We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Last month's ride to Bristol, PA was too cold to comfortably do the distsnce so let us do the stomp again to the Amish Farmers Market on the north side of Bristol along the Delaware Canal which is used also as the route of the East Coast Greenway. Washington to the Wegman's food court in Montgomeryville for lunch. Outbound via North Wales, return via Warrington and Maple Glen. Quick Wawa stop if needed at mile 20 in North Wales. Lunch stop at Wegman's at mile 28. On the return, there is another Wawa at mile 41, if needed. Total climbing 2175 feet. Cue sheets will be provided. Level B-/C+: 13-14mph, 40+/- miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Ride to the Doylestown bagel shop for food. Some hills, regroup as needed. Potty stops on the way out and back. Riders should be able to maintain the average pace. Faster on flats, slower on hills. Bring something to drink and an on bike snack. Dress in layers so that you can shed clothes as the day warms up. Route will be made up as we ride and depends on who shows up. Any cancellation will be posted by 7:45 AM on the day of the ride. Sun March 4, 2018 - Hike the Wissahickon - Southern end of Valley Green
Hike ALL are welcome, 2.5 to 3 mph, 6.5 to 8.5 miles. Walnut Lane Gold Course - gravel parking lot on the opposite side of Magdalena St.. The hike leaves at 9:30 am. Meet for Sunday's morning hike at the gravel parking lot across from the Walnut Lane Golf Course, at Walnut Lane and Magdalena St. Venture south on the Yellow Trail, then down the 100 Steps to the bike path. We'll cross the Wissahickon near the falls at Ridge Ave, then turn north on the other side of the creek. Connect with the Orange Trail on the return. We'll be on the flat Forbidden Drive part of the time. After the hike, there are some nearby eateries on Henry Ave for a group lunch. Well-behaved canine hikers are always welcome to join us. Pre-registration has been set up here for your convenience. Pre-registering is not required, but it does save you writing time at the starting point, and it helps the Co-Leaders by ensuring that your contact information is printed neatly.

Level B-: 14mph, 37 miles. Meet at St Martins Train Station. The ride leaves at 1:20 pm. For March 4: Pretty loop from the St. Martins train station in Chestnut Hill to the Wegman's Food Court in Warrington for a snack stop at the half-way point. Outbound via Flourtown, Ft. Washington, and Maple Glen. Return via Warminster, Horsham, and Oreland. Total climbing 1814 ft. St. Martins train station is on West Willow Grove Ave near Seminole St. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic, 35-ish mile loop, usually through Montgomery County or Lower Bucks, with a brief rest stop. Unless otherwise stated, this winter afternoon ride will meet most Sundays at Bruno's Diner (finishing point for many of the Sunday morning Wissahickon hikes). Instead of Bruno's, we may on occasion meet at another location in Chestnut Hill. We will stop to regroup if needed, but try as much as possible to maintain 13-15mph, due to short daylight. Plan is to return before 5:00pm. Please bring LIGHTS, just in case we return in the nick of time. Please ensure that your bike is ready before start time, so that we can leave promptly. Specific details will be posted for each Sunday's Route. Level C: 11mph, 31 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 9:30 am. It's the 20th year for this multi-club ride. We ride to Limerick and travel the Schuylkill River Trail (SRT) back to quaint, downtown Phoenixville, and the Polish-American Club for a late Leprechaun breakfast/brunch, followed by a short, flat ride home. (There are a number of eateries/cafes/coffee shops nearby, if you don’t want a full meal) No one dropped. Route may be shortened to 21 miles if the Leprechaun makes nasty with the weather. (We may do a hike if it snows, like last year). Included is a cue sheet for a longer, self led, 41 mile route, if someone is up for it. Bring money, snack and water. BCP is please to host this seminar, to help our members enjoy the return to early spring bike rides, with more comfort, energy-efficiency, and good mechanical performance from our bikes. A physical therapist will present "spring training" exercises to maximize physical fitness and stamina, with less fatigue. A bike mechanic will present spring cleaning & tune-up essentials for our bikes to maximize performance and energy-effiiciency. The mechanic will also display accessories which are helpful for the fickle weather in spring, when it's cool in the morning, but warm in the afternoon. "Happy Half-Hour" begins at 6:30pm for refreshments and socializing, and the program begins at 7:00. There will be a brief intermission between presentations for refreshments and socializing. PARKING is available across the street in the municipal garage. Parking is FREE after 6:00pm. PUBLIC TRANSIT: The venue is one block from the Cynwyd train station. We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Two start locations, 52 mile length, Penn Treaty Park, Delaware Ave and Beach Street, 9am, and 32 mile length, Pennypack on the Delaeare, State Road and Rhawn St. Surprisingly the trail in Philadelphia is hilly but the trail portion in Montgomery County uses the old Fox Chase-New Town rail bed, which is no greater than a 2% grade. But it is down hill all the way back. There is a hot dog cart at Pine Rd and another refreshment stand on the rail trail. Meet at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, 500 W. Willow Grove Ave, Chestnut Hill. The event starts at 6:30 pm. Join us for two nights of Ride Leader Training -- Tues.March 27 and April 3. 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Participants will receive a certificate noting that they have completed ride leader training with BCP. Wed March 28, 2018 - Nighttime Phoenixville Dog Rides
Level B-/C+, 13.5-14.5 mph, 30-35 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:30 am. The rides of darkness are back every Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm until the return of daylight savings time. Maintain your fitness level with weekly 30-35 mile rides. Strong headlights and taillights required. These are beautiful rides on low-traffic roads. No one dropped, regroup as necessary, but please be prepared to ride the advertised pace on rolling to hilly terrain. Dress warmly. Extreme cold ( <20 degrees ), precipitation and/or icy roads cancels. Cue sheets will not be available.

Fri March 30, 2018 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. This is the generic description. Specific details will be posted on daily calendar for each Friday.
Level B-/C+, 13-15 mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Various starting points -- please check the daily . The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Depending on the destination, starting point may be in Conshohocken, Flourtown, Jenkintown, Wayne, Valley Forge, etc. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year, with a few exceptions here & there. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing. Cue sheets will be available.

Sat March 31, 2018 - Early Bird Ride to Coffee in Flourtown, Truncated Edition (ad-hoc ride)
Level B: 15mph, 40 +/- miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 7:25 am. Assemble at 7:25 AM. Depart at 7:30 SHARP. Ride through East Falls, Wyndmoor, Fourtown, Militia Hill, Manayunk, and Bala Cynwyd. Several hills but no killers. 30-minute coffee stop in Flourtown. (It's all about the coffee!). Will regroup at top of hills if necessary, but riders are expected to maintain posted speed (what our computers read upon ride completion). MUST PREREGISTER. If no one preregisters, no ride. Cue sheets will not be available.

Sat March 31, 2018 - Philly Diner, Essington, PA
Level D: 10mph, 30 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Essington, PA is just South of the Philadelphia International Airport. I noticed the Philly Diner on a ride to the city of Chester. Let's check it out and if that fails there is a Danny's next door. We will return by going around the back side of the airport along the Delaware River and checking out the progress of the refurbishment of the Passyunk Draw Bridge over the Schuylkill River, then up 22nd Street to our start location. Sat March 31, 2018 - Memory Lane
Level B-: 14mph, 43 miles. Meet at Wilson Farm park: Lee Rd and Wilson Rd. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Scenic route that begins and ends on the Chester Valley Trail. A couple of climbs, but since it is early in the season, we will keep the pace moderate. Out through Exton and Downingtown and back.

Sat March 31, 2018 - Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride
Level A-, 16-17 mph, 40-55 miles. Main Line Cycles front of shop 919 Montgomery Ave. The ride leaves at 9:05 am. Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing. Bring a snack for a brief mid-ride break. Consider the on-line routes approximate. Leave by 9:05 AM. Rain cancels. Cue sheets will not be available. Sat March 31, 2018 - Flourtown to Montgomeryville Wegman's, 44mi, CO-LEADER WELCOME
Level B-: 14mph, 44 miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Pretty route from Flourtown to the Wegman's Food Court in Montgomeryville for lunch at the half-way point. Outbound via Ambler, Gwynedd, and North Wales. Sit-down lunch stop at Wegman's at mile 25. Return via Wrenfield, Maple Glen, and Fort Washington. Total climbing is pretty tame - 1918 feet. On the return, we will have a few miles on the 202 Parkway trail. CO-LEADER(S) WELCOME: If you would like to lead this route at an alternative pace, thank you! Level B-: 14mph, 54 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 10:15 am. Friendly B- ride with various destinations: This week off to Malvern, with a lunch stop at the Malvern Buttery (bring money). About 3,600 feet of climbing. We will regroup as necessary and wait at turns within ride level expectations. YOU MUST CARRY A SPARE TUBE. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time. Cue sheets will be available.
