The interpretive portion of the hike follows the former road that led from RittenhouseTown, along the creek to the farms of Roxborough. 🚶🏽 This part of the hike follows narrow foot trails that descend and ascend from the top of the gorge to the creek. 🅿️ There is plenty of free, safe on-street parking in the lot at the start in BlueBell Park. 🚂 The park is a short distance from the Tuplehocken Station on SEPTA's R8 line. The 8:40 am train from Suburban Station arrives at 9:05 am. Each Sunday from Nov 13, 2022 to March 12, 2023 BCP will sponsor a hike in the Wissahickon. 🐕 🚶🏽 New hikers, cagey veterans, and dogs on leashes are all welcome to join us.


    Sunny Sunday Afternoon D Ride

    Level D: 9-12mph, 12-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride through Fairmount Park and beyond for young, old, novice riders, and middle aged bike riders. Please bring helmet, extra tube and tools to change a tire in case of a flat. Be prepared by bringing water and properly dressed for the weather. We will stop mid-ride for a rest-snack (bring $). There might be a hill or two to help with biking conditioning. We will regroup as needed to allow for catching one's breath.


    Sunny Sunday C Spin-Off

    Sunday Afternoon (Post-Hike) Winter Ramble Ride - Roxborough to Valley Forge/Devon, via SRT

    Cycle from Roxborough down to the flat Schuylkill River Trail, then cross the river on Sullivan's Bridge, meander through Valley Forge National Park, then stop for coffee/snack at Panera in the Gateway Shopping Center in Devon/Wayne. Alternatively, if riders would prefer a quicker stop, there is also a Trader Joe's in the same shopping center. There is also a Barnes & Noble Cafe nearby. Return from Valley Forge via Sullivan's Bridge and the SRT. GOOD NEWS: Days are getting longer. Sunset on March 5 is at 5:57pm. START/FINISH: Gravel parking lot at the Scout House, Henry Ave. & Wigard. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic loop, thru Mont.Co. or Lower Bucks, brief rest stop. MEETING POINTS WILL VARY, based on the various Start/Finish points of the morning hike somewhere in the Wissahickon. Return by 5:00pm. Distance will be determined by sunset time. Please bring LIGHTS. We will cycle out River Rd to Spring Mill road and with a coffee stop at Panera Bread in the Whitemarch Shopping Center.     Pretty loop from Chestnut Hill along the Cresheim Creek to the Wissahickon, then south along the White Trail. Cross the Wissahickon to Forbidden Drive. Head north partly on the Yellow Trail. Recross the Wissahickon near the Valley Green Inn. Return via the White Trail, back to the Cresheim Creek. After the hike, we will enjoy the season finale Post-Hike Social at Chuck's house. PLEASE NOTE: If we have a large group for today's special hike, we can divide into two smaller groups, both groups will have Leaders. START/FINISH: trailhead at the dead-end of St. Martin's Lane, near Huron Street. After the hike, the Social is ~ one block away on West Mermaid Lane. Outbound via Ludwig's Corner, and return from the Butterscotch Pastry Shop in Birchrunville via Kimberton and Phoenixville. Total climbing 2515 ft. with most climbing in the middle portion. The last 15 miles are mostly flat. Route includes a covered bridge over the French Creek. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Alex Gay from Ride with GPS will breakdown how to use Ride with GPS for about 45 minutes, then 15 minutes of questions. After he finishes, we will practice using our own equipment for another hour. We will meet on North side of the Ben Franklin entrance since the usual start on the South side is closed for repairs. Please note that when we arrive on the Jersey side we will need to take 39 steps down with 2 landings along the way, There is a metal trough so you can roll your bike. I or others will be glad to assist with your bike if needed.

    This vitural session with Alex Gay from Ride with GPS Is for Ride Leaders Only. Ride Leaders can contact George by email to let me know if you need to be added to the Route Managers List. We will learn about the new features and practical lessons in preparing a route and then publishing the route. We will have about 45 minutes of instructions and then 15 minutes of questions. After the demonstrations, we will be able to practice preparing a route on the computers at the college or bring your own laptop. There is parking at the Community College Parking Lot, which is between 18 & 17 streets and between Callohill and SpringGarden.
