Level B/C, 13-15 mph, 58 miles. East Goshen Twp. Park. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Two distance options: 58 or 38 miles. - Warm up for tomorrows big event with a ride through the bucolic Brandywine Valley. While scouting the route last week, I saw thoroughbreds, regular and miniature horses, llamas, and even some Texas longhorns. - The ride forms a figure 8, allowing those wanting a shorter ride to avoid an extra twenty mile loop. Two convenience store stops are scheduled for the longer distance. One convenience store stop for the shorter distance. - No ride leader for the C's and the shorter distance B's. Accurate cue sheets will be provided for all riders. - FYI: East Goshen Twp. Park is located on Paoli Pike, between Malvern and West Chester, near PA-352.

Level D+ training ride (C ride at a D pace), 9 -12 mph, 21-25 miles. Formal entrance to the Azalea Gardens behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. We're going longer and having a few more hills, but at a D pace. We'll cruise East into West Fairmount Park, pass the Mann Music Center, and cross City Line Ave. into Wynnewood with a stop for sustenance at Delancey St. Bagels. We'll exit through Narberth then Belmont Hills into Manayunk then down the MLK Drive. You must bring water or a sports drink, food or a nutrition bar and a tube for your tire. Sat September 19, 2009 - Muffy the Flat Tire Changer
Level B/B-, 14 mph, 70 miles. Lambertville, NJ. The ride leaves at 8:15 am. Starting off on the New York route and then taking new turns to the funky Oldwick General Store at mile 33 to rub elbows with Jersey Blue Bloods. Coming home we’ll ride along the shores of Round Valley State Park, past the Green Seargant Covered Bridge and down gorgeous Lower Creek Rd. Terrain is rolling to moderately hilly (3,000 total ft. of climbing), with the final 7 miles being primarily down hill or flat. A second, quick stop for water is possible. Portable nutrition is recommended. The ride will START PROMPTLY at 8:30 from the shopping center at the corner of N.J. 29 and Cherry St. I do not have permission to park in the shopping center lot, but there should be plenty of street parking in the area. Some of this is uncharted territory for me. Stay with the leader or be prepared to follow the cue sheet on your own. A rambling tour of western Bucks and Montgomery counties. Mixed terrain of flats and hills. Re-group as needed. Cue sheets provided for those who wish to ride faster or slower than the main group. Level B-, 14 mph, 62 or 41 miles. VFNHP visitor center lower parking lot. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. A little bit of climbing and a little bit of level ground. Two rest stops at 23 and 37 miles. The cue has a short cut built in to trim the ride from 62 to 41 miles if conditions (weather or otherwise) dictate. We will wait at hilltops and traffic lights (and other unusual phenomena which we may encounter). We will meet in the lower parking lot of Valley Forge National Historical Park and then cross the Planky Way to the Schuylkill Trail.

Level C-/C+, 11&13 mph, ~30 miles. the Betzwood picnic area of Valley Forge NHP,. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. by the kiosk just off the SRT, in the parking lot closest to the entrance road.
We ride to Spring City,(originally – Leafspringville - so named because of the numerous shops that made chassis springs for early automobiles at the dawn of the motoring age). Then to Phoenixville for a late breakfast (optional), near the end of the ride. A multi-club ride. Bring $6 for breakfast & H2O.
It’s about 20 miles to the food stop. So, bring a snack. We plan to ride as two groups, at two paces, depending on who shows. Directions to the start: Take US 422 West to the Trooper Rd (PA363) exit. Sat September 26, 2009 - Polar Express to the Fall BBQ
Level B, 14-16 mph, 65 +- miles. Italian Fountain. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Ride will meet up in Conshohocken at 9:30 with a group from Flourtown St Pk led by Chris Beetham. Meet up location is at the parking lot just off the bike path before the bridge. Thanks to Eduardo Ruchelli for this cue. Ride is a wonderful tour on rolling, low traffic roads, through Newtown, Sugartown and East Goshen. Ride will most likely split into two groups, with the fast ones led by Chris. Ride ends at the BBQ. Steady pace maintained, stopping only for breakdowns. WAWA stop at N Chester Road.

Level D, 9-12 mph, 20-21 miles. Fort Washington State Park Flourtown Picnic Area (W. Mill Road between Stenton Ave. and Bethlehem Pike). The ride leaves at 11:00 am. Ride the Wissahickon. This ride is suitable for mountain bikes, hybrids, comfort bikes, and other bikes with wide tires, although I did it last year, and previewed the ride this week, on my street bike with no difficulty. There's gravel and some bumpy parts but it is do-able if there is no rain. We'll be on both Forbidden Drive and part of the Wissahickon Trail then go up into German-town and Mount Airy, returning on Forbidden Drive to ride .9 mile past our start point to the BCP BBQ for excellent food and even better conversation.

Sun September 27, 2009 - No Sleep 'Til Bridgeton-CANCELLED DUE TO THE THREAT OF HEAVY RAIN IN S. JERSEY THROUGH THE MORNING
Level B, 17.0 mph, 85-93 miles. Swedesboro, NJ. The ride leaves at 8:15 am. A near century through many pretty and mostly rural areas of Gloucester, Salem and Cumberland Counties. Lunch is scheduled for Fortescue at mile 48, but we’ll have the option of skipping the 9 mile trip out there and back and instead having lunch on the mainland. Earlier and later water/snack stops at miles 24 and 63, respectively. Terrain is flat to very gently undulating. Good preparation for the City-to-Shore the following weekend. Meet in the school parking lot at the corner of Bridgeport Ave. & King’s Hwy. in Swedesboro, NJ. No water or restrooms at the start, but there is a Wawa en route from the I-295 exit. E-mail for directions by September 24th. This ride will start PROMPTLY at 8:30. Please plan your arrival accordingly. Cue sheets provided. This is intended as a moderately-paced group ride. If you feel the need to fly off the front, please choose another ride. A go/no-go message will be posted on the web site ride calendar by 7:15 if the weather is questionable.

Level B-, B, 13 - 15 mph, 50-60 +/- miles. Upper Dublin High School - Parking lot at Loch Alse & Fort Washington Aves in Fort Washington. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Note later start time. Borrowing the cue sheet from Jeff Bakely we will ride on low traveled roads with rolling hills and a lunch stop at Moccia's Train Stop Cafe. Regroup as needed, no one dropped. Bring enough to drink and some snacks. Rain cancels, call if unsure if ride is on.
