Sat June 27, 2009 - Bait Box Ride-Woolwich to Greenwich New Jersey

Level B, 16 mph, 65 miles. Logan Township Municipal Park, Township Line Road, Swedesboro, NJ.. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Well, after a number of years away from leading BCP club rides, I've decided to rejoin the ranks. Therefore, officially, I am back! Now for the ride details: This is a scenic, mostly flat to gently rolling ride from Woolwich (Swedesboro) to Greenwich, NJ. Greenwich is approaching the Delaware Bay and may be remembered from Pete Odell's Salem Oak ride that was popular with BCP a few years back. The roads are generally desolate for the majority of the ride until we head back and get closer to Woodstown. We'll have a sitdown, late breakfast or early lunch at the Baitbox Restaurant which is actually in Hancock's Bridge on an inlet of the Delaware Bay. This place has the BEST, deep fried bacon I have ever tasted! On the way back if needed we can stop in Alloway for a quick water stop. Cue sheets will be provided for those off the front or back. This can also be a great ride for the C crowd. The terrain is easy going and the traffic is very low. If someone wants to step up to lead that group, I'll be happy to coach them on the route. Ride will leave promptly at 9am from the Logan Township Municipal Park. Address of ride start location: 2135 Township Line Road (Logan Township Park), Swedesboro, NJ. Directions--Take I-295 South from Philly area to exit 10. From the north at the exit ramp, turn left at the light. At the 4th traffic light, turn right onto Township Line Road. Park is up about 3/4's of a mile on right. Park by the road. Plan for a 30 minute ride from center city Philly to the ride start. Please carpool to conserve fuel and save our environment. Contact details: or 856-343-5944. Rain or acts of God cancels, other then this we will be riding.

We will cruise the mansions of East and West Fairmount Park. From the Art Museum, at sea level, we will ride to the topmost point of Fairmount Park for a gorgeous view of the Philadelphia skyline. The sequence is rolling hill...cruise for a while...rolling hill...cruise for a while, and in stages we'll get to the higher elevation. No doubt you can do it. There's an optional hill at Black Road that I have a lot of affection for, plus there's an optional additional two miles along the Schuylkill on the Schuylkill River Trail (SRT) from the Art Museum to the end and back. The ride will be between 16.8 and 18.8 miles. Bring snacks, drink, your helmet and a tube. It's a ride revelation.
