Come cycle the entire length of Broad Street, the longest straight street in the country! You will experience the expansion of the 20th century city. City Hall being the center, Philly expanded northward and southward. Big mansions, will you be able to count the number of churches grand and small, funeral homes, hospitals and theaters? Can I say this ride is downhill all the way? I hope to go to the very end, the Delaware River inside the Navy Yard but will need to get permission before hand. We will return to the starting place via the subway to Olney Ave, cycling the remainder north portion.

Level B/B-, 14 mph, 50 miles. Bull's Island Recreation Ares near Stockton, NJ.. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Rescheduled from May by popular demand. I have a new way out of valley that will test your legs after a 3 mile roll out on the flats. From there it's all up and down until the 2.7 mile climb up Rick Rd. After a long descent and a quick water stop, you will tackle Musconetcong Mountain via Fox Farm Rd. with its sustained stretch of 14%. Less than a mile of climbing will never seem so long. This year there will be fabulous prizes for both the king or queen of Cong and the prince or princess. After you catch your breath you'll take on the 2.5 mile climb up Tunnel Hill Rd. and then drop nearly 900 ft. scenic feet down to the river at Milford for a nearly flat finish. Good training for the CBBC Covered Bridges Ride. Bring a picnic lunch and relax by the canal after the ride if you so desire. Cue sheets provided. Some mandatory re-grouping. Please arrive by 9:15 for a PROMPT 9:30 start. A cancellation notice will be posted to this listing by 7:45 the day-of is the weather is questionable. Email for directions by 3 p.m. Friday.

Level B/C+, 13.5 mph, 62 miles. French Creek State Park (in the boat launch parking area). The ride leaves at 9:45 am. A fabulous ride through the Oley Valley. Featuring the crossing of two covered bridges, Three rest stops. One at your standard convenience store. One at a great little deli/restaurant in the town of Oley. And even one at a chocolatier. Terrain will consist of significant climbs for the first and last 15 miles. The middle 30 is rolling to flat. Hopefully, we have the ride timed right for peak leaf viewing. Wed October 27, 2010 - MTB on the Pennypack Trails
Level C+/B- MTB the Pine Road entrance to Pennypack Park. The ride leaves at 6:30 pm. Come enjoy the great outdoors (without cars) after dark! Lights and a trail permit are required (go to http://www.fairmountpark.org/TrailPermits.asp to purchase a permit). We ride for approximately 1-1/2 hours. Depending on the predicted weather and/or trail conditions, the ride may be cancelled. Call or e-mail to confirm that the ride is on or with questions.

Sat October 30, 2010 - Five Hills of Philly & a Repeat ( ad-hoc ride )
Level C Ride, B+ Hills, 11 mph, 20 miles. Formal entrance to the Azalea Gardens. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. For all you want-a-be hill climbers - low gear Grannies. Come claim the glory. Let's spin up and down Lemon Hill, Chamounix Hill, Scott's Lane, "The Wall", Black Rd. and Lemon Hill once more. In all my years of cycling and the thousands of miles I have cycled, I have not sceen one hill or one mountain I could not get off my bike and walk up! About 20 miles. Keeping your pedal cadence above 80 rpm - hopefully 90 rpm. This is a can you do it ride not a how fast can you do it ride. Can you stay in the saddle while climbing - not stumping the peddles. High reps saves the knees. Q sheet will be provided since I will definitely be in the back. Go at your own pace to challenge the hills.

Sat October 30, 2010 - SSC: Outer Loop from Valley Forge (ad-hoc ride)
Level B/C+, 13.5 mph, 59 or 36 miles. Valley Forge National Park: Betzwood Area (near the bathrooms). NOT THE VISITORS CENTER LOWER LOT. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Ride the outer portion of the Scenic Schuylkill Century! - We will start from Valley Forge, ride through Norristown, then pick up the century route on Potshop Rd. We will then head to Evansburg to pick up the shorter distance riders { The 36 mile route will begin from Evansburg SP (near the bathrooms) at ~10:15am } then ride the SSC outer loop to Upper Frederick & back to Evansburg, drop off the shorter distance riders then return to Valley Forge. Only one convenience store stop (in Schwenksville at mile 26 or 13) is scheduled. Please bring enough energy supplies so you don't bonk.

Level C+/B-, 13-15 mph, 55-60 +/- miles. Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Ride to New Hope over scenic back roads. Food stop at the French Bakery or Wawa. Some hills, no one dropped, regroup as needed. Wet roads cancels. Call if unsure if the ride is on.

Level C+, 13-14 mph, 40-45 miles. Italian Fountain. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. Frequently we ride to Ambler but we may ride to other locations such as North Wales or Devon. Sun October 31, 2010 - Strausstown - Rally 'Round the Mountain
Level B-, 14-15 mph, 52 miles. Strausstown, PA. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. A far-out ride from Rick and Deane - this is a challenging ride with many rewards. Blue Mountain looms on the horizon for most of the ride, until the end, when a climb up Big Blue ends in a screaming descent to the parking lot. This ride features very low traffic roads, beautiful scenery, a flat first 20 miles, biplanes, Sikh and Hindu places of worship, a scenic wooded climb, and a ride leader supported rest stop at the half-way point. Sun October 31, 2010 - Ride to the Navy Yard ( REVISED)
Level D, 10 mph, 18 miles. the front of the 23ed street Armory (22 South 23ed St, between Market and Chestnut) . The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. This ride will not go into the Navy Yard. The additional insurance required for entry is too costly. The rest of the ride will go as planned. Tim Carey's D ride group will join us at the Bike Expo for a ride to League Island. This is a totally urban ride through South Philly. There will be an optional stop for lunch before heading back to the Bike Expo.
