Level C thru A, 12-18 mph, 27 miles. SEPTA lot at E. Elm and Harry St. in Conshohocken, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. This is a "road bike" ride that requires a strong front headlight and a rear tail light. We have 3 different groups (C, B and B+) which ride between 12 and 18 mph. We typically get @ 25 riders on warm nights. We meet 6pm at the SEPTA lot (E. Elm and Harry St.) in Conshohocken, PA. We leave the lot 6:15 sharp and head to the Philly Art Museum area via Roxboro, Manyunk and East Falls. We take a short 5 minute bathroom/snack break at Lloyd Hall before returning to Conshohocken by 8:30. Q sheets provided for slower or faster riders.Rain or starting temp. below 40F cancels the ride

Sat November 6, 2010 - Delightful, Delicious "D" (and D+/C-) Ride -- Wildlife, History, & Gardens
Level D/D+/C-, 7-12 mph, 25 miles. Formal entrance to the Azalea Garden (behind Art Museum), next to Italian Fountain . The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Easy-paced, 25-mile city loop, mostly flat, taking us to the peaceful John Heinz Wildlife Refuge, historic Old Fort Mifflin, and colorful Bartram's Gardens. There will be a rest stop at each of these landmarks -- please bring snacks with you (and a camera!). We will also stop at a convenience store, if needed. Speed and route distance can be adjusted, depending on the group. Ride is cancelled in the event of rain. Please contact the Leader if the weather is questionable.

Sat November 6, 2010 - Ride to the South Street Bridge reopening via Devon
Level B-, 13-14 mph, 45 miles. Italian Fountain. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Hip Hip Hooray! the South Street bridge opens today. Access to the bridge for pedestrians and bicyclists will be made available beginning at 2pm today! Be one of the first cyclists to enjoy the new and improved bridge. To get some off season miles in, Rob and I will lead a ride to Devon and finish at the South St bridge reopening ceremony....from there you can ride across the bridge to Univerisity City and beyond or back across the bridge to South Street. The ride to Devon will be a familiar route....some rolling hills and a quick rest stop at Whole Foods. Bring your camera to capture the fabulous view of Philadelphia's skyline from the bridge. All riders are encouraged to wear their BCP clothing!

Sun November 7, 2010 - Adopt-A-Highway road clean up and Breakfast Ride
Level D & C, 10 to 13 mph, about 20 miles. the first parking lot West of the Knox Covered Bridge on Yellow Springs rd, at PA252, in Valley Forge Park (There is a PENNDOT Adopt-A-Hiway sign at the entrance to the lot). The ride leaves at 9:00 am. We will be cleaning-up Yellow Springs road for the final time, this year. This is a civic event co-sponsored and conducted four times a year by the Brandywine Bicycle Club and The Bicycle Club of Philadelphia. Nine volunteers are needed to make the job quick and easy. The clean-up takes about one hour. We have gloves and bags. All we need is you! Bring your bike and gear. After the clean-up, we will do short C and D paced rides ( No one dropped) to Phoenixville for breakfast at the Polish American Club. If you want to join us for the clean-up, and not the ride, great! If you want to do the C or D ride only, just show up at 10:00. For all who help with the clean up, we will deal poker. The three top hands will receive a free breakfast. To join us using public transportation, contact one of the leaders. SEPTA bus routes #124 & #125 stop close by the park. Level D, 10 mph, 60 miles. Formal Entrence to the Azalea Garden behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. A winter's ride to Valley Forge Park from Phila. Long but steady all along the Valley Forge, Schuykill River Bicycle Trail, crossing the river into the park for a ride around. We will stop along the way at the Out Bound Train Depot in Conshohocken for a coffee/latte and pastry, with a lunch stop at the concession stand in Valley Forge Park. PB&J sandwiches are encouraged to keep your expenses down. Return by the same route. It is 25 miles to the park with about 10 miles loop in the park and 25 miles back. D riders, you can do the distance - it just occupies your whole day! You will do it!

We'll travel across the Tacony Palmyra Bridge to Riverton,NJ and the Riverton Yacht Club on the Delaware. We'll stop at "Zena's" in Riverton for a sit-down lunch. Last year we had the most delicious soup at Zena's! We'll head back to Flourtown via C.C. Philly passing first thru the little communities of Tacony,Bridesburg and Fishtown that run along the Delaware River. Hopefully, this will be a wholly organic experience, riding from the Whole Foods in Jenkintown to the new, gigantic Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting, then back to Jenkintown. Cue sheets will be provided. Terrain is mostly flat to rolling, with a few climbs. We will stop to regroup as needed. Please bring money for a food break at the Plymouth Meeting market, at the half-way point.

Sat November 20, 2010 - Lights Along the Delaware - Penn Treaty Park to Pennsbury Manor
Level C, 12 mph, 50 miles. Penn Treaty Park, N. Dalaware Ave. and Marborough St, just North of Frankford Ave and Delaware Ave . The ride leaves at 8:00 am. We are all familiar with the Mansions of Fairmont Park since we cycle threw there on many of our rides. Did you know there are an equal number of colonial mansions along the Delaware River set back off State Road, old Kings Highway not visible from the road. We will gather at Penn Treaty Park just North of Frankford Ave on N. Delaware Ave. This is the legendary location where William Penn signed the treaty with the Delaware (Leni Lenape) Indians. We will cycle up Richmond St to State Rd. and continue North through Bridesburg, Torresdale, Anddausia, Bristol, finally Pennsbury Manor, country estate of William Penn. Bring money to take the tour of the Manor. Pack a picnic style lunch. Beverages can be bouht just past Bristol. Returning mostly the same route except using Aramingo Ave for the last leg of the ride. This is a very griddy city/industrialized country side ride. Flat total 50 miles along the river's edge. That was the name of the club's first century ride 31 years ago.

Level C+/B-, 13-15 mph, 45-55 +/- miles. Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Ride to Montgomery or Bucks County places like Skippack, Schwenksville, Lahaska, etc. No one dropped, no killer hills, regroup as needed. Depending on the weather will determine if our rest stop is indoors or outdoors. Wet roads cancels. Call if unsure if ride is on.

Level C+, 13-14 mph, 40-45 miles. Italian Fountain. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Note the time change. Frequently we ride to Ambler but we may ride to other locations such as North Wales or Devon. Sun November 28, 2010 - Hike the "Wiss"
Hike Hike, 5 to 7 +- miles. Valley Green. The hike leaves at 9:30 am. Come burn off some the that Turkey dinner that you had on Thursday. We will meet in front of the Valley Green Inn at 9:30 am (park in the upper lot). We will visit some of the upper trails, flat options will be available on the way back. Well behaved two and four legged friends are always welcome. What better way to spend a Sunday morning when it's too cool to ride the roads.

Sun November 28, 2010 - Sunny Sunday Afternoon D Ride
Level D/D+, 8-14 mph, 15-20 miles. Formal entrance to the Azalea Garden, next to the Italian Fountain, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:00 pm. Check with the ride leader...or the calendar or the list-serve the week of the ride for details. This is an opportunity to begin to learn about and experience riding when it is colder. Be sure to wear your helmet; wear layers that wick moisture; dress warmly enough; and, bring something to eat and to drink. Check the air pressure in your tires and pump them the morning of the ride.
